Got a massive headace after trying to explain how useles the smokescreen is for anything that is not the DD that makes it in game after having a shoot out in my nagato vith another nagato, at range of +10km through smoke screen.  you can still spot through it, You can still be seen from within and so on but my head hurts after the comments i got from that. My fawourite one being ''you just dont know how to use your smoke screen''   :amazed:

I like the answers you have to plan ahead, do not drive towards the DD, stay away from island (easier said then done when the map is sprinkled with them),....

There are instances when you have no other choice, especially in the endgame, and there the DDs get really dangerous.

How should you decap, if there is jsut a big smoke cloud in your capcricle, you can just wait it out and hope it dissipates before the timer is filled.

Or I was alone in a Kongo vs. a DD and a carrier in the endgame, not much I could do, the DD was kiting me outside of viewrange spamming Torpedoes and his smokescreen. There are only so many torpedoes you can dodge before he gets you.

The problem is the cruisers which should be a counter to the DDs are as blind as Battleships and suffer the same problems, even worse as a Torpedospread sinks them quite easily. The quickfiring guns count for nothing if you can not see the enemy,

I have battled cruisers in DDs and win against them regularly. You close to torpedo range, and especially IJN destroyers are then still out of spotting range, fire the torpedos, and if he really spotted you you turn on smoke and weave when running away. Rinse and repeat until he is dead. On teh US destroyers he has a better chance to spot you, but then you have torpedoes port and starboard, fire one salvo, smoke, turn 180 degress, and fire the next, and watch the cruiser explode.

DDs are fun if you in them, but a royal pain if you are not driving one.

One quick counter would be to give the divebombers better bombs so that they have a chance to sink a destroyer when they hit it, would also make these planes finally useful.

The DD mechanics still need some works. We are currently only in CBT and people are not really happy, think about the complaints, when all the people who now mastered DDs start sealclubbing in OBT.

Here we go again. As a BB (and any other ship really) you need to plan your movements well ahead. Driving between islands as if you're some racing car is going to get you killed if there is a DD lurking somewhere. No time to correct your mistake? The DD should not get punished for it, you should. As for all the other "fantastic" suggestions coming from either mediocre DD players or people who've only "learned by watching", play a DD on higher tiers when the sky is swarming with scout planes and watch your limited amount of 5 torp salvoes get spotted from 15km away.

Except it was end game and i had no choice but to try cap. Should i just let them win cause a DD in his SC is sitting in the cap invisible at less then 2km ??. I have played this game a decent amount. And as stated this is about low tier DDs.
