As @whiskey_sk remarked, August is closing in - so let's feed the historical calendar:cap_rambo:

I will start seeding some events in already, but the more the merrier!

EDIT: So far got the Savo Island, sinking of PT-109, pursuit of Goeben and Breslau and Battle of Vella Gulf there... Oh and Battle of the Gulf of Riga :)

The Final event of Harder's carreer, mainly encompassing the not well-known battle of Dasol Bay.

21 August 1944, Harder, Ray, Guitarro & Raton sink 4 marus.
22 August, Harder sinks or help in sinking Matsuwa and Hiburi

23 August, Haddo damages Asakaze.

24 August, before dawn, Harder and Hake pursue the direction in which Asakaze fled, unaware she was already doomed. They reach the Dasol bay and encounter two ships under japanese control, which turned out to be a Kaibokan, CD-22, and Patrol Boat 102, the captured USS Stewart of the Clemson class.

In the following Battle of Dasol Bay, Hake and Harder quickly lose contact, and the only thing heard from Harder was a serie of detonation at 7:30 am. Hake vigorously searched the area afterwards but Harder was never found.

(for the funny note, Stewart would survive the war and be reclaimed and symbolically recommissioned in the USN after japanese surrender).

Tuccy, it's the anniversary of Edson's Ridge today.

First pic is the view of the ridge with the memorial to Edson's Raiders from a plane landing at Henderson field, the second one is a view along the ridge next to the memorial, the last pic is the ridge (with the memorial visible slightly left of the centre) view from the WW2 control tower at Henderson.
