So i started playing BBs again after very long time, previously i tried IJN BB line but i quit it for 2 reasons, Izumo, which is probably worst ship in game imho, and second reason i forgot in time, but now when i started to play BBs again, this time German line i remembered reason 2 - utter insanity of aiming-shooting.

How do you cope with this insane, illogical, random, infuriating and pure casino of a targeting and hitting/not hitting system that WG has made?

It just blows my mind how i can shoot whole salvo to cruiser that is 8 kms away from me, who is afk, and i miss all shots - some land on one side of ship, others on other side, its just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

How do you cope with that and how if at all is it possible to mitigate this insane randomness.

Why am I surprised that he would change ship type and still find a cause to whine about it?

You do NOT salvo a cruiser that is 8 km away... unless he is broadside, and YOU are too...

Even if he is, then you still need to know where to aim (in this case, he is 'parked'and AFK, so, middle, on the waterline).

If you fire, the shots will usually fall in a LINE that is the same orientation as your ship.

SO yes, you can fire at a broadside cruiser, and it will create a 'line of holes' across that cruiser.

BETTER is to not 'salvo' but fire each turret one-by-one. Aim for each shot.

Hit the cruiser citadel 3 times and he is guaranteed dead.

Why am i surprised that you show up on any topic that sheds some light on things that are bad in this game and leave there some stinking pile of crap in defense of indefensible.

If you

a)think BB aiming is fine, you never miss shots that should not be missed, then good, jog on

b)if you do miss shots that should not be missed, but still defend that, well jog on

c)if you have NOTHING productive to say, jog on.

You expect to miss most shells, to get 1...2 hits per salvo. That's exactly what you get. And then, every now and then you just 100 to 0 a cruiser, which makes it all worth while

Don't expect anything and you won't be dissapointed. (Then again, we are playing WoWS...)

The dispersion of BB guns is one of the results of balancing all the other characteristics like damage and calibre (helps with overmatching armour).

You can try to decrease the dispersion, e.g. by modules, or to get closer (although it is still RNG-dependent). But the only way to cope with it is the sentence above. And that you try to never rely on a single salvo because more often than not you will need several for what should be gg ez.

I'm just laughing.

And awaiting you trying CVs and CA/CLs only to find out there's something about them that makes the game entirely destroyed.

That you call something "indefensible" when you can't write one line without massive hyperbole just makes such claims entirely without power.

/and if you think BBs should hit all shots they fire, then you're crazy. They're already dominating both CAs and DDs in damage done, and such a suggestion would quadruple their damage.

Simply don't answer this troll, he is in every ship unsatisfied and crying about all ship classes.

And when someone disagree he says the other should left the thread! :Smile_teethhappy: ( seems he think he owns a thread )

Or even worst he start insulting if he has no arguments left.

I would suggest him to play another game.

Yes there is aiming. When you aim. you set the point from where dispersioon is calculated.

If there were NO aiming, you just push the button and pray. Like most secondaries.

Yes.

Just like there is no way a BB full broadside at under 8 km can survive a full BB salvo.

Oh wait. Only one of those happens frequently, and the other extremely rarely...

But sure. Cruisers are overpowered as hell, that's why you see five of them in EVERY game :Smile_sceptic:

I go in with the expectation of being a damage sponge. Any damage done is a bonus. Pretty fun battles nonetheless.

The strength of the German battleships is not their guns but their survivability.

As such, they can withstand more fire from the opposition whilst retaliating compared to other battleships. If you still are having problems with the guns, sail closer to the enemy (though not into a superior force, obviously).

Well, have you fired a gun? I'm thinking here more in the way of a MG or a assault rifle and not a rifle. With those you have controll over where the shots go, but more specifically in an MG there is certianly some real life RNG involved with shots deviating due to your own handling or depending on the barrel.

Same thing with an assault rifle. In a stressed situation your first shots will be on point but if you are moving about and "slack" with the recoil shots will start to deviate naturally.

