Ok all

 

I'm seeing a lot of comments in many threads complaining about the amount of radar in game so I had a look at the numbers for the last week.

 

The statements we see of there being constantly 4+ radar per team is a misconception and just false

Tier 7-10 ships brought to game

Radar Capable ships made up 23.8% of ships brought to battle so that's an Average of under 3 or 2.8

 

 

Tier 8-10 ships brought to game

Radar Capable ships made up 28.8% of ships brought to battle so that's an Average of 3.4 ships per battle. 

 

BUT and this is a big but.. Very few people bring radar on Pan Asian DDs or Royal Navy Cruisers as the smoke is much much more useful

so the average excluding these ships

 

Tier 7-10 ships brought to game

Radar Capable ships made up 18.8% of ships brought to battle so that's an Average of just over 2 or 2.22

 

 

Tier 8-10 ships brought to game

Radar Capable ships made up 22.5% of ships brought to battle so that's an Average of 2.7 ships per battle. 

 

So the average is somewhere in between and I would be pretty certain its closer to the lower number.

Also take in to account many of the tier 7-8 ships get in to games with tier 6 ships that will lower these averages some what.

There are 77 ships at tier 8-10 if we look at the top half of average XP earners by ship(35ships) there are 12 DD or just over 30% . DDs make up just over 30% of the ship types at tier 8-10. so its about what you would expect.

IS radar and issue to DD players yes.. Douse it make DD play impossible hell no. Its a challenge and its made DD play more difficult. By all means lets discuses but please lets not exaggerate the numbers of radar in game by so much.

Ditto! Yesterday the enemy had 13 radars against our 1 and I was a lone DD in a Wakatake... WAH! :Smile_hiding:

Statistics...lie... motherlie.Statistics dont tell everything.There are games with 1-2 radars but also games with 3-6 radars...yes there was a game with 6 radars yesterday and just played some games with 4 radars.How do you think Akizuki with one louncher and 33 knots and maneuverability like brick survive those batles...ok you can camp without doing any damage...

My Akizuki survived fine yesterday....

 

Yes, there is a big variation in number of radar ships, but that is not new.

Last game there was 4 radars in Standard game. I just waited in our base killing 2 DDs ,batleship and cruiser coming to base and started to kill batleship when time expired and we loose by points.I was last left in our team and enemy had that bb and cruiser somewhere.That bb was low hp because I already hit it with 2 torps.I was inside the smoke and torps ready 5 km from bb....but that time...So it is possible to play in standard but needs different playstyle and good luck...non of ships coming to our base had radar.

stats don't lie they tell you the Average..

 

I was addressing the comments saying that there are constantly 4+ radar per team. For this to be the case that average would have to be close to or above 33%

Yes of cause there are games with 4+ radar ships per team but these are balanced by games with 1 or 2... But comments like yours of from the "DD play in future" where you say there are 4 to 6 Radar every game(we both know you meant per team) is just false

Pretty sure that was more or less entirely due to patch week with the inclusion of the new tier VIII Cleveland and the coinciding Halsey campaign also requiring to play cruisers. The first couple of days after the patch there undoubtedly were tons of people playing their new Clevelands, plus with missions like kill two destroyers with a cruiser or CV (with a good portion of players not having tier VIII+ CVs to begin with I assume) that's another motivation to play radar cruisers. Far from every game of course, but consistently often enough to be an easily noticable trend.

 

It died down pretty quickly though (a handful of days at most as far as I could tell), so I'm not surprised at all that your more recent collected numbers don't show it.

Not denying there has been a defiant spike.. Just addressing the comments that were saying there are constantly 4-6 radar per team.  Even with all this radar I'm still hitting top of team and winning more games in my DDs than I do in CA or BB.

IS DD play harder know.. OF cause. But Nurfs to DDs or buffs to other classes that effect DDs adversely is the DD players Lot in life.

 

Has my DD rates taken a hit over the last 3 weeks yes a little. But has DD play become imposable Defiantly not. you can still cap you can still play aggressive.  The main issue is you have to have an escape plan. No longer can a DD rely on just Smoke or 20 seconds and stealth up to escape.. DD player needs to think a little more. you have to be aware of where the radar ships are.

Which I agree, for a good DD player like yourself.

 

But all the average DD players are getting slotted within the first minute. If your WR has taken a hit with all your knowledge then the average play will be rage quitting. All ready seen it yesterday with A YY getting hit then refusing to play by sailing to the A1 square and flaming thought out  the whole match.  Muppet, reported by everyone.

 

As a non DD player i'm really not fused but it's becoming harder and harder for DD's to operate. I do have a heart for them you know. Lets have a look:

 

Tier 9 - 10

1st game - 3 radars

2nd game - 4 radars

3rd game - 5 radars

4th game - 5 radars

5th game - 4 radars

 

Last 5 games i had.  I've seen 6 in the last week.

 

Then include the surge in Moskva players (buff), Des and buffalo for the missions and the introduction of the US CL.

 

DD's and CV are going to have it alot harder than it already is.

 

BB's are the real winners here.  Already told my clan that i'm not sending my high tiers CV out without a AA escort.

I think the amount of Cleveland's will stay tho, decent all round ship.  Another AA ship to slap into high tier games.  But your right, it might die down (hopefully) but it will get worse because of the above before it gets better. Both AA and radar.

Does anyone else remember the days without all these gimmicks?

 

I half expect to see jet engine planes chasing down my Zeros or a tomahawk missile to go straight through the captains cabin aboard the Alabama in half a year :Smile_teethhappy:

They removed Jets from game.....

 

I kid you not tier X CV used to have Jet aircraft

Missiles come if DDs can still be efective after all those radars and nerfs...but I think only for bbs.

In general with your numbers, but picking one case in particular as an example... If 28.8% of ships have radar, how is it 2.7 average in a 12v12 match of 24 ships? I think you copied the wrong number here, but in general neglected the 24 ships per battle, 12 per side. And 3 radars per team is different from 3 radars per battle.

well spotted Copy and past error form above listing ALL radar ships

28.8% is tier 8-10 all ships capable of radar

 

RN and Pan Asian make up 6.30% of ships that number should read 22.5%. Ive updated the post

My first game today is good example of power of radars.I went to near cap to spot...not even try to cap.I didnt see radar ship who was probably behind island mabe 7 km from me. Suddenly I was radarred and about 5 enemy shooting me...what to do with Akizuki in that situation...die...cant escape that 33 knts max speed.And that speed cant be buffed by historical reasons...but radars go through islands...even modern radars dont do that.
