The first time you click on the "Santa Claus' Containers" button in the containers screen you are given two small containers for free. I got 50 Papa Papa and an Anshan, so they seem to contain some good stuff (or perhaps I'm just lucky). Either way, they are at least worth checking out.

I got coal (seems like I've been bad this year :Smile_trollface:) and commander XP flags. I must say, those are some nice gifts from WG!

LOL never thought of that...... funny thing to get in the gift boxes,... wonder if war gaming realised the meaning of coal as a present....

Sort of related: if anyone has a Boise/9dJ and is still grinding the 'get the other one' mission, it might be worth finishing before getting too many crates - both ships are options for ship drops.

I'm fewer than ten games away from completion (or one really good run in Hermes, I think), so I'll be holding off opening Xmas crates for a bit...

You can open those you have.. Content is determined when the box drop, not when you open it

Well, before the gifts/containers were revealed, I suggested to my division mate that WG should make Christmas-themed containers with a lot of coal or even give out a free gift with exclusively coal just as a joke. Sadly, I suspect that a lot of people would not see the humour of it. Personally, I think that would have been brilliant! :Smile_teethhappy:

Of course. Sorry - bad phrasing on my part...

Update: apparently, this is not the case this year - according to a couple of sources in the parallel Xmas Loot thread, content is determined this year when you open the boxes, rather than when you buy them (as was the case last year)...

Edit: source - Post 131 (about half-way down).