RNG is certianly present, sometimes to a stuoid degree. But you do still retain some controll over your aiming, it is just not a prayers game.

Struggling with AP RNG? Tired of those annoying HE spamming cruisers getting away alive from under your very nose? Feeling frustrated after a salvo seemingly destined for a citadel ends up in a load of meaningless overpens?

WG already have an answer for you my friend. You know what they say... "When you can't beat 'em, join 'em"?

Introducing the RN Battleship line! :cap_tea:

Forget AP and all your worries. Simply load the HE, aim roughly in the target's general direction and fire away! Your enemies will burn, no matter the class or tier! Your prime position is camping at the map border - safely out of range of those nasty HE cruisers! Even if by some misfortune you do happen to misuse your incredible concealment and suffer damage, WG have packed numerous new boats inside each RN BB, simply use the heal consumable and bang! Good as new!

For best results, remember to train your captain with Expert Rear Gunner and Survivability Expert. Happy HE spamming!

Seriously though, German battleships are not renowned for accurate guns. They have great survivability and amazing secondary armaments that can really hurt enemy ships if you spec your ship/captain properly. You need to get in pretty close and brawl - make use of that turtleback armor protecting your citadel. When you get to the Kurfurst, I guess with an armament of 12 main guns it turns into more of a quantity over quality situation. Brawling in battleships is great fun and the Bismarck is one of the few ships I'm going to keep from T8.

This with added secondaries for pew-pew fun times.

I recently picked up my König grind after dropping it twice before and I hated the ship with a passion, the only way I could play it was by telling myself repeatedly that I have to get through it to reach the Bismarck if I want to save all my free xp for the Kronshtadt. I still hated it but looking back, I hated it in part because it would stay in the fight for so long, forcing me to take more pot-shots with those next-to-useless shotguns.

Same thing was happening with the Bayern but then I got lucky and a cyclone blew in coupled (finally) with a team that were willing to support.

63IeBBr.jpg

I'm not setting any records with that battle but I'm also not getting many flags for those medals because I've been farming Fireproof and Dreadnought achievements in nearly every battle and that particular one was as bottom tier.

The biggest problem is when visibility is good I'm getting spammed by light cruisers hiding behind islands and if the team aren't willing or able to apply some pressure, it makes for a slow and frustrating battle. Even then, it's my fault for not having the patience to wait them out but doing something silly and get wrecked instead.

In short, not all ships play the same even if they're the same type. If they did, the game would be horribly dull.

What if I told you that without RNG you would have been sunk yourself a thousand times more than you did. Because be careful what you wish for. The thing you want also applies to your enemies. They will be able to reliably hit your citadel with their full salvo. Meaning a devastating strike on each salvo if they're "skilled" enough. Now is that fun?

I don't think you understand why RNG is in the game and why it is necessary. Yes. It can be frustrating at times especially when playing ships like bbs that have a slow reload. But just for a second think about what would happen if you take away RNG.

And talking about skill: skill in this game is not only about knowing how to shoot. It's mostly about positioning, knowing when go shoot and when to hold fire. It's about knowing the game mechanics and the differences between ships. It's about recognising situations even long before they happen. It's about reading the battle and planning your actions in advance. THAT takes skill. Aiming I can learn my 5 year old nephew in a few hours. Everybody would be a unicum if that was what determined if you're skilled or not.

Don't worry...the Radom miss accumulator will soon kick in :cap_cool:

BB's have been responsible for making this game a total mess IMO its no surprise that the aspects around the shell and firing patterns/dipersion are also a total random fracking mess as well.......:Smile_izmena:

Apart from the Queen Elizabeth, do not fire HE in her, she has the same guns as ze Germans at that tier but with better accuracy, she is the odd one out of the line. Orion and Iron Duke, definitely HE spam, KGV and beyond, HE spam, Queen Liz...AP.

She's an odd girl like that but I love her.
