Hello captains.

I'm playing the german BB line and was wondering how to spec the captains.

I have searched for builds, but most of them are more than a year old and I have no idea if they are any good in 2018.
Further more nobody seems to agree on what to chose.

The following seem popular, but several others are included in the builds.

  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Expert Marksman
  • Basic Firing Training
  • Superintendent
  • Advanced Firing Training
  • Adrenaline Rush
  • Manual Fire Control for AA Armament.

Right now I'm on a Kaiser. What to chose?

Nothing changed.

Low tier:

PT or PM for 1 pt

EM for 2 pt

SI for 3 pt

CE for 4 pt

If you want to go for secondary build, you can train a new captain from Gneisenau onwards with:

PT or PM for 1 pt

AR for 2 pt

BFT, SI or BoS for 3 pt

AFT for 4 pt

Manual Secondaries for another 4 pt

Then another 3 pt skill from the listed ones or FP.

Last 1-2 pt into the other 1 pt perk and/or dual spotter.

Or you continue the normal tank concealment build from low tier, with 4 pt FP, 3 pt BoS and then AR.

Survivability build = playing to the strengths of your armour

Secondary build = generally lots of fun

Choose which one of those 2 you want

And can you give the builds?

What builds are good for the ships?

Nassau
Kaiser
König
Bayern
Gneisenau
Bismarck
Friedrich der Große
Großer Kurfürst

I guess the builds are not exactly the same for Nassau and the Großer Kurfürst.

Priority Target, Expert Marksman, Superintendent, Concealment expert, Fire prevention, Adrenaline Rush - 3 points to spare from a 19 point captain (vigilance, JoaT, High Alert, it's up to you).

That's the basic survivability build and is useful all the way from Nassau up to GK, (course you aren't going to have a 16 point captain on a Nassau.......hopefully)

What builds are good for the ships?

Spoiler
Nassau
Kaiser
König
Bayern
Gneisenau
Bismarck
Friedrich der Große
Großer Kurfürst

Tbh I actually would run the same on both.

I have survivability build on my IJN, RN and MN BBs, so for KM ones I went with the fun secondary build

My order is:

Spoiler

1 - PT / PM - which ever you prefer

3 - EM - bcuz turret traverse never hurts. Altho AR and JoAT are decent picks aswell

6 - BFT - secondaries! part 1. Shoot faster damnit! SI is good for the extra heal, but we're not going for what's smart, we're going for fun

10 - AFT - secondaries! part 2. Bcuz range is nice

14 - Manual Secondaries - secondaries! part 3. Lets get them accurate!

Then you are left with 5 points. I'd split it into either 4+1 or 3+2

18 - Concealment / Fire Prevention (helps to survive) or on GK - IFHE (lets pen BBs!) <- which ever of those 3 you personally would prefer to have.

19 - PT / PM - which ever of these 2 you didn't take at 1st point

or

17 - DE (burn them!) / Vigilance (lets not get torped! - altho you already have hydro so this is kind of less useful) / BoS (shorter fires on you = gud)

19 - EM / AR / JoAT - which ever you didn't pick at 3 points and still want to have

Keep in mid that it's fun not smart. But fun is good. Everyone needs some fun

For survivability build, if you want to play "smart":

Spoiler

1 - PT / PM - which ever you prefer

3 - EM - bcuz turret traverse never hurts

6 - SI - more consumables = more heals

10 - Concealment - can't see you = can't shoot you. Also being closer = better accuracy

14 - Fire Prevention - middle 2 sections are usually the ones set on fire. This combines them into 1. You'll still burn all the time, but this way you extned your life by quite a lot

17 - BoS - Shorter fires = gud. Take Vigilance if you really want to

19 - JoAT - lower cooldowns is generally great. Alternatively you can take this one opportunity to boost your offense with AR

I see many Bismarck / Tirpitz players rushing to caps at start to use their secondaries (I hope that's the reason at least)... They get blown to pieces in a matter of seconds.

Don't be one of them. Play wise, eventually you'll get the chance.

You can move to a cap to support cruisers and DDs that try to cap it?

Moving close to a cap and support DDs is a different thing. Blasting through a cap directly and being a target to like 10 enemy ships, is another.

I'm talking about the latter.

Typically, I see Bismarcks and Tirpitzes hanging too far back, which makes me wonder why they spent 45 Euro for this? Too much money much?

Bismarck really does best if it can get a concerted push going and can stay at around 10-11 km, so secondaries can open up, while you don't immediately get torped and you push the enemy before you until you have cap control and can wait for the enemy to try push into you.

Yes. And I think the best way to achieve this is to be top tier in the match. Then things are really great if you have support and just push and dakka dakka.

With team mates that aren't camping the rear and follow the valiant and brave call of the Bismarck, it also works in T10.
