I was looking forward to Hakuryu torps

I was tired of grinding for Hakuryu, so half way through I decided to spend my free exp and unlock the so called beast. I was more than tired of launching only 2 torps. My shokaku expierence was abysmal. I was never able to cause any flooding and all the BB comfortably repaired 1 fire on deck, like there was no DD to worry about at all.
Serious question: Whats with all the BB repairing 1 fire on deck all of a sudden?

This was all about to change. Surely more torps will give more chance to cause flooding percentage wise. I find Shokaku torps really tough to land, but I was ready for my next challenge. This is the sole reason why I picked the JPN tree line, all because of the torps, the end product. My endless suffering will finaly come to an end. As I sold my Shokaku I noticed I was still hella short in money to buy the almighty Hakuryu. No problem WG, here, have my hard earned money as long as I get to launch those 4 torps. I bought the Hakuryu, unlocked all the modules. I was so excited that I just couldnt get myself to read all the stats. All I saw was more health and 4 torps. What can possibly go wrong? What more do I need?

I start the game with my usual routine, patroling the caps and make DD's life as miserable as possible. After tickling the enemy with my attack aircraft and sending them back, my d*** was getting harder as I was about to launch the most feared, the most talked about torps in the game for the past few days. I watched the torpedo planes take off and it almost made me cry. What a sight that was... They were ready to deal dmg, I could feel it.

I was flying around, looking for that one solo ship, BB preferably and in the end I found one. I remembered some people complaining about the aim, so I was prepared. I planned my first wave to be in stealth and then suprise him in close range. I calculated everything beforehand. I charge the bb, drop my torpedos based on my Shokaku torps. Evrything went smooth so far as I imagined, but my following close range suprise attack left me suprised instead, I was not able to narrow my aim in time so all my torps spread wide. I was not upset since I still had one more run in me, that wouldnt be the case in Shokaku, so there is clear improvement in that area. I make a sharp turn at 9km, but I see the BB moving, so I try to adjust my aim accordingly but my aim just wont settle down. I was furious, for a moment I thought nothing could make me feel worse right now, until I glared at my torps. Those were the slowest moving motherf***ing objects Ive ever seen in my life. I quickly regrouped and decided to go for another round before I make any hard conclusions. On my way back I see the same damn torpedos who are yet to reach the destination I set them for. This is the first time I pressed alt 4 in a game. I quickly went to stats and discovered 40 knots speed. Godamn DD moves faster than my torps. Absolutely ridiculous!

You cant hinder my aim, decrease the flooding chance, slow down the torpedos to an absurd extent and call this Treeline a torpedo Specialisation. I'm honestly worried that WG is not capable of balancing torpedos to satisfy both ends. Just look how long we had to wait for Shima buffs and till this day shima still sucks. If JPN DD are what we call a pure torpedos specialisation, then why are there other nations with much better T10 torpedos? This doesnt make any sense at all.

I read it and all it says is they will look into tuning down AA slightly. This still wont change the fact that JPN line is garbage when it comes to torpedos, our bread and butter. Midway is the only viable CV now so they say, I assume nothing will change after that update, ofcourse more CV on the US line will be playable as well.

If you read it, you would have known that Haku is not a "beast" anymore. And if you read the second announcement, you would know that the current situation would change...

Actualy I wanted to create a thread about that. I think its fair if WG allows us to switch through JPN and USA treeline to see which rework fits our playstyle. Atm, Im having more fun with my bombers and attack aircraft. I hope they grant us a chance atleast once during this balance progress. I have grown to dislike my torpedo bombers alot. with 40 knots, you really need a guy to sail a straight path while seeing you launch those torpedos. Its absolutely ridiculous. I bet they wont change a thing about JPN treeline in specific, just a slight buff to AA resistance. If I had midway at my disposal, I would be unicum.

If you would use 2nd TB option, you would have 50kts airborne fishes. IJN AP bombs are not something to sneeze at either

Also with Midway you can forget about TB most of the times - atrocious aim time, 35kts duds instead torpedoes, combined you end up with ordnance even battleships can evade. Dive bombers and rockets, particularly Tiny Tims are gud though..

2nd TB option leaves me with 2 torpedos tho, its Shokaku all over again. And Im fully aware that Midways torpedos suck, as they should since its not their specialisation. I told you I have grown to dislike TB in general now. Im consistently dealing dmg with my other 2 options, so it can only get better if I get my hands on Midway.

Every time my torpedos are up I have this meh feeling, just another gamble where its completely dependet whether my enemy is a potato or not.
