Indeed, they have only done that out of the goodness of their hearts and because they are true humanitarians. All the proceeds go to aid homeless children and to provide food for the hungry. And they are doing all that just to make us happy. YAY! :cap_like:

I'd give them a word of WHARSHIPS as well!!!

I'm hoping I can get my son on board with this game in a few years, when he's old enough. Would be awesome to division with him regularly.

My son is 13 now, he likes Warships better than his PS4. Usually only because he gets to laugh at his dad.

We have mostly tier V/VI and he already had tier VII and VIII. He likes the DD's and I like the Battleships better.

Yes, old dad is getting a bit slow.

We take some stupid ships as a combination though, me in a New York and him in a DD.

And then I keep an eye on him. Sometimes I manage to blast a pestering cruiser from 15km away, in one shot.

Must say I do behave like an idiot, using the New York to cap... LOL. Following after his DD.

Blasted many attackimng DDs out of the water and getting good at the torpedo dance.

We like to do operations too, in which we do idiot stuff.

Like blocking the Raptor with a CL so the other one can clear a path (kill that Myogi or what BB is it).

Or stopping the Schors from moving out and getting himself killed. Hahahaa!

We also team up with one of his or my friends (too bad can't have more than 3 in a division, or maybe I haven't found out how yet).

But really, this game is great. Free to play, how many games do you get that are free and are actually any good?

I mean, sure we had Flappy Bird... but this... is just from another planet.

I am considerimg buying a ship, not because I need it, but because I think Warships DESERVE it.

Maybe give my son a ship or whatever for his birthday.

I mean, he has a PS4 and we bought games for it at E40-60 a piece.

However, Warships has given more hours of fun, and cost nothing.

That is, if you do not count upgrading one, and buying a second PC... LOL!

SURE there are some thinks that I'd like, and some stuff that I could whine about.

But, remembering that there's lots of people playing this, who have all kinds of old ratty PCs or maybe have the best, it's GREAT.

And yeah sure you can 'PAY TO WIN'. We were around in 'Derpitz' times. Great fun, and educational of a sort as well.

Because you learn that those with big pockets cannot buy skills and practise. Harharhar!

BEST:

 - Operations. Man I really like that. I wish we had more (and I need higher tier, dammit).

- So many different ships. Which is usually how I ff-it up (oh damn, that has torps too... forgot).

- Jump in a game, anytime you want. The waiting time is low. Excellent job.

IMPROVEMENTS (I'd not call it complaints):

- Omaha 1,2,3... how about 'choosing names' (Badges?). There was only ONE Tripitz, but, how many Omaha-class? I get confused...

- Maps could be bigger, objectives could be added. Yes, a bit more like 'operations'. But also, 'escort player A' or something. CV hunt?

- Double CV per team... duh. Ah well sometimes you get cookies. Worse if your CV players suck and theirs are pretty good.

- Sometimes we (division, tier V) end up in Tier VII and we are cannonfodder... (we still  manage to kill a few though).

Some (maybe stupid) ideas

Main thing I'd like is to get more 'realism'. Why defend a certain area A or B - make it a harbour. An airfield. I know it is possible (operations).

Defend a fishing fleet. Maybe make the fishing fleet follow a (randomly chosen) player, instead of pre-determined path.

Maybe you'd have to find them first, and 'CAP them. Then you'd have to lead them somewhere (or time-based).

Have the fishing fleet 'gain fish' which gets divided (converted to XP) by the winning team. If you sink them all, no XP.

If you kill the whole other team, and the fleet is still alive, all the 'catch' is yours any sunk fishingboat of course delivering no XP).

Or only while you 'own' the fleet (by having one ship in the circle), you cash in on what they catch (XP rising per minute).

Escort transports. Basically what is in operations, but now have TWO parties. Would be huge fun.

Transports follow the party which is in their 'lead' circle. So you'd have to 'cap' them, and lead them to safety.

The other party would then try to kill the 'leader' and cap transports for themselves.

In the end there might be no transports left (LOL) so no points, but party A can still kill party B and score points.

In both cases, you just have a 'moving' cap, and if you keep it in one piece it delivers extra points.

But you have to take care not to wreck them as then those extra points are lost.

I can imagine vengeful DDs hding in sight of the harbour to rob the winner from points.

It will give all kinds of possible mayhem, which is great fun.

By now we all know the 'hide-outs' where you stick your ship near caps to score as many as possible.

I think they did it because they see a way to make money.

No doubt they do, selling premium and ships and dubloons and such.

So far I'm having lots of fun though and not a cent spent.

I see it only right to thank them for it. CHEERS WARSHIPS!

We have none of that. We use WhatsApp to communicate, which works fine. Oh and he is used to foul language. You'd not believe what goes around in schools these days.

Last game he called somebody (who was already dead because of GOING IN STRAIGHT LINES) and started calling him names an 'a$$hamster torpedoshagger'.

Which gave LOL from all other team members, including the opposing party.

You can bet though I've been argueing with RNGesus a lot too, but I can't see why people are sometimes whining so badly.

We play this game now for ~ 1 year, watched every Youtube training/tip there is, and guess what: we're getting better.

But we (both) always liked these kind of games. We do NOT like 'failed, go back to save point, try again' kind of games.

