Captain Skills vs Crew Skills

I come from WoT and am still adjusting to this game.  Just got my first tier IX.

What baffles me are the Captain skills . .

How can a Captain  - for example - have a skill that extends secondary gun range ????

In Wot - as you all know - we have crew skills. Commander, loader, driver . . etc.

Wouldn't it make so much more sense if we had something similar in WoWs  ?

There are so many men aboard a ship - why ignore them  ?

Captain skills could be view range and faster response to everything.

Gunnery officer skills could be faster reload, and better accuracy

Maybe add an AA gunny as well.

Helmsman - Faster rudder response, tighter turns.

Maybe even a cook - Better meals = better crew.

In short, the possibilities for crew skills are huge and would allow a much finer tuning of a vessel. compared to what we have now.

. . and then there are some skills that make absolutely no sense at all, like IF HE or camo.

You either have those shells, or the camo,  or you don't.

Even WG should  like this since we would have  have more men to retrain. :Smile-_tongue:

Your thoughts please.

He can - obviously.

More crew means more skills, means more difference between new and old crews.

High level captains are already very powerful, increasing that advantage is bad for new players.

please do NOT do crew system like in WoT. For the love of everything.

It is one of the biggest things why every time I try it again, I quit soon after because I cannot invest 2k games just to get a single skill.

The WoT skills work for WoT.

The WoWS skills work for WoWS.

This isn'y just tanks on the water and I don't see what changing the crew skill arrangement would actually bring to the game. Where do you draw the line? All two and a half thousand men on board an Iowa? It works for tanks as it's only small groups.

Massive advantages in WoWS commander vs WoT crew skills.  Most of all the free comander XP you earn after you get to 19 points.

I also played wot before and Wows captain skill system is definitely improvement over old Wot system. When they made it, they specifically wanted to make better system and even though it is not perfect, it's still much better than in Wot.

WoWs system is detached from what people could actually do to a pure gameplay experience tweak.

For me one of the big upsides of this game is that you cannot harm any (virtual) human beings. I really appreciate that you cannot kill or stun any crew. Personally I  do not need to  see blood splashing or people dying on screen to be able to enjoy this game.

Only harm done to any human being is hurt pride.

So, it is two nopes from me.

To OP: a bit offtopic, but maybe you should resist the urge to climb tiers so fast, and take the time to enjoy and discover the game at lower tiers.

(I am not sure how much of the experience from WoT would carry to WoWS)
