So I have Bert Dunkirk as a captain.

On which line do you guys think he is suited best? BB's, CA's or the upcoming DD line?

jack is on the belfast, as that's the ship that benefits the most from all his specials. bert i did put on my monqueror, as the improved jack of all trades seems to at least lessen a bit the atricious cd's on it's reapir and heal. experts marksman does help as well ofc, but joat is the skill for which i did put him on the conq on.

He fits every ship you use his skills on.

I put Jack on KGV and Bert on Conq. Using several T2 skills. Working on KGV to increase the points as I like to play KGV more, currently only at 14 as other ships (lines) have been prio.

Same here!

I have Jack specialized for my "Belfast" but he is stationed on "Edinburgh" (IFHE wasted - but the rest of 15 points used as expected - special skills "Jack of All Trades" and "Smoke Screen Expert" used - "Expert Marksman" not used).

I have Bert on my UK BBs (currently "King George V") but he also plays "Premium" RN BBs ("Nelson", "Hood", "Duke of York") - special skills "Jack of All Trades" and "Expert Marksman" used - "Smoke Screen Expert" not used.

Well, BBs and CLs are IMHO the best place for either of the two dunkirk brothers. The actual ship then depends on personal preference.

Back when there was only Jack, mine traveled all the way from Fiji to minotaur until WG changed the RN cruiser smoke shortly after the smoke fire changes in late 2017. With SSE not being that much of a deal anymore and Mino not needing EM, I swapped mine to the Fiji and after a skill reset geared him for HMS Belfast.

With the release of both his brother Bert and Mrs Maidfast from the AL cooperation, I shuffled him around again.

Jake is back on the Mino, due to the fact that I run it with the legendary upgrade as some kind of obese DD whenever I'm in the mood to division up with a Clanmate in his Worcester. Which means I put points into both his boosted SSE and JOAT skills, the rest is pretty much run of the mill : PT  + PM, JOAT+SSE+AR, SI, CE +AFT

Bert sits on Conq due to the fact that both JOAT and EM are useful here.

Belfast sits on Belfast and is still assigned to the Swan... *cough*

Sure, on Belfast or Fiji I could make use of all three buffed  dunkirk skills, but I don't think I need them. So I'm fine with just having a dedicated 19pt captain on Belfast and a spare 10pt captain on Fiji. :)

Their 3 upgraded skills were designed to fit in with the mid tier CL line and to get the best out of them that's were I have put them. I have Jack in the Edinburgh and Bert is going in the Emerald, but only because it's existing commander was still 'unskilled' from one of those free skill rerolls and so was an obvious choice to move to the new DD's.

My Jack Dunkirk is on Conqueror, and Bert Dunkirk on Minotaur.

Tbh these captains fit great on any ships from cruisers and BBs, even DDs.

Now there would be a scenario where I would consider putting him back on the Belfast : dual nation captain that works both for RN and commonwealth, so Belfast + Perth

Jack is posted on the Belfast, and Bert on the Fiji.

I guess might at some time in the future consider putting Bert on a British destroyer, depending on how much I get to enjoy that line of ships.

Im wondering could I put Bert on Acasta, as I struggle with this ship, to improve its performance, or just get a regular Captain and train him from 3 points up.

Well you can but having his improved joat on acasta seems a bit of a waste thb if i would consider him for a dd it would be cossack that has 4 consumables

Both dunkirk captains will be less useful on DD line, as you can only take really advantage of smoke screen expert perk as if you go up the line, at least T9 and T10 have 360º turrets so you do not really need expert marksman (on low tiers has some use)

As Yedwy said, joat has little sense on acasta and if you use it to get better turret traverse, you won't take full advantade of that on high tiers as I state previously, T9 and T10 have 360º turning turrets so you shouldn't suffer to keep them pointing enemy.

Considering the limited number of smoke puffs you get on the British destroyers, I figure that 'Smoke Screen Expert' will be at least moderately useful on them (although probably not quite to the extent of its usefulness on the cruisers). And 'Improved Expert Marksman' is at least as good to have on destroyers, as on cruisers. So I've just reassigned Jack Dunkirk as a destroyer captain. If that works out well, I will keep him there and retrain his cousin Bert for the Belfast in his stead. I guess the Fiji will have to make do with a normal British captain.

It all ends on how you play these ships. But if you play both RN CL and RN BB lines, dunkirk captains make more sense on them rather the DD line. But that's my personal opinion, so eventually it's up to anyone to make their choice.

You may very well be right about this. Depending on how well I like the new British destroyers, I might switch back. The Dunkirk cousins do a great job on British cruisers, to be sure, but for some reason I don't really play the Belfast all that much. Maybe she's kinda too good - I get the feeling I get focus fired as soon as I take her out of port... is this maybe familiar? And although I quite like the Fiji, I always miss the ability to set fires when I take her into battle. If I could place a Dunkirk captain on the bridge of my Perth, now there's probably where Jack would spend the rest of his career and no mistake.

And I know a lot of players put the Dunkirk cousins on their battleships. Personally, I think this is a bit of a waste. The 'Improved Expert Marksman' skill is of course useful on all ships except US destroyers and their ilk, but the 'Jack-of-All-Trades' skill seems better on cruisers or destroyers than on battleships, and the 'Smoke Screen Expert' skill is (thankfully) completely useless on any battleship so far.

But as you say, it is really up to everyone's personal preferences! :Smile_Default:

I want to thank everyone for their comments and feedback.

I decided to put him on the BB line. Also since I got the Warspite out of the Royal Navy event so I can play with him on that ship.
