They certainly changed some policies.

The prices are increased by 35% in Turkey in one day.

I think they used to keep the prices low due to high Euro/TRY exchange rates but now it's back to where it is.

It's impossible to buy anything from the shop if you are living in Turkey. @MrConway

That's awful. They are only selling pixels for heaven's sake.   My sincerest sympathies to players from Turkey. :Smile_honoring:

Wargaming handled this in a very un-businesslike way!  What they SHOULD have done was announce that prices were going up in a week's time.

This would have given people the incentive to spend money before the price rise.

If the Turkish coin lost value, isn't this normal then?

It's normal but before the increase they deliberately used to keep the prices relatively low so that they were purchasable.

Now they are extremely expensive to purchase.

I can clearly say that I will not be spending a single penny with the current pricing. Even if they make the summer sales campaign as they did last year.

How much did they cost and how much do they cost now?

To give you an example the 100xPapa Papa flags used to cost 12TRY on Sunday and now it costs 16.5TRY

Leningrad before: 75TRY   now: 102TRY

Tirpitz before: 150TRY now: 222TRY

So, good bye premium shop.

If I take an exchange rate of 5.55:1, the old price was €2.19, now for you it's €3.01. For me it's now €3.30, how are you being ripped off? Or am I missing something here?

Tirpitz for you old price €27.38 new price €40.52, my price €44.95 :cap_hmm:

If the problem is that you lost an economic privilege (or most of it as you still pay less), then I'm not really feeling sorry for you :Smile-_tongue:

Wait, I could actually ask you to gift me a Tirpitz, you pay €27 and I give you, say, €35, you would actually have made a profit here? :cap_wander:

I am not being ripped off, never said that.

What you are missing is you are comparing the prices from your point of view.

€40.52 is still extreme with the current economy here. €27.38 was OK ish.

Would you pay €144 for a Tirpitz?

You don't need to, thanks.

Well, half of Europe has purchasing power similar to Turkey:

so you should not compare your prices only to Norway or other Switzerland ;)

The shop is still lying to the customers tho. Even if WG sticks to the new compensation system, they need to change the shop ASAP!

You cannot advertise something as being discounted with 20%, then give the buyer only 80% of the product.

It's been almost a week now with no news from @MrConway or anyone from WG about this.

Perhaps they are considering it. But if it was an oversight, wouldn't they have fixed it a long time ago? Iirc I knew about this 'method' even back when I started and (this I already mentioned earlier) it does seem like a nice way to keep veteran players on board here.

But instead, it does seem fine to give returning players kinda the same stuff for free. Both methods may help in keeping players here and the player base healthy.

I was tempted to buy the Warspite package, more or less just for the fun of doing the bundled XP booster missions. Luckily, however, someone posted the reduced compensation value they'd received for their duplicate Warspite - and it was clear that I'd be paying full price for the items received. So, no sale for WG.

If it was an oversight, we would have heard it last Friday. No, it's an attempt to limit the amount of easy doubloons players can get. And it's not done openly and honestly as we can see.

The problem with this is that it's running head first into an EU directive against false advertising. If WG continues to lower the doubloon payout for owned ships, without clearly stating in the offer that it is the case, then they are committing a crime. The lack of clear information about getting less doubloons for a double is the problem here, not the fact that they are lowering the payout.

First of all a big thank you! and :Smile_honoring: to @Leo_Apollo11 for bringing this thread to our attention!

Now, judging by the lack of update by a certain WG employee, I think it's fair to assume that he either didn't like what he found - i.e. what was reported in the quoted thread is actually true - or he never intended to actually 'look into it' in the first place. Both of which seem quite odd to me, because why would he just throw away all his credibility like that when he could've just ignored this thread and saved face?!?

Anyway, best we can do is to keep this thread alive (until it gets closed by a moderator) and hope to bring this to the attention of as many people as possible.

Even the forum getting boring - no interesting topics?

I might have a few in the pipeline, so keep waiting. I don't recommend you hold your breath though, as who knows when I can actually get to posting them - or whether they'd qualify as 'interesting' in your book.

What was found out in the original thread on reddit has already been confirmed to be true.

The reddit thread has this update:

Quote

Update: My ticket is now on hold and i was told that this change for compensation for already owned ships is now under review. Thats atleast something. So they kind of admit now that there has been a change. And maybe now caused by feedback here and on the forums, they are rethinking it. Lets hope so. And if they decide to not go back to the old model, then they need to update the shop to reflect that ASAP.

So WG has confirmed that a change was done to the system, but not publicly. And caused by the ticket and these two threads, they now are looking into it.

Quote

Update2: My ticket is still on hold. I was now told that i could get a refund if i want, or that i could keep waiting. I told them i wait for a proper answer about this whole situation. I will keep my ticket open as long as it takes (very bad for their CS staff stats, but sorry not my problem). It is not about my refund. Either WG choses to return to the old system, and apologizes for this mess. Or WG sticks to the new system, apologizes and updates the webshops to reflect the new policies. And they need to do this very soon! Before someone actually involves a form of consumer protection agency...

I assume that its not that @MrConway doesnt want to talk to us about it. Much more likely, people higher-up are still arguing what to do about this, and how to proceed. And he is being told to wait. Understandable, and telling us every day to "Hey guys, please wait longer" would be useless.

But a week without even a little peep... not great. At the very least a reply such as "we are still looking into this, it will take more time, please be patient guys" would be better than silence.

As often, WG sticks their head into the sand and hopes for the best. Thats how we perceive it.

Those "new" prices are just the standard prices they've had for as long as I can remember.

If anything you should be happy that you got a >25% base discount on everything for a while.

This is the most likely explanation as to why we haven't heard anything about it. I find it sad WG is acting first and thinking later.
