Obviously thought 'hurrah a defeat' as our CV was not up his standards and having an altogether worse team on paper. Well we got a win due more to his team ballsing it up I reckon. I took a full torp broadside from him in my Conqueror at one stage but survived it. [GEUS] TeaAndTorps Players 820 posts 2,680 battles Report post #6877 Posted February 19, 2019 Earlier today I found myself in a team with @mlgomez in his New Mex and, although I only realised it on the results screen (sorry), @Armorin in his Ranger when I took my Dallas out for a spin, for a T5-6 standard battle on Ring. It ended up a relatively comfortable kill-all win, with Armorin, our other CV, and me still standing (two of our DDs only went down in the last couple of minutes before the end, to rockets of course). It did look dicey for a moment with 5 enemy ships closing in on our base and flanking the island I'd been hugging in the time-honoured fashion, but then they all somehow evaporated quite quickly, and I was able to have a pleasant discussion with mlgomez about the relative merits of the CV rework and the usefulness or not of DefAA (I think DefAA helped me earlier in the game and that the meta probably still needs more time to settle; he disagreed but all very politely). I'm getting to like the Dallas quite a lot, actually. Skipping Omaha was 100% worth it! We got on well. =) And yes, Dallas is a very fun ship and I hope you enjoy it. Cleveland is also super-fun. The Def AA is good, but I think it mostly just ups the ante on a system already dependent on RNG. Would be nice if you had more flak bursts too out of Def AA instead of DPS that is still a bit stunted. The meta may settle, but it's already had some time and a lot of people still don't know what to do except huddle in AA blobs. Truth be told, that is kind of what ships did in WW2 =)), so props to WG for enforcing realistic playstyle into the game. 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

anonym_2hneAFaIyP4T Players 606 posts Report post #6880 Posted February 20, 2019 Doing some more ranked grind yesterday (and I'm about to give up - I think I've reached the limit of my ability, which is humbling!) and bumped into a few familiar names. Spoiler Performance in the last few days... I'm stuck at R5 @Hawg in trident - both of us in Musashi's. Exchanged pleasantries at the start, and then I gifted him a citadel from my first salvo of the match. Sorry! As tends to be the case, I didn't do particularly well and we lost. @Yurra in a few games... me mostly herpaderping around in them. @GarrusBrutus in his Seattle on trident, we were in the same team. He met up with a mate, judging from the chat joined him on discord, then promptly died . I was kind of plodding a bit solo on the right flank with the rest of the team running around the left. I think I should have pushed a bit tbh... sorry m8! Finally a game where I met a forumite, did reasonably well, and still won... @Ze_Reckless in his Black on Sleeping Giant who topped the scoreboard IIRC. And then repeated the feat with @_Keepo_ in his Jutland on trident where I even came top this time... it was a bit of a lairy game, with me in my Musashi having to basically solo a 'flanking' black for the first 'much-too-long-a-time' in the game. Then in end-game, the usual 'surely those ibuki torps would have come by now' moment... and promptly moved out from an island to eat one on the nose. I think Keepo was worried after that, that I would lose going solo to a yolo-rushing ibuki at 8km and was sending lots of advice in chat. And it wasn't unjustified either, as I nearly did blow it when my I let off a first salvo too low and only got a single pen instead of the anticipated dev strike !!!! But, we pulled through... Took a couple hundred shells to sink him since he didn't deign to show me his side and I'm fairly certain at some point my shells saturating his superstructure added to his armour rather than chunking away at it ... got him in the end. He brought a one-way ticket into the bulk of our fleet and evaporated. Telling us what your team was doing wasn't cool man. I know you were upset that they were lemming trained (you put it on chat) and you died, but you should have just went with them. Well played to both teams (except our ranger that is, screw him) 1. Our DD get's demolished at the start 2. Our CV suicides 3. We lose 2 caps and about a quarter of our team 4. I was just being fascinated at the Midway's planes avoiding my flak and executing perfect maneuvers to hit me each time.
