Commander retraining bug?

I have to ask here about this issue because I never saw it before.

I wanted to put my 19 level captain from Alsace to Republique, which cost 125k commander elite EXP whitch doesnt bother me, but the strange part is when I was moving back that same commander from Republique to Alsace, and then I had to retrain it all over again.

Why is that so? Do I have to spend every time 125k elite commander EXP + 200k credits whenever I want to swtich that captain between two ships? This is nuts.

you've played 3,300 battles and only just realised you have to pay each time you move a captain to a new ship?

as neither ship is a premium then yes you have to pay each time...

Yes, This is how it works. A retrained commander loses any previous specialisation.

Captains can only be trained for one regular ship. (And used on all premium ships of the same nation without retraining).

You will need a new captain for Alsace if you want to play with both ships.

Dude, in World of tanks I played up to 8000 battles until I realized that premium tanks doesn't needs to retrain it's crew. That kind of ship sometimes happens.
For a very long time I thought in WOWS premium captains only could be used with ships of the same class than the captain´s training.

Well, that sucks.

I dont have any other high skilled captain, so Republique will collect dust in the port....

This shouldnt be this way.

How then so many players have regular ships without commanders and play them when they put commanders on? They retrain them and spend so many elite commander EXP every time for every ship in port? Crazy.

@Sargento_YO  I know for premium ships, but this is other question..

They probably use the captain on one regular ship and at least one premium ship together. If the captain is on the premium ship, he keeps his training for the regular ship and can be put back on it without retraining.

can only speak for myself, but no I dont move commanders back and forth all the time. If I want to keep a ship, it gets a decent captain - either keeps the one it had, or I throw those 125k elite XP (or thereabouts) at it to make a new 10-14pt captain that is servicable for the ship (exact amount obviously depends on the ship in question, usually just grab CE unless it's a ship that needs IFHE as well...)

If someone have over 50 regular ships without captains, that player would need over 50 premium ships also.

For premium ship free of charge, I know that. Im using Carolina captain on Missouri. But its weird we have to spend so many commander EXP for every time you wanna replace captain between 2 ships.

I tought 19 levels commanders had some bonus like that before.

Yea, I guess I could use some other new commander and level it up to 14 for secondary build and put on Republique. How much is that elite commander EXP for 1-14?

Anyway, im already on the lose for 125k commander EXP because atm I cant use it on none ship...

14 points are 579000 EliteXP.

That is a lot.

Well, I guess ill have to spend either 125k commander EXP to make my Alsace back on track, or to spend 2€ to buy 500 doubloons for faster retraining. Either way, this mistake cost me.

Was checking in game now to see the elite commander EXP status, and its not much. Barely 500k, but im saving 190k for Halsey commander to get him on level 16.

Heh. I have ten 19 point commanders myself. Whenever i get a newship i simply move new commander to it and use free exp to make 10 point commander for it. 10 points usually gets job done for me. Of course only exception are germans because good builds start at 18 points.

WG has been very helpful in this regard and will allow you to spend doubloons for retraining; and if you don't have enough you can use real money and buy some!!!

Seems you had plenty of time to make so many max level captains.

I have only 2, and another 2 captains on 17ish levels.

I was answering to Salentine about how was possible you didn't knew the stuff about captain retraining after so many battles. That kind of things happens.

Play more, get more highlevel captains? Or elite commander XP.

Everyone has to go through the same procedure. Obviously ppl with 10k battles will have plenty of 19 ptn cptns.

A tiny exception are those 10 pt cptns u get for buying premium ships, but thats like what, 1/10 of the way to 19?

I think its good that u cant just buy yourself 19pt cptns.

I have a 19 point russian captain I use across 5 ships, but 4 of them are premiums.

Well, it scales quickly.

A "basic" 10-point commander (1 perk per tier) is just 183 000

A 14-point one is 579 000

For 16 points you'd pay almost a million (927 000)

But a fully trained 19-point one? THAT would cost you a whopping 1 708 000...

Depending on ship, though, 10 points tend to be enough for basic build. And up to there it's not that expensive.

It depends what tier ships you want to keep and how elaborate your builds are, but most ships are fine with just a 10-point captain. I have lots of these on silver ships I kept because I like them. Quite a few of these are mission reward captains that were already 10-point so I didn't have to train them.

I guess though, I haven't kept too many silver T9s once I've moved to the T10s so this may be harder for you. It is annoying but it's just how it is.

The other thing you can do is buy a French premium BB. Every time you want to swap your captain, you start the retraining then play the captain in the premium ship (no penalties) to finish retraining.

If you really want captains on both ships, you just need to train a new one.

Aye, there has been some inflation there since the tables were revised in Version 6.

In version 5 you "only" needed

For a 10 point commander  - 102900 XP

For a 14 point commander  - 467900 XP

For a 16 point commander  - 877900 XP

But a 19 point commander needed 11540899

10 point is enough for most basic build, true. However I don't feel comfortable with (non-German, non-British) light cruisers unless they have at least 14 points - so they can have both Concealment and IFHE as level 4 skills.

Just out of curiosity, why dont you play Republique? Im grinding Alsace right now and im under the impression that Rep is so much better ship?

I have since the start pretty much grinded captains that has 2 ships each, 1 silver and 1 premium so it looks like this.

1 Cap for my Shima - Kamikaze R

1 Cap for my Kurfurst - Tirpitz - Sharnhorst

1 Cap for Asashio - Yugomo

1 Cap for Zao - Atago

1 Cap for Lo Yang - Youyang etc etc.

My only issue right now is that i have my Yamamoto on my Akizuki (because thats OP A-F) but i still need a highpoint Cap to stick on the new T9 and 10 when they get released (because i will need both CE and IFHE to get them to work), so i think i need to start grinding.
