Grom-Class Camouflage By TicoXotaR.

The Grom - Class destroyers emerged into one Camouflage. Grom (Thunderbolt) And Blyskawica (Lightning). Each part of the ship represents a part

of their History during WW2 and after.

  • The Red badge at the front with the sword and two fish, represents the flag of the polish city Gdynia. This is where Blyskawica rests as a museum ship.
  • The black badge with three lightning bolts, is the badge of the HMS Lightning, which was replaced by Blyskawica after being sunk by a Torpedo.
  • The Polish flag with 59 stars, is in memory of the 59 sailors who were lost when the Grom was sunk by Aircraft.
  • The four black stars are the planes that attacked the Grom.
  • The Union Jack and Polish flag in the Centre, Symbolises Blyskawica's bravery as it defended the Isle of Wight from night bombardment.
  • The 2x2 bofors tips are worn out, this is because it fired so much ammunition without stop, the guns kept overheating, they had to doused with water from the river to cool down.
  • The knocked out torpedo tubes along with the large crack in the ships hull, is where a bomb from a German aircraft hit the Grom, breaking the ship in half.
  • The lightning bolts on the funnel and at the end, each represents a part of WW2 Blyskawica took part in: The Norwegian Campaign, Operation Dynamo, The Peking Plan, The Battle of Ushant and Operation Deadlight.
  • On the top of each of the main turrets, there's a special badge or symbol:
  • Turret 1: The Isle of Wight flag, for defending the island with her four AA Guns whilst going under a emergency refit.
  • Turret 2: The Dunkirk Medal.
  • Turret 3: The Badge of the HMS Lightning.
  • Turret 4: The Virtuli Militari (Military Virtue) award, for Blyskawica's herorism and courage during WW2.

I wanted to reference the ship and her history, but still keep the look somewhat realistic:

I wanted to make it as simple and thrilling as it could be - while maintaining its "utility" in terms of a realistic battlefield setting (and to make it look good even on lowest texture settings *wink*. The skin resembles a white eagle in full-speed charging attack. Moreover, the name of the skin comes from the polish word "szarża" which means "charge", it adds some power to this little brave destroyer :)

Would not mind a Tirpitz for uglycousin on EU server.

maybe you dont know it, but Great Britan betrayed Poland too many times in modern history. this is their nature. 1st time before 2nd Warld War, and in efect Germany attack Poland in 1939. and in Yalta Churchill gave Poland to Stalin. so yours idea with Polish and GBs flag is disgrace

and after WW2 Polish Army who fought for GB was not invited to parade of victory. so you can make your project again with BIG inscription "FCUK"

Hey pagliacci, the "twisted idea" here was to make the ship stand out more rather than hide it better with the custom paint job. A warning, as this camo would increase it's firepower and make it more deadly in combat. Thus the radioactive warning. As for the "dead men tell no tales" feature, well, when the ship is taken out and it turns belly up, it would keep providing vision to your team until it completely goes under. Also, it's funny. :)

Not being polish, I have no true insights regarding polish history, so I went for a humorous approach. If it would be practical or not, that I cannot say. :)

First, thanks for wargaming for holding such camo contests, thank you very much!

Also thanks to all the creative minds in our wonderful community. it´s a joy to see lots of different ideas and fantastic camouflage designs.

Inspired by a lot of great designs from past community entries I went to create my own design and here it is.

Design:   POLISH FURY  - Inspired by the will of the polish people to fight and survive during one of the darkest times in history.

Colortheme: The red colour pattern should resemble that Fury, while i wanted to hold the rest of design more simple with the overall theme of the polish national colour pattern.

I had a fantastic time creating this camo and i love what it has become in the end. I hope you do as well.

With best regards, Nordi_Aut (EU)

Camouflage name: clownfish

I was inspired (as the name says) by clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris).

I like some fish ornaments and they inspired me.

I know it is not the best idea for Polish ship, but I like it. It's simple and the contrast between white, black and orange is nice.
