From Reddit: Apparently for NA the "Snowflakes" event hasn't finished and new CVs are able to get Steel/Coal ("PSA: CV Snowflakes Have Been Refreshed (get more steel/coal)"):

 

 

 

 

This is really really weird...

I guess the end date of this event has been set to end of today regardless when the patch hits. That would of course mean no new snowflakes for us EU pleb.

If that is the case then it would be utterly unfair to EU compared to other servers (NA and RU)...

True, "Snowflakes" end time is the exact same time EU starts its 0.8.0 update. 5am GMT/UTC

And, if we're honest, with WG's track record of compensating this kind of thing there's a decent chance players on the "disadvantaged" servers might just get that Steel added...^^

I would be laughing if it wasn't also very sad.

The sad part about this is, that I am not in the slightest bit surprised that WG screwed up once again.

Everyone screws up something once a while. But the amount of output from WG is as always concerning.

We looked into it and here is the solution: the Snowflakes will be prolonged for us until February 1st, 00:00 UTC (02:00 CET) - so you will also be able to get them for the new CVs!

So as all the CV's area going to be new according to the notes we will get additional coal and additional steel for playing the new ships again according to this thread
