Flint AA

 

(mid range AA)

I chose Flint as the ship is specialized AA ship (but at least was until this rework)

......

WG you gotta work on another hotfix ASAP!

they have shifted some dmg from burst to continuous - read the hotfix patchnotes

 

after this hotfix, they can pretty much go and make any AA one-shot plane squads because only masochists will play CVs next few days and then nobody - after that point,  all the glorified AA ships can go back to shooting down spotter planes once per battle.

Don't have the Flint so can't compare to before, but it looks like the continuous dps was tripled or something in that region in exchange for reducing the flak dps massively. Hotfix said they would adjust AA values, but honestly that's a pretty massive shift for what can be accurately described as a kneejerk balance hotfix one week after CVs got into live server.

 

Makes the AA less All-or-Nothing, but will likely bring back the old problem of bottom tier CVs getting thrashed by uptiered AA dps and being able to happily ignore most bottom tier AA dps due to greater plane HP if top tier in the match. With only even tier CVs in the game now that's going to be very interesting times for the tier VI and VIII CVs that just love getting thrown into tier VIII and X games respectively.

Thing is, on tiers 8-10 flak dmg was lowered by about 25%, while on tiers 1-7 it was reduced TO 25%. Which makes T8 CV against lower tiers hilariously immune to flak, while T6 CV player, used to ignoring flak will headbutt wall. At supersonic speed.

Haven't logged in yet to check the new AA values and you know how it is with WG and change documentation, ain't no one know nothin' until they look at the numbers in client.

 

But if they really adressed AA values that asymmetrically then I expect we due for a nother hotfix to fix the previous hotfix soon. Or not, because WG things ...

I mean, i wanted a change with more dps towards continuous and less to flak, that is good. But what in the name of all that is holy is up with the jump from tier 7 to 8? Are there any reasons for this, or did you just task one team with tier 1-7 and another with tier 8-10 and they both misunderstood what 25% means(25% less or 25% of)?

 

Doesnt help that there are no numbers or anything to go on in the patchnotes.... How are we expected to adapt to changes that we dont even know anything about? Im so confused, please bring out proper patchnotes in the future wargaming.

That is a pretty damn big loss in flak dmg for a very meh increase in area dps....

Having 483 damage on T7 and 1680 damage on T8 per puff on the same guns is ridiculous (127mm/38 Mk 32 gun).

I think someone did an oopsie when changing things.

I honestly expect 8.0.2 next week. The issue after all is not ship-specific, it affects far too many ships.

 

So, for now I just have my laughs and wait what they do next and what to laugh at next "fix".

I've compared 0.8.0 Atlanta and Flint AA values in my post about the Atlanta AA changes. So the old 0.8.0 values are listed there.

I'll probably make a new comparison and play test when i get the urge to play a bit.

And both T7 and T8 fight the same carriers... Another proof that WG doesn't like people to stay in T7? :fish_palm:
