After watching yesterday's Tournament on NA it seems that most Concerns of the last months have come to life. As far as I could see all Teams participating where on Hurricance. Afaik it has been played with KotS Rules.

 

- Permaspotting was a big Issue (as expected)

- You could see the teams lumping together more and more with each match 

- Some Lineups started with 2dds but quickly went down to 1 Gearing / Grozo 

- Gameplay felt very static and kinda painful to watch ( more painful to play if I can rely on Discord ^^), but that's just on a personal Node

- The CV played was Haku only as spamming max Range Torpedos was the main Armament you could see

- Aside from spotting the CV was mainly used to hunt down damaged Ships, and most of the Time it worked very well despite the Ship's class 

- AA Cover was the Fleet's Job for most of the Time. I think towards the end o7 added some planekills on their CV 

- Lineups where made up from the same 8 Ships most of the Time, however this might change again in a week or so

Currently playing on the PTS and as a result I was just wondering if anyone else agrees that multiple CVs per team is not ideal in the current meta?

A thing that annoys me a lot. You are very close to a high mountain. Torpedo planes drops torps from high and travel 100m and hit you. Have you at WG even studied how the torpedo planes worked?... Have u any clue how dropped torpedoes work? Guess not when u can drop them from high. 

The planes had to fly very low... VERY low. And slow! And they flew that way more than few hunderd meters.. When u come diving from above and drop torps.. what do u think happens? they dive straight down the torps! ... Its so irritating that i consider quitting as many of my friends have done after the update (messup). I understand this isnt realistic but some sense in it would be nice. No i have not played wows for long.. My friends have nagged on me to start. Used to play alot wot in the days but quit it when WG messed up the game too much. (Do u sit and take a jamaican smoke when u come up with fixes?)

My biggest gripe at the moment is being constantly spotted, I don't want to play my dds  or my battleships because I don't like being farmed. 

 

Like every one said the patch was released to early and I understand that there are stats you can't get from the test servers. But you want to know what you can't get back aswell. The resentment of all the players that have been screwed in this patch. 

 

I love the new game play of the cvs, but you guys are doing a crap job of balancing them. 4 of our 20 odd active clan members have decided to stop playing. I have been spending less time in the game than I usually.

 

Nerf: Why don't you guys decrease the spotting range by planes

Planes decrease the damage of the torps and  bombs by half.

Add more bombs but wider spread. 

Increase the spread of rockets.

Increase  the flak spread

 

Buff: replacement time of the the planes as they now do less damage over all and don't spot as much.

Increase the flak range.

Increase plane manuver in order to avoid the flak dmg.

Increase the aiming of all ordinance 

 

Rework some aa skills where you have a new branch to the tree which allows you to build the AA for your ships without losing points on the other tree.

For instance 4 rows of  skills but you can only choose one per row.

Row one buff the dmg by 5% on either short mid or long range aa at the cost of -1% each on the other 2.

Row two buff the range. On one at the cost of the others.

Row 3  buff the grouping of flak, for less dps.  Or reduce the grouping for more dps.

Row 4 could be crew skill. You can pick to have a 5% increase vs one type of plane. Or you make the detection of that type of plane higher for you to spot.

So a dd is probably gonna pick attack planes a ca/cl will pick bombers and bb will pick torp planes. Or which ever they feel most threatened by.

war-gaming done it again fubar-ed the game killed aircraft carriers, and broke mechanics in game,

Have uninstalled waste of hard disk space only tanks left to kill but i'm sure your Dev/Management guys don't listen to users any way. and destroy that too! at leased more time to play other games now.

best use of new patch uninstall and save hard disk space.

Dear players,

We've encountered two issues with anti-air defense mechanics after the 0.8.0.1 hotfix:

- Large damage spikes from AA explosions in tier VIII and above (this is a bug, the damage should increase proportionally with tier);
- Continuous DPS on several ships/tiers needs further adjusting (mostly toning down slightly).

We're already working on resolving both issues, but to avoid any new mistakes, we will be spending a couple of days double-checking everything and preparing a small update. We plan to release this hotfix early next week.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

No, continous DPS doesn't need to be toned down slightly, it needs to go back to the old balance before the hotfix. I'm playing Kaga and given how torpedo centric that ship is I'm finding myself without enough torpedo bombers for  single squad with her just 8 minutes into the battle. Bring back the old continous DPS levels and denerf F recall.

Since last update, I mostly play torpedo bombers because of their lower detectability and noticed that aircraft benefit from the "Concealment System Module" and the "Concealment Expert" captain skill. However, there is no change when applying camouflage. One could argue that this is normal since camo is applied to the ship, not the planes but since fighting aircraft are not in reach of the ships modules and the captain surely isn't one of the pilots, I actually don't see a reason why they shouldn't benefit from ship camo as well.

Suggest general accuracy buff for US Tiny Tim rockets with a lower initial and final spread to make them a more competitive option compared to HVARs.

Tiny Tims could also be faster to make them a bit more different.

Or let the continuous dps stay as it is now but preroll the F key to how it was, but make the returning planes slower so it takes more time until they return. 

Im not against losing airplanes while attacking but when 1 attack group returns they get instagibbed, because the autopilot don't know how to evade flak.

