I have haida and I have Lightning, but that said I will sell Lightning. These rewards are totally useless. I look forward in getting some dragon flags.

Final Rewards are a waste. Only for looks, extra flag and different looking armor for Haida... But no special bonuses, nothing?

exactly - there is very limited group of people who could utilize 2 flags - alpha testers when they achieved some results in ranked battles. for everybody else it is useless (other than use it for some role-playing i suppose). 

good thing is though that when all ships have option for 2 flags we can take step further and make next rewards mind blowing 3rd flag - still useless for most of us but imagine the role-playing opportunities ... and then on top of that one could use another useless gimmick  - COLLECTORS CLUB batch.*edited* amazing creativity

There simply needs to be more Commonwealth Ships - American & British ships that were modified slightly and were in the Aus, NZ, Can & Indian Navies (& the unique Commonwealth ships)

Why do I want two flags? Because one of them will be the Jutland flag which is the RN flag defaced slightly and I'm from the UK, so that's just a national pride thing. The other is a pirate flag because I always liked the pirate flags, so yes an aesthetic.  They gave one away for free.  Furthermore on those premium ships where I bought an expensive package I can fly my flag of the ship and my Jutland flag.

In EU there is just the Alpha flag that has a bonus?

In NA (where my main account is) there is also the military month appreciation flag (referred to as the MMC flag) that gave a bonus, as well.

The contentious issue about the MMC flag is it gave those who got it an unfair advantage & you should have seen the turd storm whining that produced in the Forum there.

Such that WG has refrained from offering bonus flags ever since although there are many  other things that give small % bonuses.

The problem, really, is all the many decorative flags the Developers have made that have no bonus and, consequently, are barely ever seen (flown).

Personally, if I have two optional flag slots, I will fly a flag in each one. In NA, I have the Alpha flag to fly so I want a 2nd optional flag slot there.

A solution to this issue is WG should offer a minor bonus to all of the decorative flags so players will actually fly as many as they can.

Then we see the flags, the Developers artwork is acknowledged & all players get some minor bonus =  everyone could be happy & all the issues solved!

I would think the one needing a little calm here is you, you appear to be quite tense, but I recognise you're only projecting and probably don't really know how to recognise it yourself. The least you could do is to try be graceful when you're found wanting ol fella. Thanks for the insight as to why you like having two flags flying. Maybe WG could add a third for you one day, but you might just feel yourself overwhelmed with emotion. Could one truly experience a three flag aesthetic and not be overcome by it? I guess only time will tell. have fun, and remember, 'manners maketh the man'.

You're realise your answers only make you sound like a simpleton? I was wondering why people liked it beyond just an amoeba-like response, but if you have nothing more substantial then I guess I can see why they added an almost purely subjective aesthetic features like second flags, i.e. to keep the mindless amongst us dazzled by pretty colours and to appeal to the patriotism (borderline nationalism), culturalism and historically minded amongst us. The flags occupy quite a sizable part of the port, but add very llittle in terms of overall depth to the gameplay. In fact, the port is the only place we truly really see them. I hardly ever look at mine and would quite happily have the entire section removed. My opinion of course, maybe shared by some, certainly not by 'everyone'.

To sum up:

A)  Some players like being able to have two flags, and for a variety of reasons

B) Other players don't have any strong feeling for flags and cannot see why getting a second flag is such a good deal

C) Still other players fall somewhere between these two.

 

My gut feel is that not that many people fall into group A) but that it is still a good idea to cater for minority opinion and to provide the "two flags reward"

At the same time they need to cater for others and provide a more "mainstream" reward (for want of a better word), which they do but not very well IMHO.

 

My judgement is that this Royal Navy Destroyers Collection gives very poor rewards compared to the "Congratulatory!" Permanent camouflage offered with the "2 Years of World of Warships" Collection .

The rewards for that offered 4 camouflages for completing each of the 4 sections of the collection ( Z-23, New Orleans, Kiev & Charles Martel), plus a camouflage for Monarch for completing all four sections.

Can't help feeling is there were a flag for condescending twattery you'd want to fly three.  Or you'd try... I doubt you'd get it up.

If it matters to you at all, do it.  For my part I shall fly the flags I want because it pleases me so to do.  I will also vote in your poll.  I can do no more.

Well, I like HMS Lightning a lot. It is one of the few ships where the grind was actually pleasant. But now that I have finished it I probably won't ever play it again, so the camo will be useless to me (sadly)..

As I said in another current thread ("Ships you kept"):

Grinding the lines takes up almost all my time.After three years I have only grinded 12 lines. This means I have 10 lines still in progress, with at least 6 still to be introduced to the game.

If I had the time I would play Phoenix, Königsberg, Yorck (buffed recently), Admiral Hipper, Bismarck, Lightning

I'm not grinding any ships at the moment. There are lines I won't play at all (France and Italy) and lines I'm going no further down than I am (cruisers without smoke ;USN BBs) so I can just enjoy playing ships I like.  Once the RN CVs are out I may never grind again unless we get alternate DD lines for USN and RN.

 

Commanders are what I'm grinding now.

A bit of a late bump, but I think I got the reason. It's coming from WG-NA. Back in the spring of 2016, they had the "Military Appreciation Month", with a small & easy mission-chain (win a battle, hit 10 torpedoes, sink 10 ships, set 30 fires, deal 600k damage, all doable in PvE in 31 days time) that awarded a signal flag. But that signal flag had built-in bonuses (+5% XP earned, +5% Commander XP earned, +5% Credits earned), so people who had that flag just flew that flag, and all the other flags that came later were ignored. So by having the option to mount 2 flags, the ability to collect flags on NA isn't useless. 

 

Having commemorative flags with economic bonuses to them has since then been regarded as bad practice, that's why no other server ever got those flags, nor there will be any flags in the future that have them. Exceptions are the Alpha-tester flag KOTS-flag, WG-staff/dev/ST flags & the flags for community contributors.

I highly appreciate the collections. Now even more since WG dropped the deadlines on them. Appreciating the prem cammo for Lightning. I loved to play that ship. Though I'm developing a severe case of PTSD with Jutland now. Fueled by my malperformance in Ognevoi. (Don't look at my stats if you don't want to be contaminated). So I hope I'll dare to take out Lightning again in de future.
