Both in the video and on the website it says that everyone will receive two free containers. I didn't get them, what to do?
P.S. I just noticed that players from Belgium have the same problem. But i'm not from Belgium and still haven't received them :(

Belgian players have a different issue, please try removing any modifications you have installed (or start the client in safe mode) and see if that helps. Otherwise please contact our support team!

Soooo this is kind of awkward!
I have all the premiums on the list, any chance I can get Graf Zeppelin... or Kitakami? :Smile_veryhappy::Smile_trollface:
If I don't get a ship, I would feel like I was on the naughty list:Smile_smile:

Unfortunately not, if you really have all the possible ships you can only get doubloons.

I was surprised too, to see I was 'meant' to get 2 free containers.

The way I resolved it was to go to your container collection screen. Click on the 'Santa Container' button on the left hand side of the screen. You should be greeted by a 'secret santa' message and button to claim your gift.

Hope that helps :Smile_honoring:

When i click on the Santa Containers banner in the container screen it takes me straight to the purchasing screen. No secret Santa messages nor containers icon in the top right corner :/

I do not have any mods installed and running the game in safe mode didn't help either. I have made a ticket, we will see what happens once the support replies and i'll share the news here. Thank you o/

Loot boxes = gambling

This is using gaming to draw young people in gambling, it is immoral and should be banned.

By all means sell something, but we should all know what we will get for the money we spend.

Funniest thing is that WG not only destroying its own image in this gambling *edited*  scheme.

They also hampering down own revenue.

How?

Ok i got one box- won t61 in it.

Being aware of probability getting another ship- with is close to zero- i will not buy another box.

Simple.

At least you had a ship.

Last time I received a ship from any of the (free) containers, was an Atlanta somewhere in 2017.

The free halloween crates (I harvested ALL of them, plus some codes and crates here and there) netted me 2 new skins but the black crates and santa free crates, no ships whatsoever.

At least you received one.

I'm extremely confused, maybe because English is not my native language; How come I need to PAY for these Santa gifts??
This is the first time I ever had to pay for "gifts". In fact, I never heard about anyone who had to pay for their gifts during Christmas. Maybe someone can enlighten me here? Any countries where you need pay for your gifts?

You get 2 for free from WG, if you want to give some to others you have to pay for them and can then send them. That's why they call them Santa's gifts. This time of the year these things are quite common, at least where I live..

Anyway, merry Christmas!

How is the list of reward ships ordered? It appears to be mostly in reverse order of tiers, but the first few ships almost look like they're in their own reverse-ordered subsection. @MrConway please explain.

I am not aware of any particular order in the crates, the ships are not selected from an ordered list, but from the total pool of available ships.

If you are talking about the list on the portal, this is ordered to highlight some of the ships that are usually not obtainable.

The 2 free ones are clearly gifts from WG (in effect they are just like the daily XP containers really)

The rest are just a cynical marketing ploy to get people to spend more as it's Xmas and no different to any business encouraging the spending of money.

Which kind of makes it feel to me like the 2 freebies are no different to a crack dealer offering a free line to prospective junkies, or a casino giving a prospect some free chips. Exactly the same practice IMHO...offer a freebie to get 'em hooked on spending more cash on a brief high.

So we can suspect that WG can direct the lucky boxes in selected customers. I can not explain otherwise (like in the British Destroyers Event) how people buiy douzens of items and get nothing and others get EVERYTHING with limited efforts.

Statisticaly it does not make sence. Chrismas Offers could easily be 50% price in all premium ships and the one that wants one could have it. That way someone can spend 100euros and get nothing and another with 5 euros will get 5 ships.

Interesting thread this.  First a few pieces of information and then a bit on my personal experience.

First, partly thanks to the efforts of Electronic Arts, loot boxes and their ilk are classed as a form of gambling by most, if not all, European countries including the UK, however so far only Belgium has put down specific legislation to ban them.  Different countries, different priorities,  In the UK it's the high cost, high payout instant win gambling machines at bookmakers/gambling shops that are presently being targeted,  Over time the number of countries in the EU (and out) where loot boxes will be heavily regulated or banned will increase, and potentially it could become enforced law across the whole of EU if the European Courts decide to get involved.

Second, legislation on showing chances of winning is country specific.  In the UK I believe it is only applicable where the prizes are financial, i.e, fruit machines.  The percentage will always be less than 100% as these devices are designed to make money.

Third, percentage chance.  It is the same each time, that's the way RNG, both physical and electronic work.  Your chance of winning a ship does not increase with the number of crates you open, it is the same each time.  Which ship you get depends on what you already have, so it will be a percentage chance based on the number available.  Obviously Wargaming are not going to say if it's an equal chance or if it is another RNG against a pre-determined table.

