AFK people in start of a match

Guess we all try it in randoms, AFK people ?!? But most of all, its very very annoying  when key ship is AFK
Like the CV or DD..
Wonder if wargaming ever been thinking about a, after queue botten ? Yes you sig up for queue, but also need to hit ready botten, just before you end up in MM ?
So AFK cant get in, or we all know they are AFK for nothing..

There is no point. Some of the smaller capacity computers will take up to 30 sec (or longer, have not measured the time exactly) just to load the map before player will be able to move anywhere or do anything else, by which time the others will have moved quite far already. I know this for a fact, since some of my clanmates have just such computers and they typically only get started, when I'm already half-way to nearest cap (this may happen, even if we sit in the same room and are both connected to the same network with a cable). Can't be helped unless WG will be persuaded to gift every player a proper gaming laptop ASAP (I am, of course, not at all against this TBH). :cap_tea:

 

OFC, local network speed may also have some effect.. :cap_hmm:

So what will happen when you get the situation i have since the last patch , game crashes at about the middle of the loading bar and it only lets me in after 2-3 restarts of the client .

This happens once in about 10-11 games ... :cat_paw: . Not even gonna complain about the reports i get for a situation out of my control .

Did you tried to make a fresh install? Did you contacted WG support? If answer is no on both cases, then you should consider doing something...

If this was a problem for most of the players then it could be a WG problem.   As it does not seem to be what Vlad_Vado has suggested should be followed.   Also, in any game crash situaiton always remove any mods and just play 'vanilla' - quite often mods can cause problems.

Yes i did , heck i got a new pc 2 weeks ago , it's because of the last patch , before it i had a crash maybe once per 2 weeks  , i'm waiting for the next patch since such problems are eventually fixed .

Well, don't know when the next patch will hit live server (guess will hit next week if WG mantains the 4 week cicle, but can be changed as 0.8.0 will be the patch with CV rework). It's up to you to wait if you want, but I would rather contact support team instead waiting untill next patch.

If this does constantly happen to you, yet in general it isnt, the problem must be on your end? Even with a new PC, it might be something, that you´ve been using on both computers. Some antivir, other software... who knows.

Possibly, then, the way to do it would be for the server itself to delay entry of the corresponding ships from the enemy team.

 

E.g. if a DD is AFK and not detected as loaded, then the matchmaker "holds" the opposing DD and informs that player that there is a delay due to AFK.

 

As noted, a match can be won or lost simply because DDs or CVs are late into the game, thus handing the opponents a cap and/or spotting advantage.

 

 

Personally, I'm not sure that AFK'ing might not already be due to some sort of game management mechanism. Not so long ago there were threads simultaneously on RU, NA and EU from people asking why it was that DDs in particular were AFK at the start of a match - PC or connection problems should of course affect all classes equally. I kept a tally myself and, of the first 50 AFK ships in my games, 44 were DDs. That seems statistically significant.

Me & son both have same connection...running over a high-speed hub.

The only difference is his PC loads a bit slower, as my GFX card is twice the memory.

But we're in wayyyyy before the game starts. And we have not THAT good PCs.

I know a few that have WoWS, simply put: most that have W7 have no problems, W10 usually have some...

Might be. Im running Win7 and dont really have any problems with the game. 1 or 2 crashes per year usualy.

Yeah, It happens to me to but rarely. So I never report AFK-ers anymore since I have no clue what the reason is.

I don't normally report anyone until at least 5 minutes into the battle. Gives people with crappy computers and those who crash time to get back into the game. I know some people write in chat they are reporting Destroyers or Carriers 30 seconds into a battle which is crazy.

As there's the automatic penalty thing running I don't think it really matters if someone reports an AFK. If I report one, tends to be one that starts the game and goes to one corner of the game and stays there.

I don't think reporting for AFK actually does anything.   I've read the only report that actually reports the player is chat violation (and that seems to be an automated system based on the number of reports).   Reporting for 'bad play' just affects the Karma.

Disconnected players have the turrets in neutral position, afk'ers have the turrets turned.

Indeed, problem is concerning the amount of information that has to be loaded before start of the match. In 2017 for example i played mostly on an old laptop, had stable 35 fps on low settings but games (especially the first one ) were loading from 1 to 2 minutes, so beside crashes it's because ppl play on garbage.

There is an easier way if you don't like the MM. Go to map view and just plot some waypoints driving the ship right into enemy territory. I think that goes on a lot with some players who don't like the MM when it's bad, they plot waypoints so they don't actually look AFK

 

Seen some who plotted them taking their ship to the far corner of the map and then it's stops there AFK. They probably thought the ship would be killed before getting there.

 

Waypoint plotting can be taken advantage of like that at the very start of a game by all AFK players. It should not be offered to all ship types really for using it, only CV needs waypoints for ship map navigation. Due to the fact they spend more time in map view
