Aldramelech Beta Tester 1,753 posts Report post #1 Posted April 9, 2015 First off I'd like to say that I'm quite happy with today's patch overall, I think being able to buy premium kit and get given it twice (once for CBT testing and then again after the wipe) is a good idea, WG make a bit of cash, I get to test stuff and when the game goes live I can start again and make different choices on how to spend those tokens. I'm going to dip in and out of this thread, I'm going to play some stuff and then come back with some observations while it's fresh in my head. First off the Albany. It's not too slow but ain't that fast and that's OK, the guns fire fairly quickly and that's OK but the kicker is the range. I know that premium ships need to have some kind of flaw but a range of 6K? Not good at all. Just about everything in T2 and absolutely everything in T3 can easily out range you. Now my problem with this is that this is a T2 premium ship, so entry level, lots and lots of new players who need to learn to play the game are going to buy this ship and what are they going to learn? To rush in at top speed in a desperate attempt to get those 4 guns shooting and get themselves killed is what they are going to learn. Some will quickly figure out that your going to have to skulk about abit and ambush the unwary but most won't. The 6K range on those guns is too much of a flaw and a better idea would be to give em an extra K of range and increase the reload time, maybe make it slightly less manoeuvrable as well maybe? The Simms. What a fantastic little ship! Nice and fast with good manoeuvrability, fast firing guns (good range of 12K on those) in relatively fast turning turrets and fast torps (62 knots) BUT only a 5.5K range on those and I guess that's its flaw. Still at T7 a player should be used to short American Torp ranges and be used to playing accordingly. Seems to be a good credit maker too. Aurora. Played the St. Louis? Course you have, played the St. Louis then basically you've played the Aurora. Fun T3 ship that can just pour on the pain at mid/close ranges, low tiered DD's beware.Yubari. Odd one this. 6K range on the torps sucks, unusual for an IJN. Plays more like a big DD then a cruiser, guns are inaccurate and lack punch, turret speed is not bad but not good either, not really seen the AA at work yet but I'll report back on that. Speed and manoeuvrability are excellent and despite the above seems a fun ship to drive.
deathrow222 Beta Tester 177 posts 4,408 battles Report post #2 Posted April 9, 2015 i played with the Yubari and i love it, the guns are accurate enough fast reload 5,6 sec, good torpedoes for ambushing BB´s and it makes good creds
Aldramelech Beta Tester 1,753 posts Report post #3 Posted April 9, 2015 I need to play it a few more times to get a feel for it I guess, but I just also got a Cleveland so you can imagine what's getting played lots atm
Ramjali123 Beta Tester 3 posts 750 battles Report post #4 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) Currently away from my gaming computer so, every little detail on the premium helps. I want to get some during the 15% discount but I cannot test them out myself Are the premium ships under tier 8 worth it? Becuase the norm is the tier 8s give the biggest credit in WoT. Also any MUST buy premiums? like type 59 during start of WoT Edited April 9, 2015 by Ramjali123
Aldramelech Beta Tester 1,753 posts Report post #5 Posted April 9, 2015 Impossible to say really, these ships will not be available again for a year apparently, so if you don't buy now you might not see some of them ever again or they might be common things in the tech trees in a year, who can tell? The American DD, The Simms is worth it, fun capable ship. The IJN Yubari seems like it could be fun, I need a few more games and the Russian the same. To give an idea of credit earning potential:
[NIKE] Xevious_Red Beta Tester 3,412 posts 7,888 battles Report post #6 Posted April 9, 2015 Got myself the Gremy, and used the 3k gold to get a mumansk. Gremy: Plays like an odd halfway house between US and IJN destroyers. Depending on how you look at it, its either worse than both, or better than both. You get less torps than the US, the guns turn slower and lower RoF so you'll lose a fight with a US destroyer. Conversely you have shorter range torps than the IJN, get detected sooner, dont turn as sharply, and the torps are slower. However! You can still fire torps while undetected, your guns actually work, you can shoot at a decent range, and can at extreme range fire the guns undetected (havent got 6th sense yet, just based on not being shot at while firing). If you like one style of DD while disliking the other then this isnt for you. If you like aspects of one and wish you had aspects from the other then give it a spin. Mumansk: This is essentially an omaha, with some differences, which again youll either prefer, or think it makes it worse. I'll start with the cons: Less guns Worse dispersion Weaker gun casement Slower (by 1kmph) torps 2x3 torps instead of 4x2 so less torps, less flexible (one either side) AA is shorter range, mostly 2.5 not 3.5 Pros: Range is 14.5 km Torps are 8km Harder to spot Rudder turns 5.0 secs not 9.8 Tighter turn More AA So you get less shots, and they miss more, while providing less AA support for team mates, and your guns break more. However, you can shoot further than your spotted, the AA is nice for protecting you, and you turn on a dime. This really annoys TB and DD which you can dodge their torps with impunity, and you can engage battleships at range while easily dodging any return fire. The torps actually are used at a range you're more likely to be at without needing to be on a suicide run All told I like both the gremy and the mumansk
[NIKE] Xevious_Red Beta Tester 3,412 posts 7,888 battles Report post #7 Posted April 9, 2015 Totally forgot the best part of both russian ships: they have sexy red decks. I swear i spent more time looking at my own deck and going ohhhh shiney (while annoying deathsarmour by making him look at my red deck by circling his kongo several times)
Ramjali123 Beta Tester 3 posts 750 battles Report post #8 Posted April 9, 2015 So except from the in-game shop premiums, the pre-order ships are the only ones unavailable for a year? Ie the in-game premiums are not going to disapear anytime soon?
Mitchverr Beta Tester 95 posts 181 battles Report post #9 Posted April 10, 2015 I wanted to buy the atlanta, 9k "gold", what do i have to buy in the shop, buy extra gold i dont want for the ship? Would rather be able to buy the ship like the tanks in the tanks side of things (but the price is way to high, for a "tank" version of the ship you would pay what, £20 for it?(tier 7 light medium is what i would equaite to) but £29 if i want the Atlanta. Im happy to see the patch, but just sad i cant afford to fork out more money then charged for WoT (which to be frank charges a fair bit anyway). Oh well, hope that theres a sale or that the ingame ships go on the shop for cheaper or something.

Boomer7 Beta Tester 153 posts 15,535 battles Report post #11 Posted April 10, 2015 Well the new ships are on sale currently. Dont forget you also get 3000 Gold with them, which in it self has a value of more then 10€. So technically the Yubari now costs around 7€ and the Sims 15€ Which is in line with tank prices if you look at the WOT store, Tier VII are currently 27% off and cost between 16-19€ The only Tier IV in the WOT store is currently with a 35% sale at 3,5€, but I would say a Tier IV cruiser in WOWS is more useable then a Tier IV permium tank in WOT. Of course still quite some money for just a few lines of code you are "renting", but that a topic that has been beaten to death already I guess. For me the 3k gold were more useful then any of the ships as I finally could extend my portslots and try other ships.
