ziggydog Weekend Tester 12 posts Report post #38 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) Well I purchased both the Sims and the Gremyashchy, so here are my thoughts. Hands down the Gremyashcy at tier 5 is the better DD, torp range at 8k is ok but its stand out feature, IMHO,ae her guns. 12k @ 12 RPM, which when fighting other DDs is fantastic. The 5k range of the Sims torps makes it a little difficult to get into a good firing position without getting hammered unless you hide amongst the heavies and then come out, but once again her guns have a 12k range with a fire rate of 13 RPM. So far I'm having more success with the Russian DD than the Sims, but I've only had a few battles with each. If your looking for only 1 purchase my recommendation so far is the Gremyashchy. H_E_R_T_Z Beta Tester 185 posts 647 battles Report post #40 Posted April 9, 2015 @ azakow I Got the sims. those symbols are not modules... What I do not understand is the following line : "Current testers who purchase a bundle will effectively receive the contents twice – once for testing purposes during the CBT and once again during Open Beta when CBT progress is wiped. This means that CBT testers will be able to use the Premium Currency and Premium Account time of their purchased bundle during the CBT to help their progress, as well as help us balance the economy of the game." Does that mean that between OBT and launch there will be no wipe?!
[CNEX] ot0_m0t0 [CNEX] Beta Tester 16 posts 1,014 battles Report post #41 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) STATS for Gremyashchy? YOu gave the basic ones and it seems good.... but you know... money is tight and we want the best bang for our bucks Tnx man. For any one interested, some of the stats highlight for the Gremyashchy:Speed and maneuverability:38 knots630m turn radius3.5s rudder shift timeIt's pretty much on par with the USN NicholasMain gun:4x130mm12 rpm36 second turret turn time1120 max HE2810 max AP11.9mk rangeApart from the slow turret traverse (which remains manageable), it's as good if not better than the Minekaze and Nicholas, having more range than the later in exhange for what appears to be faster shells but 3 shells per minute less. I had no problem killing 2 tier5 DDs ambushing me. Main guns are good.AA:2 x 12.7mm DSHK machine guns with 2 dps at 0.9km2x 12.7mm Colt machine guns with 4 dps at 0.9km2 x 76mm with 2 dps at 2km4 x 37mm with 32 dps at 2kmAA is very very bad, although to be fair, with the 37s, it has decent dps compared to the Nicholas and the Minekaze, although it pays it by having 0.5-1 km less range than their main source of AA (28mm US and 25mm IJN autocannons). Overall, bad AA, but on par, if not better in specific conditions than the two others.Torpedoes:2 x triple 533mm torpedoes14400 damage8km range57 knots0.9rpmDefinitely worse than the Minekaze, in all respects, but better than the Nicholas in all ways except for speed. Soviet torpedoes appear to be 10-13 knots slower than USN and IJN counterparts.Still workable, but you have to get in closer to make sure the target doesn't dodge. Stealth:Surface detectability : 6.7kmAir detectability 3.1kmExactly the same as the Nicholas, and about 0.8km worse than the Minekaze. Survivability:12000 hp6-13mmExactly the same as the Nicholas. Pros: Fast, high hp, good gun, decent torps, better AA than its competitorsCons: Slow turning main guns, awful AA range, no DP armament slow torpedoes.Overall, a solid ship. What it lacks in torpedo speed, it more than makes up for with the 130mm guns. A bit of planning ahead will allow you to point your guns in the right direction.A fun fact is that you don't even need to bother turning off AA. The range is so low, that the plane will detect you before you open fire. So it's a disadvantage with a silver lining. [OILUP] Tsukotaku Alpha Tester 617 posts 908 battles Report post #42 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) More than 29.99€ of tokens for the Kitakami sounds like a rip of money to me. I've only got the premium membership for 9.95€, which is the only correctly priced thing in there IMO. They shouldn't charge more than 14€ for a ship. [SIC] Generic_Guy13 Beta Tester 37 posts 1,743 battles Report post #43 Posted April 9, 2015 I am really enjoying the Sims, it is essentially a Benson with worse torps. If you can get back to being used to Farragut or Mahan lvl Torps then you are golden. The 39 kt top speed and 3.5 rudder shift is pretty tasty Already had success terrorising the higher tiers I think if there is a class of ship you really enjoy, it will be worth getting one of these ships - if nothing but to make some quick credits at launch ;)
