What we're aiming at is to remove the delay between the appearance of the ship icons on the minimap and their models in the 3d world, thus making the game more comfortable and player-friendly. We invite you to participate in the second stage of our 0.7.8 public test and try out the first version of the improvement. Please note that this is just the first public test of this feature and that the tech involved is quite complex, so the improvement is not going to make it in to the 0.7.8 update. We can already see some artifacts when the ships are displayed at a distance and we need to find out how much it affects gameplay. We would really appreciate your involvement and feedback since this change needs to be tested very thoroughly. Please try the improved technology out and tell us what you think! We fully understand how important it is to implement, so should the testing be successful and the feature stable, we want to push it through to the live servers as soon as possible. [THROW] wilkatis_LV [THROW] Players 5,061 posts 10,702 battles Report post #4 Posted August 10, 2018 Comparative Training Room tests show there's no significant difference between 0.7.7 (live) and 0.7.8 PTS (Round 2) ship rendering for both - 1st time spotting and re-spotting the ship. If anything, ships tend to render in quicker on the live server, but that difference mostly doesn't go past 0.1s Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The delay on the live server is around 2 seconds, on PTS it's more like half a second or shorter. There still is a delay however which is especially noticeable when a DD shoots while smoking up at full speed. The delay is long enough for the DD to not render. Overall the spotting works much better for surface-detected ships and detected ships which enter the visual range, I haven't seen any artifacts. PC: i7 8700K, GTX 1080, 16 GB RAM, game on SSD Samsung 860 EVO 1TB, Ultra settings, 2560x1440. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Spunyarn Players 533 posts Report post #6 Posted August 10, 2018 I've not actually noticed any difference, though I only played the 5 Co-Op games for the reward and once a bot gets spotted it tends to stay spotted. But in some ways that I've not noticed anything is good as it shows I've not had any problems with artifacts or with being able to see the shells in the air and the enemy ship on the minimap without it having been rendered in the main view. The good news is that the Charles Martel reload nerf doesn't seem to be as bad as I was fearing. Render delay seems to have improved, and I *love* the 4K support, although I am not sure I have figured out the correct settings to make the aspect ratio seem right. [WGB] iJoby Community Contributor 2,171 posts 30,925 battles Report post #11 Posted August 12, 2018 I played my usual games on PTS to get the rewards for the main server. 1: Pro, Detection Mechanics are much better. 2: Con, The anniversary collectables pumps out over 110% duplicates when it should be 33%. 3: Con, not enough players on PTS to play ranked battles or any battle TBH, Remedy for this is to offer better rewards for the main server for playing PTS.
