After played 3 rank game this season. I am complete get annoyed by this season of rank. With the 70k hp pool and 0.05% per level auto-healing, Kronstadt becomes a disaster for other tieIX cruisers and even battleships experience. It's so dumb and 0 skill applied.

This season of rank is an insult to those who thought rank is a skill matter competitive gaming.

In addition, I am really sad about the situation that WG now give too much steel to players in all kinds of events, collections even bundle in premium shop. It makes me feel I am an idiot to spend so much time and energy on the old Clan War seasons.

Are you talking about being 5th in the previous Rank Sprints? They are not taken into account, but the previous Rank season played with Tier VIII and X.

Computer games used to be challenging. Today you have to play everything on 'legendary hard mode' to not be bored to death. Dang, now I feel old. :cap_old:

Feeling better now? :) Actually i didnt try til this point because i dont want to play for myself and just look for my own success. I would rather want to play to win, even if that means that i would need to make a trade from which my team would benefit in the end. But for that the team would need to play together. I wouldnt care about that when there wouldnt be so much to lose. This is, in the end, very frustrating and therefore not worth my time. It is not about the skill here. And it is just a game. If i want a challenge, i would do that in the real world.

I played quite a few battles now (37) and the format for sure is very different. It is quite fast - and here are my observations:

 

The meta is BB and DD heavy (Jean Barts, Missouris and Musashis vs. Kitakazes, Z-46, Jutlands and Blacks - in between Kronshtads).

If you bring FdG, Seattle, Neptune, Roon, Ibuki...you might loose 1 Karma instantly...

 

I got to 65% Winrates on Kron and JB so far. Missouri and Kita I do not have yet. Mushi - so so. DDs - difficult.

DD Play depends heavily on Team Support...so mixed results there. (about 50% WR)

Musashi - in DD heavy games useless...otherwise it becomes an all big gun (4BBs) fight...

 

The mode punishes any sort of Camping. BBs who are used to camp and snipe do not Support their DDs early on.

Their DDs suffer and possibly die - so do the BBssoon afterwards (as the other Team also gets way more buffs). Middle map control seems very important.  

The Team who does kill/push away the other Team DDs typically has it and wins. So - it becomes some sort of - hopefully calculated - yoloing at the beginning.

 

Seems to be as simple as that - and JB does this quite well - bow-in, Fast, releod Booster and HE....helps against DDs...

Z with hydro and fast torp reload also seems doing well (no time to wait for 2 mins to get torps reloaded - everything moves quite fast...)

 

Overall - quite dynamic and rather stressfull. not comparable to other ranked modes before.

Much less static - so particularly BB mains have to really adapt to this. Light cruisers get easily shredded (Seattle spotted - 5 ships press "I like" -

survive those 3x BB salvos....) in the meta and DDs have to find the right balance. Communication always helps.

 

The Impact of the buffs I found hard to Analyse - it is so chaotic and fast, often you can hardly keep track...

Heal is of course very powerful for BBs/CAs....but then again, People just die yoloing to get those...

wow, I just lokked and  THERE IS NO irrevocalble spot between rank 11 and 1? 

Tht's like ten's of battles without ever reaching an irrevocable spot every 5 or so ranks?

 

 

That's quite 'savage' for the average player....

There is 3 leagues so it would be nothing more than fair to have irrevocanles at 10 and 5.

It’s horrible the way it is now.

Almost impossible to progres with all those bad mm.

Ah! A discussion point that finds me!

Set irreversibility' points in that manner is infamous, is true one can make a lot (LOT) battles to achieve rank 1 and get bonuses credits, carbon, steel, gifts and so on... but I think will be so frustrating to get back in rank so many times that is easier to give it up. And I'm glad I'm not the only one to see it this way. Would be enough to get one at rank 8 and the other at 4!!
Previous season I was rank 1 why I started with 15 or 14??

I've been enjoying it, Different, DD's seem to be the flavor of this season of Ranked and alot of Premium BB's but i like the Battle type.

Rank Sprint does not count for this. Only the "real" long ranked seasons.

Have you made it to rank 1 there too?

 

Regarding the irrevocable ranks - there is pros and cons...

Normally it should not matter so much anyway...

(What I found frustrating in the last season was when you fell out of rank 5 into another "bucket" of Players, running a loosing streak down to rank 7-8 again...)

 

Other than that - your progression depends on the difference of stars earned vs. lost boosted by the stars you save in case of loosing.

So - if you want to reach rank 1 you anyway have to continously perform...

 

10->1 takes 40 stars (so the season seems shorter in times of ranks - but the number of "difficult" stars - 10-1 remains the same.)

 

Just an Illustration to show how hard it is...(hope the formula I used was correct...)

 

60%WR no stars kept: it takes you 200 games

60%WR 20% stars kept: it takes you 143 games

52%WR 10% stars kept: it takes you 455 games

52%WR 20% stars kept: it takes you 294 games

 

Massive influence of the "star keeping" rate can be observed.

 

When you reach rank 5 (particularly that early - we are 4 days into the season) one can recognise a significant change in competition.

Big number of Unicums and Typhoon/Hurricane clan players there... (While 10-6 I found very mixed)...

 

I find the Arms Race mode quite refreshing so far...

Not that I dont like the arms race, it is a fun distraction but I cant see what an arcade mod of the game has to do with ranked.

The number of games to even reach rank 5 will be costly in flags etc and with the arcade randomizer then it isnt worth it.

Hopefully they wont screw up the ranked sprint like this

What risks to take to get a buff and when to stay defensive?

Map awareness becomes even more important.

Team Play is fostered - you want the buffs, you have to Support your teammates (when in CA and BB - Support your DDs..)

 

Not that you would not need this in domination and standard mode...but even more so in arms race...

Just my 2 Cents...

As a Neptune player, I would request to please not hand out premature reports. Ship isn't easy, but certainly not a bad pick. Provided you play it with radar and know something about positioning. If you pick up 2 stealth buffs, you also can counter-radar. In general, skilled Neptune/Seattle should make great DD hunters and should be appreciated. Yes, they get easily deleted, but I'd wait to see their actual in battle performance and then decide whether that person deserves a report.

I hope above comment was not missunderstood. When I stated those ships loose one Karma

I certainly was not referring to me reporting anyone for bringing such a ship. It was just an observation

 that those ships good some harsh comments in chat.

 

I played Leander in the sprints with great success and often play light cruisers in randoms - so I perfectly understand what you mean.

but they are very very difficult to play I assume in the current Arms Race mode/meta....I did not dare to bring the Seattle in..

(will stick with JB and Kron for now...)

 

10-6 was full of BBs - often 3-4 in a match...

5 and down it seems more DDs...have not played much there yet....
