COMMUNITY REMINDER: 2 days left to farm Dynamo (or Cherry) before they're gone

Hey-ho, Fellow Captains! 

 

A few operations will shortly be gone (on thursday), and although they may return in the future, they will probably be different. If you enjoyed them the way they are, or are simply in need of some quick free exp before Kronnie and Sushi are gone... now's the time! :)

Although UF and RR often turned out to be a bit complicated with random teams, the others were quite farmable. From which Dynamo is currently ranking in at #1, by far. With Musashi and Kronshtadt sailing off for an "indefinite period" on thursday ("indefinitely" meaning "will return in lootboxes" in WG terminology), this may very well be the last chance for some of you to do a quick last grind.

 

For Dynamo, you only need 4 players (or rather, in all honesty, 2 good aa-DD's with a decently aiming player - the others are there just to be able to start the operation), and make it 5 for a safe Cherry Blossom. 

 

For anyone still in need of a little free (or normal) exp, while having any good flags/camos and a few friends derping around... Suit up, and fair seas! :Smile_honoring:

 

P.S.: Use the "Operations" Channel to quickly find players and divisions - even if you have no friends/clanmates online! 

--> Little orange chat button in the bottom left of your port

--> Select "Channels"

--> Scroll down to "operations"

--> Left-click

--> Win!

So Narai, Killer Whale, Defense of the Naval Station Newport and Aegis are only four left for now. Well at least we now know probable rotation of the scenarios for 0.8.0

  1. Week - Defense of the Naval Station Newport
  2. Week - Aegis
  3. Week - Narai
  4. Week - Killer Whale

I just went after hatsuaru and Icarus for Dynamo.

 

Now that i have a dd to play the operation, WG will redraw the op from rotation because of cvs. :Smile_facepalm:

 

what happened to put BBs instead of cvs thing? Like it happen in Killer whale.

 

I was hoping to get back to Dynamo ASAP.:Smile_playing:

The last time i played it was in the cyclone (french BB).

You might not want to meet flying battleships in Dynamo and Cherry. Hermes, Frontier and Raptor are salvageable by replacing CV with BB or other boats though.

 

Quick top off my head:

Hermes - replace GZ with 3rd Hipper and a DD (Maass?)

Frontier - replace CV and her escort with Iowa and dub her "flagship" to sink

Raptor - replace Ranger with Colorado, Engineer support ship upon arrival restores propulsion as mission goes, Arsenal support and Aviator CV are replaced with two DD providing gunfire support

Allied DDs only, *and* Russians - who were (technically) aligned with Germany at the time...!

Weird stuff. I have seen LOADS of planes in Dynamo, but have never seen a CV?  :fish_nerv:

Presumably, it's the interaction between the planes and the new AA - without tweaking, one side or the other would probably have a massive advantage.

 

Inspires confidence in the new AA, right...?

THAT could be the reason... but the test server already HAS the new AA.

Problem there: when I took anything else than a CV, I got 100% bots and no CVs.

So whatever the AA does I have only seen from playing a CV (it's proper badass IMO).

For someone who hasn't played operations in about 1.5 years... is it mainly free XP you get from them?  Will I have reasonable success with randoms or would I be better off finding some competent friends?

With competent crew and good ship selection you can farm 4+ star wins consistently. If you tack to that truckload of Free Exp modifiers, you can get solid Free Exp farm for yourself. Dynamo was especially good here due to being plain easy with AA specced Sims, as you can knock obscene amount of planes and torpedo boat kills and Sims herself have increased exp modifier

 

With random teams, Dynamo is still easiest to carry IMO. Other Ops aren't as easy, especially as secondary tasks are often put in different parts of maps *cough* Narai *cough* CV and transports

The Sims in operation Dynamo puts the Great Turkey Shoot to shame. I so would have liked to try it out in the USS Kidd! :cap_rambo:

And the Russian ships are really great. I have an easier time hitting the MTBs from a Leningrad or Minsk than Coassck, even though the latter has three more guns.

Indeed, to hit those tiny buggers on regular basis you need some bussian rias

I mainly used them to farm elite commander XP. Maxed out captain in premium DD, power camo and as many special signals as possible => minimum 30K commander XP per run, often over 50K. It also yielded a modicum of credits, about as many as a middling win in a Missouri in random battles.

Although I have to say the other night, a clan mate of mine killed a ridiculous amount of them from his Sims... I think it was close to 20... WHILE also slaughtering 32 planes. I have no clue if that was a fluke but it is possible.

I guess if you throw your boat between those PT boats instead "sniping" them from 5km away your gun accuracy might go up a bit

I think if you do that there are times that torps are coming from everywhere as the planes are still around and the small boats can appear from multiple directions.  I've had a couple of bad games where I am the lead ship after we got through the minefield.

But when @Verblonde put me up to speed I already had a brand new hatsu , after that I resume my grind towards Icarus.

Now, I have Icarus, an allied dd t6, and this happens.

To be fair the Hatsu isn't the worst tier 6 dd in the game..And leads to some nice boats.

Why is Dynamo being removed? The planes are specifically designed for that scenario :Smile_sad: Guess they're ripping out all the old code?

Hatsu would be amazing for dynamo, it's got more reliable AA than AA spec Farragut/Mahan!
