Just how close do you have to get?

I was 5km from a cap and had 3 enemy BB's with secondary range (7km) when some tactically astute teammate pointed out I was a camping noob. So just how close do you have to get to the enemy these days to not be camping?

(by the way I sank of the BB's before they sank the allied BB and myself at A, only just avoiding a ramming attack by the dying BB)

(oh I just noticed I didn't sink the BB, someone else got the finishing blow when we hit him at the same time)

Clearly your positioning was all wrong @ajb13:cap_old: You see, it is quite irrelevant how close to the enemy you actually happen to be at the time BUT instead what really matters is how FAR away from a gobby, winded aand dead teammate with nothing better to do you are. Only increased distance between yourself and the protagonist can resolve this problem.:Smile_great:

Just ignore flames from dead people, give a f*ck about them and play your own game and don't let your gameplay affected by their flames.

@#$% useless camper. You should have made yourself useful and went to the 10 line. Everyone knows that is where to go in order to win games on North.

Lol. I stopped caring about those self proclaimed admirals a long time ago. Despite it's eroding my Karma (of which I give an equal amount of value). In this case you actually seemed to have overextended. But it's only a moment you captured. Positioning I actually find the most tricky in BB's. Too far back and front is equally useless for your match. I always try to plan ahead as much as possible and keep a close eye what my teammates are doing. Push when they push, fall back when they do. And again: let the armchair experts go mind their own business. Usually they themselves don't have any freaking clue. Can't even recognize an optimal firing location where staying put is of vital essence in that situation. Sailing around like a decapitated chicken isn't always the correct thing to do.

Not a CBT-payer I assume ;-) And that is the problem with these millennial armchair-admirals. When you don't play according to their idiocy strategy these snowflakes explode. You were close enough. The idiot who called you put does not have a clue.

About 90% of complaints on in-game chat are completely clueless. I swear those people have two synapses firing, one of which produces "NOOBS" and the other  "CAMPERS".

It's the real world in microcosm -- too many noisy fools, while the knowledgeable types remain silent.

The funny thing is I checked his stats out - he's a good player and better than me.

The question is, what did you, when he called you camper? I got once called camper, so to be not a camper, I moved full speed towards the enemy. I was dead after a few seconds, because I was actually "camping" 1 km away from a cap and I was really close to enemies before that :cap_haloween:

Heh, I had much the same in Asashio tier X game a few nights ago.

Yamato sat at the back rages "Report Asashio for useless DD noob play"

Checks ribbons at that moment - 8 spotted, 2 caps, 8 Torp hits, 5 floods, 2 BB kills, and an aircraft shot down. 101k dmg.

Predictably, he was bottom XP at game end. I was top. I got neg repped by someone...

Pointless to get influenced by ingame chat, I pretty much decide what I'm gonna do for the rest of the game 10-20 seconds into the battle.

Don't take the bait from potatos.

Ah I see you forgot to read the memo... BB means A-J-1 or 10...

I see that someone puts you on a reeducation list, you are very clearly out of whack...

Spoiler

There is no better situation to be called a coward and a camper by teammates, than driving a Königsberg/Nürnberg, while being targeted by 5 enemies and dodging left and right like crazy... because I am pointing my rear at the enemy. That's where my guns are, duh... Of course, according to them, I should charge in, then stop in the middle of the open sea, and hold the line with my paper-thin armor, right? It's also funny how someone with sub 40% winrate calls me a noob, while I'm driving a ship in which I have 60%+ winrate.

Once I was called a camper while actually tanking with my fragile Königsberg (by drawing the fire of some very inaccurate enemies, and then dodging them, raking in a gazillion of potential damage). Because I was 1 or 2 km farther from the enemy than that teammate's BB was.

I've had a game in which I rammed a DD in a cap with my Warspite, barely survived and took the cap to be "reported" for camping.

I never understand some folk.
