Hi all, once ifhe has been selected by your 10 pt Captain. is it reflected when you go to armour/shell details.  mine still shows hche,  or whatever the basic HE shell is. Many thanks in advance

It helps if you write more clearly.

I guess you are writing about the designation of the shells, that does not change.

There is no information about HE penetration in port, you can look it up in the Wiki here:

Quote

Unlike AP shells, the penetration of HE shells does not depend on the impact angle or velocity---rather, each HE shell has a fixed penetration value which is compared to the raw thickness of the armor. This is computed using the following steps:

1. Start with the shell diameter in mm.

2. Multiply by a factor:

  • 1/4 for British battleships, German battleships, and German cruisers.
  • 1/6 for all other shells.

3. Round to the nearest integer, with X.5 usually rounding down (contrary to common convention), though even this is not consistent. This is the shatter threshold, the minimum armor thickness in mm needed to shatter the shell.

4. If the commander has the Inertia Fuse for HE Shells skill, multiply the shatter threshold by 1.3. Do not round again.

So when you know how much penetration your shells have you can check with the armor viewer in-game which parts of a ship will be penetrated.

Rule of thumb: 150 - 180 mm --> IFHE helps. 203 mm --> IFHE only reduces your fire chance for the cost of 4 captain points. Some ships need IFHE badly, for example Akizuki (this might be obsolete in a couple of updates), high-tier US CL i.e. Cleveland, Seattle, Worcester.

You will not get any "tooltip" type of information.

But you will notice the change in game for sure.

Your fire chance will be updated in port (since noone above mentioned that).
