PSA (mainly for Weebs?) - Azur Lane mission

In case anyone hasn't seen, there appears to be a new mission chain that culminates in a ten-point Azur Lane captain: https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/sales-and-deals/january-missions-2019/

 

I mention it as it's another of the 'click to participate' things.

Thanks for pointing the mission out.

It's a three step mission:

Step 1 - Earn 10k XP - Admiral Hipper Flag

Step 2 - Deal 300K damage - 2x Azur Lane consumable camo

Step 3 - Earn 3 mil credits - Captain Aurora with 3 points

Final reward - Captain Hipper with 10 points

 

So it's pretty generous, with 2 collab captains given out for free.

If I can have an anime cat in command of my Shiratsuyu, I guess I can live with an anime woman in command of something German.

 

I'll need a separate captain for 150mm armed DDs (Gaede/Z-39) at some point at least.

That was mainly why I posted it - quite a few people have missed these 'sign up' things in the past. Daft mechanic - WG may as well assign the missions to everyone (and perhaps put a "you can switch them off, dammit!" message in the mission description for people who are allergic to anime)...

Given I already own two Hippers, what interested me the most was the Hipper flag.

 

And the flag works like a charm, given my first battle with it was pretty nice.

Switching form National+ to National voiceover modifier should turn off the collaboration voices.

Maybe but then

• ~60% of my captains speak languages I don't speak, or don't speak well;
• ~30% of the remaining 40% get a voiceover I DO understand but which is so bad (idiomatically) that it gives me permanent hives.

 

I am German but play this game in English because the German voiceover just makes me constantly vomit, what with all the errors and sloppy translations etc. (The American one isn't that much better but for some reason it just bothers me less.)

Yes, it does - except for the unique captains.

Azur Lane still speak Japanese, all incarnations of Dasha speak Russian, and let's just not talk about the Ovechkin voiceovers.

I'm still disappointed that we never saw either Mashiro or Wilhelmina as captains.

 

An extra captain with 10 points is nice. I honestly was expecting there would be some premium AL camo as well, but oh well. We get free stuff.

In that case the only options would be mods.

If i recall correctly Aslain has a weeb -> english mod.

Dunno if that's restricted to ARP-only though.

Is there not a tick box to turn the Azure Lane captains into 'standard' captains (and presumably make the cammo invisible too)? Basically, the same as the HSF toggle...

Paying weebs have a bunch of HSF captains already. And maybe ARP, if one was around for that too. Not that I'd object to a IJN captain, but France is the more pressing matter atm to me.
