Thanks for implementing a a silly system. So if I start at rank 7 for example I would want to lose games on purpose to get relegated to rank 11 in order to farm the previous ranks steel?

If I am reading this right that's what you have done?

So looking forward to sinking my teammates on purpose - gg.

They are using the same approach as in previous seasons: if you start at Rank 7 after the first battle you will receive the awards for the levels you skipped, using your example from 18 to 7.

It is clearly stated here https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-updates/ranked-11-arms-race/ :

Bonus Stars for the Previous Season

According to the established tradition, all of your achievements from the previous season are accounted for, so you won't have to start from scratch. Depending on the Rank at which you finished the previous season, you will be granted a certain number of bonus stars. The maximum possible number is 22 stars. If you reached Rank 1 in the previous season, you will start the new season from Rank 9. Rewards received for attaining the preceding Ranks will be added to your account automatically.

I am really curious who had this terrible idea from wg and convinced everyone to implement it "The change of the traditional format will make ranked battles more dynamic and attractive."

Thanks for ruining the traditional ranked seasons, too, as game didn't have enough problems with its MM and such....

Yes. Or you could just accept that you aren't good enough yet to advance further. What? They don't teach that anymore nowadays? Sad.

Its funny that you still think that only better players achieve rank 1 :Smile_teethhappy: I think you missed how many players do it; simply by playing more than one thousand battles per season and letting others carry them. And there are lots of them. Last season I arrived to rank 2 pretty fast (60% WR, about 150 battles) and suddendly the MM put me in a long serie of pathetic teams that brought me straight to rank 5 again. Not playing BB, you have less chances to keep the star because the main item to make the team classification is pure damage, wich is pure garbage. I went to rank 4 again and quit, because I'm not going to spend the whole day playing ranked for a rank 1. I know WG is interested in doing so, because at the horrific economics of tier X you lose money even winning, so you will probably buy premium time/flags/etc. That's the only reason for using higher tiers. I'd love to see tier VII (banning Belfast) ranked, with no radars, no repair party, etc. Only your hands.

PS: How many good players do you see here? They all are rank 1 :Smile_trollface:

Well - if you are below 50% WR your Progression obviously depends solely on "star" saving.

Must be a quite frustrating experience....

Last season - my first T10 - I had only Hindi to Play.

Was tough -  I was not yet good enough and Hindi was the worst performing CA 2nd only to Salem.

The Sprints went much better  with >60´% WR ... So I hope for the best.

What I also hated were  those loosing and winning streaks in the last season....I hope this MM algorithm changes...

9 games or more win or loosing in a row should hardly happen....but it did very often.

In the Sprints I went with only 2 defeats (1 star saved) straight to rank 2 with 1 star missing to rank one - and lost till

I hit rank 3 no stars...also in a row...

Timing is tight too this season - 4 weeks only.

Reduced number of ranks - but really - the 40 Stars needed from 10-1 are the hardest to earn and Keep.

Anything before that was easy...

So - it will be quite tough. 60% WR and 20% star saving it takes you 150 games....hard grind...

I would have hoped for an irrevocable rank 5 to stay in prime league once reached...

It's normally thought to be good practice to only go so far as three losses in a row and then quit and come back later.

If you keep trying, you'll only get more frustrated and start making mistakes, which just makes you lose more and thus more frustrated.

Yeesh, I wouldn't be surprised if you get flamed HARD for that one. There is a very vocal group of ranked players who think you shouldn't be able to keep any ranks.

Personally, I'd rather they remove the 'keep your star' mechanic so we don't get so many selfish plays on losing teams. If you're losing you go down with the rest of the team.

I see the cons of that one too - as people might bollocks around trying out things etc. as they cannot loose anything - therefore screwing the experience for others.

Just hated the experience of falling back like 3-4 ranks in a row after reaching rank 5 last season. Basically got bombed back and into the dreadful 10-6 Group...

(and vice versa - straight from 5 to 9 and back to five again....) - happened a few times... and it should - statistically not happen so often. I hope for fair random matchmaking.

And 6 vs. 6 anyway reduces the chances of a potatoe on your Team :-)

Anyway - lets see. I am curious on how the Arms Race mode will alter the gameplay of ranked.

Did not bother much with it when it was on Trial phase... Looks like Camping at the back of the map spaming HE will most likely not be the strategy to go I guess....

Once again, I'll go for the ultimate goal: the R15 commemorative flag. Not going to bother with this arcade-y iteration any further.

Alternatively, it also increases the damage a single bad player can do to overall team cohesion.

1/12 is manageable. 1/6 is catastrophic.

I think it is better to play arcade ships battles for steel, flags and camos than to be a target for arcade planes for frustration and tears.

Erm, no I don't think that. Getting good is the only way to get to rank 1 reliably. Check how many players have 500+, 1000+ battles and never come near R1. Yes, the system isn't perfect but it's not as bad as you implied.

It's always easy to blame the teams, it's never you, right? Hint: everyone gets the same teams.

6v6 is much easier to carry. Don't forget that being a good player in 1/6 is better than in 1/12 as well.

Dear WG,

Making a format (Ranked) that inherently requires teamwork and communication to progress was hopeful at best.  To make that format even more dependent on teamwork and communication by dangling super shiny objects on the map mid way through a match that may be at that time either a detriment or an advantage to the team is madness.  I can taste the salt in the air already and whoever thought this up in the office should have the label "TROLL" permanently attached to their forehead.

OK, so there's no single "irrevocable" resting-point between rank 12 and 1 (looking at the provided graphic on in-game article). Nice slap in the face of less-skilled players or for those who have not OP Cunta-Kinte-Kaze, Jetland in their port yet. Along with CV bullshayt "rework" another reason to quit this bullshayt, this time for good.

What was you smoking when you thought Arms race was a good choice for ranked? In general, people struggle enough understand team play in standard ranked modes... Arms race didnt interest me when it was trialed, and it still doesnt interest me. Thanks for making me want to play ranked even less, and along with the crappy CV rework, thanks for making me want to play the entire game less...

No, we don't. We have a pathetic MM that depends on "luck", and not a proper one that putts in every team the same amount of unicums, average players and potatos. That would be "having the same teams" :Smile_sceptic:

What is the arms race buff range?

How close do you have to be to an arms race circle to get the buff when it is captured by a team member?

Making Arms Race the format of ranked games is a very bad idea. Should have been one of the sprint seasons instead for testing first.

This is only true if you play 10 - 20 ranked battles per season. With 150 - 250 battles everything evens out. You are the only constant factor in those battles. Accept it or not, the numbers don't care and me neither.

I don't think this 'need to be close to get it' rule applies now - if a buff is activated, the ship that activated it gets 2x that buff. ALL other allies get 1x that buff.

The Rank Sprints are not those considered. They are referring to the Rank seasons which were they played with Tier VIII and X.
