Ran into @HMS_Kilinowski@MrWastee and @OVanBruce on Okinawa (Neustrashimy, Agir and Jutland respectively).

I was in my brand new Z-44 (yes I know, I know...) and initially I thought it'd be hopeless, but I must've been on the better team, since they just couldn't carry theirs.

I must say, an RPF-Jutland is exhausting to play against...  :Smile_sad:

I think you played the Z-44 quite nicely. This whole moving in, torping, moving out routine kept our team zoned out for a long time. A big deal was that Kearsarge that provided so much spotting for your DDs in smoke. The BBs tonight were speshul. They must still believe service cost depends on the HP of your ship.

Today I met @GuydeLusignan playing in the opposite team.
Early he tried to convince me to use my mighty AltF4 cheat to make fun of me, because he seemed to not believe in the power of that cheat.
Normally I try to avoid cheating, but I had to teach him a lesson. After cheating his team lost 11 ships while my team had lost zero ships, also he got sunk in shame. I tried to convince my teammates to not shoot at his ships, because he is a good guy, but the power of the cheat was to bombastic, everyone on my team turned into an OP player. He tried to camp in his battleship to survive a few minutes, but unfortunately with no luck. The last thing I read from him in the Chat was his question where his teammates were - but nobody answered because they already had been frustrated back in the harbour.

Lesson learned Guyde?

Ran into @Shaka_D and through a series of unfortunate events culminating in a number of brain farts (on my part) accused him of throwing a game without having the facts. In case he didn't get the PM apologising after the fact - here it is as a matter of public record.

Whoops - Sorry. I apologise unreservedly for mouthing off.

@MacArthur92 in arms race just now

My god your division mate ovanbruce in the midway was an irritating chat spammer. Is he always like that? Does he realise it just makes his team play worse not better?

No, he usually only tells the really bad players they are really bad. Nothing irritating about that, it's rather straightforward.

I mean, does he think this helps? It's just annoying and childish and makes people play even more terribletm

It usually helps, since most of the bad players are not aware they are bad in the first place. He is providing valuable feedback to people who fail to analyze their own decision making objectively. I personally can appreciate that. Ofc poor @OVanBruceis not responsible for how the people internalize this information. Don't hate the messenger. Btw, which battle are we talking about? I'd like to check the replay.

He may fondly imagine this is the case but the wall of map pinging, "concentrate fire on the XXX" 6 times in a row and "well dones" and so on does not actually provide any useful feedback to people who are not aware of why he's doing it. It just comes across as mocking of the less experienced/skilled which is irritating at best.

Sometimes (for example in this match) a terribletm player driving a FdG gets in an unintentional collision with a SHiki. Despite being in full reverse, for some reason the sodding ship won't go backwards at all so he ends up being tangled up for ages. Having clever clogs pipe up at that point is just plain annoying.

The match in question is the one where you said

"it's so frustrating to have to play with you people"

"i now know how your teachers must have felt"

The thing is you seem to want the team to work together but then just abuse them which is not really going to motivate anyone to do what you are trying (very ineffectively) to communicate for them to do.

If I could I would. But I can't so I shan't.

Now I vividly remember that game.

I think the criticism covered the following events:

- The BBs of 8-10-line deciding it was not needed to stay on their flank and put up any resistance to a pushing enemy slowly moving into a crossfire position.

- Me getting pinned down in my own smoke by the FDR, while being the only one to get buffs for our team, unable to back up from the flanking enemy into safety, losing my ship. I messed up, cause I did not expect the enemy to push into our side of the map at full speed.

- A Shikishima and you ramming into each other behind a huge island, stuggling to back up from each other and thus not in the position to cover the DD in front of you for a long time. This by itself was a minor misplay on the list. However when two BBs collide behind cover just in the phase where your DD likely is about to make contact with the enemy DD, trying to get the buff, that is very bad timing.
- The Marceau deciding the best action was to open-water yolo 3 enemy ships and getting blapped into oblivion.

This only covers the first 5 min. By that time the battle was essentially lost.

Honestly, if in that battle the one thing that annoyed you was a player using the F3-button, then you must have switched off the mini map. If a player presses F3, it means shoot the target. If he presses F3 several times, it is because nobody is shooting the target. The issue here is not him pressing F3, but nobody shooting the target.

Likewise if a player says "well done" in a supposedly ironic manner, it is to comment on a misplay. Again, the issue is not commenting on the misplay, but the misplay itself.

If you felt annoyed by the frequency of such expressions of opinion, the issue is not a player being overly impatient, but the sheer number of mistakes that is being made by the team collectively. Watching it made me want to rip the skin off my bones. I hope you still appreciate me not using profanities, it surely took a lot of self-restraint. I guess it didn't help that two Arms Races earlier our team got wiped out after I got every single buff on the map and the enemy team had none of them.

OVanBruce, as much as I hate CVs, is an excellent CV player, who, already in the way of his play style, puts himself in the second place behind the needs of his team. When you have him on your team, he provides excellent spotting, you will regularly have relevant targets to shoot at. In return he expects his team to then shoot these relevant targets and will repeatedly ping those targets to remind his team of its importance. Given the alternative, that he could just farm damage for himself, come top of the team and not care about his team mates' needs, I feel this is a low price to pay. OVanBruce has excellent map awareness. He will notice when a player is in trouble and often sacrifice personal damage gains to help other players' survival. This is way more than you can expect from the average CV player, who burdens his team with fighting off endless air attacks while he goes off on his personal damage farming mission. I can say with conviction that, even if you may not have enjoyed the experience, you were blessed having him on your team. That he struggles to accept the avoidable novice mistakes still being made in T10, may be a typical weakness of such a committed player. I argue again it is a minor price to pay for having such qualities on your team.

My request would be to first and foremost try to avoid the mistakes, that were made, in future battles, rather than fixating on the criticism. I can assure you he is not spamming F3, when the targets are actually shot. Also OVanBruce's use of the "well done"-quick command is directly proportional to the number of major mistakes being made. Not making the mistakes will in my experience solve the chat issue.

All fair points but remember most players can't tell if the chat spammer is making good points or is not. there are plenty of chat spammers who do not. FWIW i think the shiki was steering into me which didn't help.

The irritation factor will either just make people play worse or what I usually do is block the messages from that player entirely. Turn it down a bit and ideally give clear requests rather than confusing pings.

The mistake here is expecting other players will not be potatoes. Giving advice in any manner to potatoes will still just fly over the heads of the potatoes.

In other words, if your advice in chat goes unheeded, stop trying to give it, farm some damage and move on.

The spam in chat will only infuriate everybody and will make a number of players do the exact opposite just to spite you.

Oh - I wish that I'll meet him in the future. Having such an asset in the team is such a great force multiplier... Would be happy to experience some teamplay.
