Just tried the New Narai on pts. It seems very very hard to win without resorting to clan division. Reminds me of first-iteration new-port naval station.

3 attempts with 150k-300k dmg and 8-10 kills yet all losses with everybody dead.

Transports and CV must be killed and have been moved to opposite corners of the map with the harbour in the 3rd corner where escort must be protected from charging into the missouri.

This can be dealt with, but with lossses in the central group. The reinforcements in the harbor just wrecks the 2-3 remaining ships.

Has anyone tried it?

Seems hard for the average joe to just complete, let alone get multiple stars.

UF bad [edited]mode, all over again?

why WG?:Smile_facepalm:

With your fear that the few can milk that operation to kingdom come you are in risk to turn that op inaccessible to the many.

random teams + stock ships + unskilled captains + average Joes/below average are not a match for yours t1000's.

In case of Narai it involves sending one player southwest and one northeast to intercept transport boats and CV respectively, job perfectly fine for (non IJN) DD. That kind of advanced tictacs might be beyond comprehension of your standard issue Mk1 potato though.

I'd expect the mode is still perfectly farmable by clans of decent players using voice coms.

With the amount of ships to kill, probably also quite profitable. I fail to see how WG will (ever) solve this quandary without reducing the ship-count or XP gains.

The problem now is the operation is extremely demanding of certain ship types deployed  in the right positions.

You NEED a DD or CV for spotting. You NEED an AA capable ship to deal with CV. You NEED a DD/torp boat willing to one-shot the Missouri.

More than anything, players need to a) follow specific tactics b) while staying in front of the repair circle and protecting the transports and c) actually know to use AP and hit what they shoot at

Just saying, there is NO WAY random scrubs will even manage to win more than 1/3 of the games, let alone earn any stars.

CV is escorted by a cruiser. Might be hard on the DD.

On the other side I doubt a DD has the dpm to burn down the 5-6 transports + 2 forts and 2 DDs opposing it, but I could be wrong. It certainly took my Fiji quite a while.

I don't know what to say.

Once I recovered from the shock of seeing a Missouri taking 30k of my cruiiser's health in one volley, I've had a couple of good games with Helena (only tier 7 I developed in this iteration of PTS), but never better than 4-stars. There's always one friendly transport that gets sunk when entering the port. The 5th star seems to be hard to get, but also in PTS the teams...

Shouldn't be that surprised really. A Helena has nowhere near enough armor to withstand firepower of that magnitude. And bots landing heavy hitting salvos on target isn't exactly anything new around here.

The shock was finding out a [edited]tier 9 that early in the operation, when everything else had been Tiers 4s, 5s and 6s so far. Of course I became much more cautious after that first (disastrous) game.

Fair enough, my mistake. :D

I haven't had luxury of chasing CV yet, but Helena can oneshot transports if you spread salvo on entire length of the ship. Ayygle and Nicholas can slow down pursuit with sudden torpedobeats tho

Hi all,

It is EXTREMELY hard with random teams... :Smile-angry:

You can have 200+K damage, sink 10 ships and kill 35 planes (all with "Nagato" - fully specced for AA and secondaries) but you still lose the battle... :Smile_sad:

Herein lies the problem.

If you balance it around the average player, then any half decent division can farm it easily.

If you balance it around divisions then it's nigh on impossible for the average player.

At the moment it seems to be set too hard for the average player, but too easy for a division - worst of both worlds.

Maybe either exclude divisions or adjust difficulty depending upon whether they are present or not.

I was reading what klopirat posted (post nº2)

and I'm not convinced with what is about to come.

Right.

Now you need this, and that and whatnot.

Before you could just relax, drink a beer, smoke a cigarette while sinking ships, practice, test ships and having fun.

I already said what I had to say about UF hard mode and alike. (at that time).

I played a lot of UF hard mode and I did it all, awful, reasonable, good. I did my part then, I helped give them the numbers that they requested.

Spoiler

I did good like this one...

CRAP6.thumb.png.78e3b09d9004376ea877ba594853d805.png

Only to see my all team wiped out after the Pensa. and me and one remaining BB didn't got far either, not even to the repair zone , my ship wasn't even random worthy yet. Let alone against t1000's

Spoiler

I only got 1x5 stars and was too much trouble, very stressful thing to accomplished, I didn't enjoy it, not worth to repeat.

crap3.thumb.png.d41d4154b059f11850886a2e307539b7.png

things like this are still fresh in my memory, as things to avoid, and a far cry from what Operation used to be and from what used to offer.

This ship, as we speak, it's not random worthy either

So, as far I'm concerned, it will be very simple.

1) I will see what will come out of that

2) if it's anything like UF hard mode I'll just keep my distance from it.

3) I will not bother with that anymore.