And we play about 3 times a week, sometimes most of the weekend. We still sorta suck though.

I think they've done a good game, sometimes the balance is a bit gone - but it's challenging.

Even if I get thrown into a tier VIII game with my Leander I can do well. Many Derpitz players can certify that.

Much better than World of Tanks, which is really much more pay-to-win than this. And this game is cool, too.

There's something for the fast ones (DDs) and for the slow (but patient) ones (BBs) and something in between.

Plus if you spend loads of money to buy that Tier X BB then chances are an experienced, non-paying player will sink it in 20 secs (LOL).

Probably there's something sadistic in liking the rage that goes on in chat after that (haha I feast on your tears LOL).

I hope some ideas will contribute to the fun. Mostly you see the whiners and complainers, but there wil be a lot of players having fun too.

In fact my son is thinking about becoming a game designer so this is sort of 'schooling' for him.

We did have more luck like that, my son has a few premium ships that he got for free or through doing missions / collections.

IMO the most fun is around tier V or so, if you go higher tier then you get a lot of ' I-am-the-best-obey-my-command-you-stupid' jockeys.

Welcome to the Forum

Poor you.... if any consolance, my son ALWAYS uses the 'dice' for crates, and usually gets bubkus.

I usually take 'signals and flags', since I need the non-detonation for the British cruisers (yes they are bad...).

And then I used it ONCE after a really lucky streak, and I get a whole ship + slot + captain!!

OK I can whine about it, if must be:

- I still have to progress through the New Mexico, which I already had...

- It is in fact not better than the New Mexico... except looks like the dispersion is (comes with free RNGesus);

- It attracts flies, like 'hey everybody, let's kill the premium ship' (I always do that myself as wel LMAO);

- XP racked up on it does not go toward any ship progress (free XP does, though).

Also I can train captains on it but I already have captains around 10 points on my other USA ships.

Training a DD or CL captain on a BB would also be slightly odd... ?

SO it's not 'very useful' but hell yeah it is a nice ship and one helluva surprise.

One more, my son had the Cleveland, then it got uptiered to VIII and guess what:

he got a FREE uptiered VIII Cleveland, PLUS het got a FREE Pensacola. Hot damn!

Operation Cherry Blossom is Tier VIII American, British, French, or Russian cruisers. Though not sure if you meant you need higher tier operations, as I thought, or you need higher tier ships for operations, as I wondered after typing the first part of this paragraph.

3 hours ago, BLUB__BLUB said:

Hood is fun and has the distinction of being the only Tier VII Battleship that is larger than the Tier IX "cruiser" Krondshtad. High speed puts you through a turn fast, though turning circle is large. Improved autobounce angles means less richochets and combined with short-fuse AP makes good against cruisers, and can still citadel enemy battleships despite the short-fuse. Defensive AA consumable is pretty bad as only applies to the (very) short-range rockets, though can be useful in operations if you can get between the enemy carrier and its target.

The wiki page at http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Hood and Little White Mouse's review at http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index.php?/topic/125603-premium-ship-preview-hms-hood sum things up better than me though.

So been more common on these forums to complain about Tier V being in a bad place and what a shock it would be to new players suddenly facing the extra challenge. So not only are you a contrarian by not complaining you're also being contrary by liking it the most. :Smile-_tongue:

First of all a :Smile_honoring: to @BLUB__BLUB - I completely agree, that overall, it's an awesome game (Despite its numerous shortcomings in certain areas).

However, the cynic in me is saying, "this guy obviously hasn't popped his cherry yet with this game - give him ~2000 more battles and see what sort of posts he'll be making then..." :Smile_teethhappy:

Nop, I played together with my son before. So I'd have those 2000 battles, easily.

And yes I am annoyed at the 'turn rate' of the guns on QE.  And yes I do meet the occasional A-hole...

I still like it.

Ah OK. I was wondering if I'd have to buy something to get more than 3 in a division for randoms.

Q: so, if we have 4 friends, we can play the other Operations. But, usually you get 7 players.

What happens if we enter with 4... do we get '3 volunteers' , 3 bots, or do we just get 4 players?

Yup duh, indeed. I need higher tier ships. Some more grinding to do. Too bad not all operations are Tier VI.

It was a bit of a bummer when I fisrt discovered that they were above VI.

As in: grind a few more BBs, DDs and CLs to tier VI, to be ready for next weeks operation.

Ah damn and then it was tier VII. Haven't seen Tier VIII yet though.

Protected matchmaking? LOL. Never found such a thing. Yesterday I had a tier IV ship and got tier V.

And I am sure we did tier II DD and tier IV CL, we got tier V game.

I always thought we were 'judged' by experience too. Never happened when we were 'new'.

Doesn't matter, I consider it 'an OK game' when I have at least killed one ship, and done damage to a few others.

Seen that. I suppose it would be better than the QE, which is not just slow but also non-turning.

I've done better in tier VII using the old New York, LOL.

Not sure how you managed a Tier II with a Tier IV as I thought divisions were limited to a one tier spread. As to protected matchmaking there is the chart here. You can see that at Tier V the +1/-1 matchmaking of Tier III and IV shifts to +2/-1 and people have commented about the jump in difficulty between facing a Tier V in a Tier IV and facing a Tier VII in a Tier V.
