Clans: Fight Against Another Region! - Discussion Thread

Tuccy

The Сlan battles test of the season "The North" has been moved to the next week for technical reasons. From October 29 till November 04, four gaming sessions will be available: on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday. We are working on troubleshooting and sorry for the inconvenience.

i've made neither insults nor provocations, merely pointed out that the information you required was provided and that you seem to have missed it and lay the blame elsewhere.

Provided in an article which had an entirely different purpose, hence why we all missed it. We're not saying it wasn't posted, we're saying that it was not posted in the appropriate place.

Perhaps you're the one skim reading?

Jesus sake this. Namely the info is out there if you dig deep enough, but WG isn't really known for stronk communicating either.

it's a test event for 4 days only (3 now) it was clearly announced

Considering a test's intended purpose is to create statistics on whether something works and how it's only in WG's best interest to get as many people participating in the test, you'd think that would be enough motivation for WG to spare some time and write up a news article about the test specifically and put it front and center on the home portal to maximize exposure.

Mentioning it in the patch notes is the absolute bare minimum they could've done short of not mentioning it at all and even then it's not exactly standing out from the rest of informations bundled up in there (and yes, I've gone and checked). It wouldn't even surprise me if today's article about it wouldn't have been a thing had there not been problems that led to today's planned session being cancelled.

Communication isn't a one-way street. Just as much as people can't expect to have every information spoonfed to them, WG has to give informations an appropriate amount of exposure for people to take note/not overlook it in the first place. Especially when WG can only get better returns in form of a more comprehensive testing by making more people aware of it at the cheap expense of making a dedicated announcement in due time.

ok we have a scrub pile on that's 3 of you  :)
just chill out, accept you missed the info on  it.
it wasn't a major event, just a first test of cross server.
if it works and this is determined to be the way forward, I'm sure WG will make a bigger thing of it.

try real hard not to overreact to something that is absolutely trivial, you might find life easier.

We are a clan comprised almost entirely of people who were all forumites and played together before clans were a thing, lo and behold, we have a pretty active forum presence.

A Test of a Clan Wars is a major event, sorry, no matter what way you slice it, it is. Hence it's not trivial.

See the thing is, we really wanted the game to be great, to be successful and last a long time, every last accusation and complaint we have ever posted here stems from that. It's literally painful to watch Wargaming shoot themselves in the foot, repeatedly, say they learn, and watch them do it again. So you'll just have to forgive us if we take issue with what's being practiced.

if you are so active on the forums as you claim, but missed this...well that's on you.
your clan is well respected but really, this is comical.

Yet you started all this with being annoyed at us for wanting WG to be more clear in announcing these things? Take your own advice maybe :Smile_coin:

Funny you say that, because once the test was name-dropped on the forum (i.e.: this exact thread here) we found it immediately. It's almost as if being active on the forum means being active on the forum, who would've thought.

It also exemplifies how much easier it is to find such informations if they're properly presented, proving out point.

The point is over your head.

That thread, yep. The one that says 'Update 0.7.10.' 'Patch Notes.'

Nothing in that headline mentions the Clan stuff, nothing.

That was the ENTIRE point of what we said.

Notice how I'm highlighting in bold and italics?

Yeah. Apparently I need to to point you in the proper direction.

Well, I fully apologize to you personally for not going through the patch notes with a fine tooth comb and suggesting WG might not have announced this CB test correctly. Clearly I was wrong and you are right. Are you ok now?

Oh yeah, let me quote the opening post of that thread ...

All that talk about clan battle testing, I can scarce believe we missed that ...

yeah now i'm taking the piss.

And once more you completely miss the point.

It's not about the information being on the forum. It's about the information being readily apparent on what it's about, making it easier to find the information among everything else.

There's a difference between having a ton of informations bundled up under the guise of "patchnotes 7.10 - british destroyers" that just so happens to mention the clan battle testing in a sub paragraph and having the information being name-dropped specifically so even a cursory glance over the various news articles immediately shows what's about.

You'd think in the information age, people have learned how to present information.

But whatever, it's clear you don't mean to see any fault on WG's part here so I won't waste anymore time trying to clarify. You need not waste yours responding to this.

So, technical issues don't seem solved.

We're currently staring at our port with our division status saying "in battle" and nothing is happening.

Btw, looks like we're going to have to find some EU nightbirds willing to stay up late, if we want to combat NA clans....

just a first test of cross server

This announcement of a Cross Server test is not, in fact, the first test of cross server play, although this play test may be different.

The first cross server event was the recent 'Supply Lines' event.

A few points about the Supply Lines Event.....

1) Only those players who actually read the News Releases or read/participate in Forum discussions were aware of Supply Lines. Even here, many players were not aware of Supply Lines.

How many players actually knew about supply Lines? Not likely very many percentage-wise of the total WoWS population on any or all of the WoWS Servers.

2) There was something like 4,000 Clans who signed up for the Supply Lines event ( normally the Clan Commander or an Officer had to register the clan, I believe).

3) quite a large number of clans who registered for Supply Lines failed to even play one battle in any of the three weekends of play. Something like 1500+ clans failed to even play one battle (which is a remarkably high number/percentage).

4) EU & RU server Clans dominated, especially the EU clans. NA was third in participation with SEA a distant fourth.

5) The big Clans dominated in numbers of players who participated. No surprise there, really.

6) My personal experience was this; I, a NA Clan Commander registered. My clan (First International Fleet) is simply a small group who make use of the clan port bonuses. We don't even play clan battles. In supply Lines, although I sent messages to all clan members, my clan had just three players who participated. Even with this paltry participation my clan finished something like 1,560th out of the 4,000 odd registrants. Way out of the running (for top spots) but better than a lot of the participating clans. My point is, a lot of social type clans barely participated in this event and the same is likely to be the case with this new proposal.

In conclusion, I suspect this new Cross Server test will appeal to the main clans and the players who follow the News Releases. However, I also suspect that the lack of WG communication to the 'many players' about this event will limit player participation.

There is something called the 'port' where all players must enter to choose a ship to play. I would suggest that this main page/window is where WoWS should discreetly advertise their new content - not overwhelming but where players can read about new things - perhaps a small reward of Camo/Signals for actually reading thru the news release (like have a pop up window to click on at the end of several windows explaining the new thing) would encourage players to actually READ the notices.

So I knew about the event. Yes communication could be better. Yes people should read more and complain less.

What I'm wondering is why this event at all? I know we'll play. But it's not like we're jumping up and down out of excitement. We'll play for the rewards and because doing things together with the clan is fun. But not because other continents are involved. And isn't that precisely what causes the 'technical difficulties'? The other continents/servers being involved?

Can we not just move on? Scrap this idea or make it a long-term/soon plan and solve most difficulties first. This cancelling is a bit frustrating.

I for one am looking forward to the CV rework. I am looking forward to an improved, responsive, not lagging port-UI. And I'm looking forward to the next Clan Battle season for EU and possible new developments on that.

There are many things I'm looking forward to. But playing with other continents isn't one of them. It is not that I mind or dislike the idea. I just don't care about them.

Sorry, but there are some opposite statement in the News article that specify Clan test battles. Can WG clarify?:

1) Solved: The timing differences were due to daylight saving time. Ok!.

2) Days to play are different:

in the RED paragraph is stated they'll play 25th and 28 - 29.  Here in Forum is 23 and 28 -29th.

Also, as you didn't held yesterday 22nd, why not add another day?

Thank you!

UPDATE!

More confusion emerge looking at the Schedule inside the game on Clan battles pop up. Which one is right??  Here it is:
