[N3XUS] Yaskaraxx Players 1,101 posts 23,878 battles Report post #1 Posted December 26, 2018 ...NOT trolling here...never do trollings(!)....just wanna state: 11.7 km radar = TOTALLY ABSURD (....& 11.7 kms radar HURTS this game)...I see them...stationary...not even moving whole battle...just "clicking 11.7 kms radar from time to time"...stationary...this is NOT active gaming....11.7 kms, well, it HURTS the game...for many thousands of creative dd-players. STOP IT! look...9km radar...often some 4 enemy in battle having that...THAT is intelligent "Cat & Mouse-play"....requires skills from dd players (=OK)....VERY entertaining...that I admit = FUN! ...but 11.7 km radar...ahhh...no...is killing the battles....so enormeous powerful (ships with 11.7 dont even have to MOVE in battle...fully controlling 2x caps same time...they just "CLICK&WIN"...i know for sure... ...so NOW yr opinions! should 11.7 km radar be totally disappear?...i think so...for a full 100%....MAKE IT ALL 9KM (max)...is "tricky" enough, imho 1 4 8 6 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It's more of an intelligence tool to work out what the enemy is up to. It's the US/Brit long duration radars that are the real DD death sentences. There are ways to play against it. Worst thing about radar is it slows the game down for DDs as you have to assume the max range of the enemy DD is your concealment range. Unless you're in the mood to bait their shots, besides RU radar like others have said is short duration so the rudder can be used if it's not the entire enemy team shooting you. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Did testruns with this vs clanmates a while ago. Me in a YY (18.5k HP), no SE on captain. They - in a full concealment Mino (8.85km) with Radar (+ radar mod for extended duration so 10km x 48s). I'm going straight towards the Mino, full speed. Mino is coming straight towards me, full speed. This produces the worst case scenario where I in a DD am closing in towards the Mino with a relative speed of about 73kts (or actually 192kts due to scaling). To put that speed into perspective I was closing towards the Mino with a speed of 100m/s I in the YY am only "half-paying attention". That means - alt-tabbing to check something in the internet, talking on Discord about something unrelated, looking around, writing something, stuff like that. Only when my YY is radared can I start doing something about it. Every single time I got out with about 3...5k HP left. Then, of course, add 3.5k more from SE which you would normally have. Far from a guaranteed death And this isn't a case of potato aim, it was me as an "above average" DD going vs people who are unicums in cruisers overall and Mino in particular. A moskva can fire 2 max 3 (AR and Radar Mod) tops at that duration. If you get caught to a US radar.. you probably won't leave that spot alive or with much HP at best.
