Not a Hockey fan, have heard of him 2. Hockey fan, have heard of him 3. Not a Hockey fan, haven not heard of him 4. Atleast thats how it was for me, i usually watched the world cup or Olympics, but never was interested in any league (germany nor finland), until a couple of years ago when i got interested in the NHL. By watching those you normaly get to know the more famous players (to which Ovechkin definetely belongs). Alltho the Olympics usually feature more of the best players, since the NHL does take a break for those, but not for the World cup^^ And the majority of the best players are playing in the NHL. I'm a Brit where Ice Hockey is never shown, but I've seen Ice Hockey while working in a few countries where it's popular or with people that are obsessed with the game like the Canucks tend to be. Won a Stanley Cup the most recent season after 13 years or so in the NHL. Probably in a three man race to contest for the scoring title this year again. edit: If you're a fan of ice-hockey, you will have heard of him, unless you've got a very narrow scope of interest. Of the current players Ovetchkin might be the biggest star. Of the active players you've got Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid too, but I doubt they are more known in the world. I have travelled to Canada and the USA following F1 GPs and my friends in Totonto do follow Ice Hockey and I picked up some knowledge from them (I think we watched some of a Stanley Cup game in 1993 when we were at Indianapolis for the Indy 500 in 1993, Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
