IDK. I had two incidences of severe lagspikes as well since this weekend. Checked and nobody was downloading pr0n or something else. Cable connection. Replaced my router 3 weeks ago yet had unplayable spikes. Also read other threads about this. So it might not have been you OP. Not saying it's WG perse for that matter.
