You should have gotten an email with a username & password to use with the TST client.

If you didnt get said email then you are most likely not part of the testing.

Is that supposed to be helpful?.. it isn't.... I think that I made a mistake when installing, possibly installed a second EU server instead of TST.. I now can't get back to the page as shown in the e-mail 'publication' link...... I have been trying to sort this out and only just realised my mistake, if indeed that's what I did...lol

Indeed. If you read that damn email you don't install second Eu server :D

Okie dokie :) First of all, nice view from planes......second, you need some time to adjust on new game play, third, really it's huge amount of money the repair service of the ship...........something needs to be done with it.......i hope it's a bug.

Yep, I just quit, no money to fix anything (5 million for the Ranger? When we won and I'm alive????)

So second impression. You can't lock plane squadrons with Ctrl+fire button. Is that a bug or it's how's done from now on?

Initial snap-judgement feedback.


Whilst in control of planes 


- AA against me could do with some form of indicator that its light or heavy AA. We get the yellow mark to show we're in AA range but one example I had 4 planes, then I had no planes a few seconds later without any obvious indication  there was a lot of AA - Heck I could only see one ship within 5k range - After all planes died I noticed a cruiser/dd in smoke not far from where I was.


- Torpedos' don't get any form of assistance in terms of where to aim/drop. DDs/Previous Torpedo runs give you a drop line for straight lining. This would be beneficial if possible, even if not 100% accurate. I missed. ALOT.
 Because I had flown over the ship and lost my planes to AA I didn't realise I was missing by a lot.

 

-Dive BOmbers - the Grey targeting reticule is "too far out" from where your likely to then be aiming to drop. This really needs to be where your bombers will then be aiming or at least a little bit out - not... an entire BB length out, especially with a small window. Throw in the 2-3 seconds lag delay (bug later in this post?) it is... horrible to control.


Bug? I cant see friendly torpedoes in the water when flying my planes meaning - I wasted Torpedos against a BB which was as good as dead.
Bug? There is a good 2-3 seconds lag between moving mouse OR pressing A/D to adjust the course of the plane - mean lots of last seconds "twitches" happening after you think you've got it lined up just nice, resulting in misses.


What I don't like - like actually hate, is having to press "F" to be able to switch back to my ship to adjust course, speed etc.. and then having to relaunch the planes that have returned & rearmed.
Another thing I don't like - Not being able to manually target my AA. I had some Torpedos coming in to my side and some bombers coming at me from the opposite side - I wanted to shoot the torpedoes - side on - more damage potential. In the end I popped my AA and i don't actually feel like it did anything - i ate a few torps and got hit by some bombers.. then died to an enemy BB :D

HOWEVER - It is fun.

Again just first impressions from a VERY rare CV but frequent cruiser player, from the CV side as has been said AA is pretty fierce but not much in the way of indication of heavy/light ,full squad to smoking wreck in seconds.

But from the other side i much prefer the old way of selecting a particular threat to focus fire on as opposed to just saying port or starboard .

 

Quite enjoyed the torpedo bombers but it would be nice to be able to see where the torps went if the squad is wiped out even some sort of replay just untill you get your eye in.

Would agree with JuneauEu on 2 points the dive bombers reticule is too far forward you think its on target but when you drop in you need to speed up to hit the mark, and the response of the planes to directional commands is simply bad A/D or mouse controll lag so much

i was looking at the front of my planes at times.

BUT to be fair as a Beta i enjoyed my first outing in the CV.

My only other gripe is (and this is personal) it would have been nice to try all the ships with enough credits etc to actualy service them between battles, played a battle in a Ranger and had to go out in a half arsed Worcester due to lack of funds to even put all the modules on it.

There will be better CV players not having to do this but WG manage it on the public test server ok.

again it is FUN :D

are there any training video's yet, the 'Help' section still seems to show the old CV methods... so far I'm finding the TB's the easiest to hit with, only had two games with a CV but slowly getting the hang of it. the first attack I started far too early and have wasted a couple of attacks due to this.

 Had close misses with rockets and some bomb hits but I think this is just down to needing more practice.  sometimes the planes take a long time to change direction, in one case they were flying the other direction from that I wished to go.

it's been some time since I last played CV and so far I've failed to have more than one flight in the air at a time.. perhaps someone can remind me what I'm forgetting, I can't find anything within 'help' or settings, or am I just blind?.  

I like the visual attack from the planes, this was something that was missing before, it feels much more 'hands-on' with the new mode.

I feel that there needs to be a quicker way of switching from plane to ship or again am I missing something here?

so far I'm enjoying the test..

Okay,

 

Issues so far:

 

- Planes melt way to fast. Especially in Fighter attack ( deployable fighters just eat your squad, no skill required).
- Rockets deal no DMG, neither CV, or BB, or DD take any DMG: I did 7 Hit runs, 0 DMG, 0 Fire

- Bombs do no DMG either, deal fire DMG.

- Torpedos are the hardest to hit and do no DMG whatesoever.

I often had rounds with like 40+ Hits and 11k DMG dealt. Sorry but not. Crank that Number up, even if we are at T6, that number needs to be WAY higher. Like 50k at least

What kind of CV have u played? Was it T6 or T10? Because my point is totally different. 

 

I've played all 4 CVs already and I must say that changes are good. I mean direction of rework. Playing CVs now is more fun, controls are intuitive, and hitting with Midway's HE bombs for 20k with 2 fires Montana is so satysfying.

 

Now I would like to say about several situations I had.

 

1. While playing Midway I sunk Shima ~3000 HP standing in the smoke with a 1 salvo of rocket planes. From my point of view it is too easy to attack DDs in smoke now due to perspective I have when flying. Shooting DD is "visible" due to tracers. I know it was possible before but now it seems to be easier.

 

2. While playing Yamato I noticed that its AA is useless. Totally. Montana have much better air defence. Yamato never had strong AA but it was quite good. Now it is totally unplayable.

 

3. While playing CV and turning on "the map mode"  it should be possible to:

- use repair party when aircrafts are in the air,

- change course and speed without creating whole path.

 

4. There should be a "cool down" for aircrafts at the beginning of the battle. Way it is now create a problem of instant spot for enemy team. Aircrafts should "load" like torpedoes do, but only at the start.\

Both T6 CVs.

 

I did 7 hits per Salvo ( waiting very long to have the smallest rectangle possible ). Still it only counts the hit but DMG dealt is 0 and no fire.

I attacked a DD, a CL, a BB and CV. ( Assuming e.g. the BB I attacked first was too well armored to be afflicted ). However the result is the same. Hits on deck and belt, but just fireworks. No DMG.

 

Also most of the time against on par Ships, T6 only after all, my planes cannot make more than two attack runs. They are dead by then and I mean no CL with defensive AA. Just a regular BB is enough to make it impossible to use the full strike potential.
