Spying on what, exactly? How I play World of Warships? My processor and graphics card?

Unless these crash reports are telling WG about my internet history, bank details and the colour of my pussy cat (grey) I don't see there's much of a problem.

Well, maybe they give you some thanks for learning of some new spots to visit and new stuff... purely nautical of course... :Smile_trollface:

Of course some people might also have the wish of WG not learning too much... like... about stuff you might use while playing WoWs...

They just collect crash reports for the Devs team.

Update 0.7.10

Technical Issues
Any critical error that occurs whilst the client is running will generate a special report that will be stored in a Reports folder. After that, you will be prompted to restart the client or close it.

This is the first stage in a process of implementing a new system for the collection of critical errors. In Update 0.7.10, such reports will be stored locally on players' computers but in future updates a special archive will be sent directly to the Dev Team to give them all required information about any occurring incident. In the near future, this system will let us decrease the amount of "manual" operations required from a player when contacting Player Support, or in other instances when more detailed information is required to handle an incident.

On a more serious note:

Pretty much everything built into and installed on your PC can be the cause of a crash in a video game. By gathering as much info as possible it becomes much easier to find the cause and develop a fix from there.

E.g. if you see that everyone who has regular crashes uses the same graphics card or driver version, that gives you a great starting point.

If it really concerns you then just run an autodelete app that wipes them the minute they are created.

job done

(That may well stuff up your support so ymmv)

If I am not mistaken, there is actually possibility to first of all read information how information they gather is not breaking EU rules, there was even link to it on the page. Secondly if you do not like people spying on you, do not use anything that have electronics in it.

On more serious note: you go to doctor and provide him with as detailed information as possible so he can cure you. Such logs are accurate. If support would start to ask people what generation of procesor they have, some people would have problem to answer correctly, and that is not even close to the details that are requested when crash occures.

That's a tinfoil hat theory right there and often the uninformed argument of people who have no actual idea what they are talking about.

There are ways to protect your data. They just take effort and will require that you leave your comfort zone of not caring.

Still... this thread is just as stupid as the quoted statement above.

I was expecting juicy info on spyware being injected during a crash report, and retrieving personal info.

Instead I get a crash report reporting xml data about the software that crashed.

Spying is a bit harsh when you compare to what google, amazon, FB et al are doing don't you think?

Why? Would you want to do a manual crash report every time something went wrong? I know I don't and sometimes it was impossible to provide proof of what happened to support, so you can imagine how fun that was.

Oh, but you did mention the data protection law didn't you? It's simple, you ask them for any info they have on you and they have to provide it to you or face massive fines.

Hope that helps :cap_like:

If you really belive that WG is sending more info then just crash reports, then rename or delete WargamingErrorMonitor.exe

Gee, I wonder how OP can even operate a computer in good conscience if he flips out over mere crashlogs.