Soo my thoughts. On cvs, the thing that is bugging me is the f key penalty also applying to the squads which has aready dropped thier payloads. Make it so that the squads which has dropped thier payloads immediately become immune (you do not have control of them anyway, why lose them when you can’t bloody do anything) but using recalling key will still have the current penalty.

 

As far planes vs AA, the quetionable decision to make t1-t7 AA only balanced vs t4,6 cvs, but useless vs t8 cvs and t6 cvs being somewhat balanced vs t5-t6 boats but completely useless on t8 is not good( there is a massive jump in AA power from t7 to t8 for All ships).

still   love playing, with CVs,  working me way round the bugs, without crying me eyes out at having alll me bombers blow out of the sky, learn by your mistacks, my big complate is this, on old system, I could take out a DD or light crusher, with me torps, it would be nice to do the same with 8 rocket planes, at the momont I hang around, and watch for a ship that has only 1/3 damage left then go in for the kill, or fire rockets, get ship on fire, wait around for fire to go out, then hit it again,

My main concern with the new CVs is the rocket planes, they are clearly designed for DD hunting which I can understand, however my concern is at the low to mid tiers DDs especially Japanese DDs have terrible AA.

 

Now CVs were always the biggest threat to a stealthy DD allowing them to be spotted and attacked, but at least a good DD player could dodge these attacks however with rocket planes you might get lucky and dodge one attack, but the chances of doing for every wave is pretty slim and as the AA is so weak you are lucky to shoot down a single plane so the CV has pretty much got a full wave for every strike. In a battle with 2 CVs and if they both decide the DD is the biggest threat to them that DD is utterly defenceless. 

 

At higher tiers I know DDs have better AA so I don't want to suggest a sledgehammer approach but at low and mid tiers the accuracy of rocket planes does seem a little too good when pitted against DDs that are not bristling in AA.

General feedback:

 

Still stuck at T4, and the CV game play loop so far is about as much fun as sorting rocks. It's repetitive and unexciting. And I can't really see how it can get better at higher tiers, since it's the same fundamental game play loop with little finesse and variation. It just goes a bit faster.

 

That said, with all the crap going on requiring T5+ ships, I'm not sure how WG are intending people to actually finish the stupidly long grind to T6.

 

And I don't think you can hope to keep attack planes in the game while still having DDs be an enjoyable class to play (barring the few exceptions with cruiser-level AA performance).

Honestly: I don't.

 

All other classes have limitations which means that their offensive tools are more or less effective depending on their targets, and while it's not exactly rock-paper-scissors balancing, you can see the remnants of it. There is no need for CVs to have the choice of tools that are effective against all other classes in the game. There is no good game balance reason for not completely removing the rocket planes. Their only reason for existing is that they make the CV game play less dull.

 

Remove them and you go back to the status before the CV rework, where the CV could spot DDs for their team, and they could attack but with limited efficiency because neither TBs nor DBs were optimal against most DDs.

Those in turn have high concealment and high agility. Dodging rocket strikes is a thing, especially considering that the CV will not have much time to aim in thanks to your concealment and given you should spot him long before he spots you (remove RPF please), you should get yourself in a favourable position. Generally turn towards him, if you see him attack and unless it's a US rocket strike incoming, turn 90° off the attack-angle at the last second before the attack.

Your Hotfix is worth nothing! Randoms still unplayable! CVs still boring as crap! DDs still fracked by CVs, be it spotting or direct damage. Cruisers that rely on lobbing shells over islands are still fracked, they used to erect no fly zones with their AA, now they are permaspotted. Well not strictly true, after 5 minutes they are dead and thus not spotted anymore. Other cruisers and Battleships can ignore CVs completely because there is nothing you can do to influence the outcome of the battle with planes, sector assignment is a joke, a bad one. The game has become even more stationary, noone wants to push. That's fun! (Sarcasm, just to make sure you get it!)

 

Well done WG! Now you can bring 7.12 back and 99% of the player-base is going to be happy. Seriously, you will never ever have a bigger support for a patch.

As I said you can dodge the occasional strike. However doing so consistently (especially if there are two CVs per team) just isn't realistically feasible, at least with dive bombers you have a chance, still I appreciate the advice I have been using pretty much the same tactic and whilst it works to a point the rocket planes are just too accurate/ effective when put against mid tier destroyer AA

For [edited] sake WG, denerf F recall, you cannot even attack a couple of BBs together without losing all your torpedo bombers and that is with Midway ones

After you hold on to the stupid and idiotic console control, at least do the followin

- remove missiles at all or at least from 4th level aircraft carriers

- if you want to have missiles, let the T8 and T10 aircraft carriers choose between missiles and bombs / torpedoes

- let the fighters attack aircraft and not be light bombers

- let the airplanes be controlled by the player and on the way back to the aircraft carrier (to the landing itself)

- new planes to be prepared after the group landing or after the whole group has been destroyed

- preparing the planes to start after the beginning of the battle, rather than starting fully loaded and armed

- complete control by using a joystick

 

You can write a lot, but for now I will leave it for another time.

you blatantly ignored the feedback from CV jockeys and testers from the get go with this farce of a rework so whats the point in trying to spin that yarn?

 

The Up Date is great.
But aircraft carriers with captains and equipment are missing.
If I attack with 8 planes and only 2 shoot down their torpedoes is that not good there after the attack all the planes are shot down.
Furthermore, any ship can dodge or sail away.
Even with pretenance, you don't meet anything.