In the UK any raffle where the proceeds are not 100% going to a charitable cause (which in theory needs to be a registered charity) requires a gaming licence.  Any lottery, 100 club, etc, where there are cash prizes, also needs one.  Run one without and have a sore looser complain to the police and the the organiser will end up in court with a criminal record (and a slapped wrist having being told not to do it again).  Note getting a licence is meant to be easy and presumably yhe limitations will be light (such as 18s and over only).  I've not done this myself, but a friend has and is about to do it for a group we're in.

On my personal experience.   Last year I bought 1 of each box and got nothing, then got five boxes, I assume the large ones.  From those I got 180 free premium and HMS Gallant, so was happy (at first was uncertain about the ship but liked it enough I had a lvl 13 captain before the RN DD event started).  This year I got nothing much from the two freebies, got 2000  doubloons and some camo from 5 medium boxes so lost out (by my views).  For some reason decided to go for 5 max boxes, got 2k doubloons from the first one, then ROMA from the second, and just signals/camo from the other two, so for me I'm happy - been playing the ROMA and enjoy her, even if the chances of hitting anything with the guns is lower than getting HMS Belfast from a loot box ;)

No it doesn't. Because WG can chose in which players it can provide "gifts". In an event in the past i did not get a supercontainer that the event was suposed to give. I wrote it here and by a "miracle"
the next day in the 1st box i had a supercontainer. Coincidence? Next example: Someone wrote that in Belgium gambling is forbiten and a moderator responed to that client to contact the WG suport team to solve this problem. That means that Belgium players can have better "options" to win prices directly from WG simple because gambling is forbiten. Lets supose than 1000 Belgium players contact WG suport team and get ships with their containers. THose 1000 SHIPS will be removed from the pool of the lotery the rest of thousands of customers that their countries allow gambling making the chanches to win a high value price almost 0. Let me remind you a video that someone bought 100 British Event containers and got NO ship at all but other had all 4 gaining not only REAL money but also almost 30 million game credits profit! I made the mistake and bough KII with real money. No way they will see my precius money again with such frauds. They could have 50% discount in premium ships and premium cammos for a week arround Christmas and everyone that would interest would buy what he would like. For example lets supose that i pay 40 euros and in the mega gift containers i have two destroyers ...I NEVER play with destroyers. So my money got wasted. But if with that 40 euros and a 50% discount i could buy 1 ship of my choice and a premium commo i would love to spent my money. Do you see my point here?

EDIT: I play this gae for 3 years now and got a handfull (less than 6 supecontainers) in random boxes ...Ofcourse in the hundreds of containers i gained i NEVER had a ship. Others "more lucky" (define lucky in this situation when everything is under a computer control that human hands can interfear) had numerus premium ships.

Tay blame hess self, and fool player, how ever, goodjob in belgium.

"The Belgium Gambling commision seems to have drawn similar conclusions. Thanks to Arkain for pointing it out. (Will post the official article in English once it's published.)

The Belgian gambling comission has now reached similar conclusions: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2018/0...ekt-ten-strijde-tegen--verdoken-kansspelen--/ (it's in Dutch, but Google Translate should work).

In short: the Belgian gambling comission investigated Star Wars Battlefront 2, Overwatch, Fifa 18 and Counter-Strike Global Offensive and found that all but Battlefront 2 are currently in violation of Belgian legislature regarding gambling and games of chance. The minister of justice wants to enter dialogue with all involved parties, but if nothing changes, fines of up to 800.000€ are possible (potentially even more, as minors are involved). To quote the director of the Belgian gambling comission: "Lootboxes are not an innocent part of video games that present themselves as games of skill. Players are tempted and misled, and none of the protective measures for gambling are applied.".

Part off Forbided Gambeling law,  WG is soon on blacklist ash PubG Frontnite,  have a big fine
"The gambling authority researched ten popular games with so called lootboxes. In four of these games the digital items of those boxes where able to be sold through external marketplaces for real currencies. Because the items are sellable they've got an economic value attached to them. Through this players can make money by obtaining rare items. This causes them to break the gambling laws.

"They're designed to be gambling games and give the player the feeling that they almost won. There are all kinds of audio- and visualeffects when you open a lootbox. This gives a player the urge to keep going." - Marja Appelman, Director of the gambling authority.

The gambling authority gives gamemakers eight weeks time to alter their games or risk getting fined or their games banned from the market.

In the six other games the items obtained form lootboxes cannot be traded and there for do not break the gambling laws. However, the gambling authority is still critical about this form of lootboxes."

About other countries:

Research on lootboxes is also being by done other EU countries. "This the subject where the gambling authorities across Europe are talking about. From Scandinavia to the UK" - Appleman.

The gambling authority wants to form a front with their EU colleagues to fight against loot boxes.

Apologies for the Dutch source. I did my best to translate a part of it.
