@The_EURL_Guy    This  is Pretty much a perfect candidate for AN OPERATION...

1ST Battle of Narvik  RN attack  one operation

2nd battle of Narvik German DDs attempt to Escape

2 operations

How about invluding the very first battle og Narvik?

Where the two norwegian Coastal defence ships, pre dreadnaught, "Norge" and "Eidsvold", were sunk by the german DDs "Bernd von Armin" and "Wilhelm Heidelkamp"? The norwegian ships were taken by surpprise, and sunk in minutes.

Having lived in Narvik for many years, I know the story well. The wreck of Z2 Georg Thiele can still be seen on the beach of the Rombaksfjord, from the train you can see contours of the wrecks of more destroyers in the shallows at the end of the fjord. After the sea battles, the allies invaded, Warspite and the british ships shelled Narvik and later Bjerkvik, Grom, sister ship of Blyskawica was bombed and sank, (Blyskawica was also there, but survived). Plenty of material. During the fighting, 64 German and Allied ships were sunk, naval and civilian. (Even James Bond was there! Or rather his role model, Patrick Dalzel-Job, who against direct orders organised evacuation of civilians from Narvik before the city was shelled, bombed and largely burnt, saving some 4500 lives.)
I concur that the battles of Narvik could be used as basis for one or more operations. The backdrop of the magnificent nature, ships slipping into and out of view between the squalls of sleet, gunfire thundering between the mountains. Yep, I think it can be good. Very good.
