recognize this situation: here ya are with yr BB fully loaded flags & all kinds of prem. consumables etc. ---> battle kind of winning for yr team & still say some 18 ships in battle...and THEN comes along some smarta%s teammate dd going for enemy base capping like CRAZY?....result battle ends very, very fast leaving 14x players empty handed (= ultra low credits & low xp) just time wasted. I mean, when will people getta bit smarter and decide ta do capping enemy BASE at the RIGHT MOMENT(??)...i mean, if ya see yr team 65% sure gonna win, some 18 ships still in battle would be so much SMARTER to not cap enemy Base right away!!!!...i mean if such dd-player early capper would ever play Poker rl he/she would never ever make any real money, see what i mean(?), recognize this?...i mean, this happening too often. So my proposal kind of: why not give ALL existing ships an extra upgrade & call it SMART BRAINS!!!...yeah???

....if you ask me,  problem runs even much deeper, early base cappers imho favour masochism(!!) kind of cuz they also purposely deprive themselves of their own far higher credits+xp rewards!!...alternatively would be them having IQ, say, chimpansee-level?, nahh, can hardly imagine, so, pretty sure we are talking a bunch of hardcore masochists out there purposely causing some of my random battles being utterly ruined and think of this: why not give em the pink color also? as a temporary punishment? problem is, i figure: they even would like that! so,what to do? beats me

First of all: wrong forum section. This would belong somewhere into the gameplay section, not offtopic.

Secondly: been there, done that and will maliciously abuse if a team can't defend their base. Most hilarious example was when a mate and myself as bottom tier ships (him a Cleveland, back then tier VI and me in a DD) advanced down the middle of the Hotspot map and there was not a single enemy ship to be seen. Turns out the enemy team split perfectly even with one half going for the 1 line and the other half going for thr 10 line. The entirity of the middle of the map was completely free, including of course a straight path into their base (Standard Battle of course, as is topical). Our own team very much did the same with slowly crawling towards the 1 and 10 line (emphasis on the slowly!), except for my mate and me.

So we went straight into their cap and just sat there, the cap conquest and match timer happily ticking away. We asked in all chat if no one is going to defend their cap. Clock kept ticking. Our team's 10 line group spotted theirs, still happily advancing slowly (again, emphasis on the slowly!). A handful salvoes were exchanged. Just a couple seconds before we capped, we actually spotted the first ship ourselves, a cruiser that apparently noticed "hey, they're really capping us out" or some such and came back ... though even he must've waited until turning around a good while after after we asked in all chat if someone's going to defend their base because he never got close enough to spot either of us two and as such we won by capping out. Neither of us two ever fired a shot. Hardly anyone on both sides actually did any damage really because the maximum base XP for that game was in the low 200s (both my mate and me leading the pack, back then you actually got some XP for capping). Most of the scoreboard was around 100 base XP, some didn't even manage that. Both my mate and myself where basically pissing ourselves laughing from the moment on we noticed what's going on, throughout the whole rest of the match when it became apparent they won't defend or wouldn't even be able to if they tried at that point and for a straight five minutes after the conclusion. We were positively wheezing from laughter, breathless and my sides were hurting like mad, but oh boy was it worth it!

Moral of the story: defend your goddamn base.

...????...nahh...moral of story to me its more kind of: #1 ya should really opt for extra upgrade & #5 my points made fully proven, since yr obviously ONE OF EM!

...i mean...what about smart thinking here, i mean GET IT ALL is far more rewarding (also for yr team, remind!) meaning: capping and xp and credits and some 10x Karma plusses? yr example yr end-up totally empty handed, nothing getting out of it as a reward at the same time pis%ing off some 10 of yr teammates giving ya 10x karma -/- minus.....aiming ta get ta be mister popular this way???, i mean? THIS is certainly not award-winning-style-of-play?!!....just my opinion....I certainly would beat ya in any pokergame blindfolded, so to speak, lol

It's not only standard battles. Some teams are so bad that even in Domination mode you hit 1000 or they hit 0 early. In those cases I like to farm full HP ships instead of killing off the low ones. It's a clear sign of good game design when you deliberately avoid capping and killing the enemy so you don't get bad rewards. Yes you should try to win, but please don't win too hard. Nice logic! :cap_haloween:

That's actually why Hotspot instead of 3 caps in a line also got 4 caps in diamond shape with 2 caps already owned. The 4 caps with 2 pre-capped mode was introduced to help avoid games where one team sucks so hard that it loses on reaching 0 points from dying with no point source.

Sure they can try to mitigate the symptoms of an ignorant player base by tweaking the maps here and there. It doesn't work though, especially diamond Hotspot is terrible to watch: The teams split evenly and camp on their side until the battle is over.

There is two ways to do this: Dumb the game down until you reach the players or educate some of them. We don't like the first option and WG couldn't be arsed to do the second one for 2 - 3 years. In contrary, they like to hide some information from the players for some reason. (flooding chance?, AP pen?, '+' makes the minimap readable?, all useful options like smoke screen circles, last known position are off by default? , you can use credits for premium consumables?, etc.)

You could almost come to the conclusion they want their players to be as stupid as possible just to squeeze 20 doubloons out of them here and there from time to time. :Smile_coin: Yep, that's very much worth it.

Welcome to yet another Yaskaraxx thread! Where the Dunning-Kruger is so strong, you get physically dumber just by being here.

But, we can't make too much fun of poor Yaskie, he is suffering from a debilitating mental illness, afterall. Dunning-Kruger claims as many poor victims every year as alcoholism!

Actually, capping the enemy base early is quite a good tactical desicion, as it forces the enemy into a difficult position, either;

  1. They ignore it and lose.
  2. They respond to it, which forces them out of their positions.

In the first option, well...you've won.

In the second option...you might take a lot of damage from the enemy if they spot you, but the act of coming out of whatever positions they were in has left the enemy in a weakened tactical state. You may have even pulled them far enough back that your allies can take the advantageous positions formerly occupied by the enemy. Which increases your team's chances of victory.

Any team that gets capped out early basically deserved to lose.

I remember one match I had about two weekends ago on neighbours, I was in Minsk and was part of the northern team. I headed down the eastern flank (between the islands) and basically the whole team, besides a couple of BBs decided to go east, too. It wasn't long before it was clear the western (stupid) BBs were overwhelmed and I pinged the map to indicate that the flank was completely exposed and our base was open...Did anyone head west to intercept?

Like f*ck they did!

I noticed too late, and was forced to turn around as soon as the base capture klaxon went off. My spood beest needed another 30s for it to come off cooldown and I was the furthest one south on my team, so I was furiously pinging the map and pinging the base, but did anyone do anything?

Carrier did nothing. Useless.

Mutsuki was closest to the base, but he didn't bother to head for it, instead he turned around and smoked up an ally cruiser...who was the only other player who realised we needed to get into the base and was ploughing straight though the smoke. Useless.

I just couldn't get into the base in time, even at 49knt (when spood beest came off cooldown) - the enemy must have had at least three ships in there, two DDs and a cruiser (or possibly even a BB!:Smile_amazed:).

Total loss.

The Carrier and Mutsuki players got reports from me, not that it means much.:Smile_sceptic:

Capping early? I did that once with my New Mexico on Two Brothers.

I was the only T6 ship in my team, so I slowly went through the channel and capped the base without firing a shot.

The enemy didn't react either.

Needless to say, noone was particular happy about that.
