i think that is a terible idea. the soloution (atleast what i think) to make this mod unuseable

The mod can help obtain citadels, but it doesn't produce consecutive salvoes of 20K+ hits without a fair amount of luck thrown in - in some cases the bino view clearly shows the lead indicator X to be in the wrong place for a hit. It does increase the average damage per shell lobbed off, I would say - ie over the course of a series of battles you'll consistently find your average damage figure increasing...I tested it (then turned it off) and reckon my damage output went up by maybe as much as 50%. As I tend to fight my BBs at 12km or less I can pretty much hit stuff well enough already,the increased damage is probably from 2 things - (1) Longer range shots more likely to hit, or hit for more damage, than the relatively low percentage of 20km hits I usually get, and (2) For ships that are in mid to far ranges I no longer have a problem estimating speed and direction.

 

Point 2 is the main one in my view, it is quite possible for us old folk to see a distant ship and not realise it has stopped, or is going in reverse, until our salvo lands a mile away from it - with this mod you have no doubt, and that reduces the wasted shots, which is probably the biggest impact on the game. It's okay to say 'dodge and you'll be okay' - you won't, because the guy shooting you will know your new course and speed the moment your ships lumbers (BB) into a turn or speed change, and the lengthy period of time it takes a BB to make a meaningful turn means you are pretty much unable to turn faster than the firer can adjust.....and when you see a turn in progress it's wasy to 'lead' the X indicator to compensate.

 

For this who, like me, dislike this mod I suggest the version 3 over the 3 - that one consistently gave me a 'trailing' indicator!

 

Time for the ban hammer, hopefully, before this gets too silly - if this mod is given the go ahead I confidently predict we'll then see a few more arrive that are even bigger game breakers.

 

If WG want to incorporate this mod, then I think it MIGHT have a place in coop battles, where new players could learn about lead by using the mod - get used to the sight picture when leading different types of ship at different ranges etc. giving them a sort of 'muscle memory' effect to help them judge lead for themselves (without the red X) in the randoms.

well, atm is very nice - you got 20-30k damage being one shooted ( from the one salvo ) from 20km because of 4-5x crit in citadel  - try to hit ammo depot below main turret from 20km

This mod does not Change anything CRIT wise at all. You shoot at the same place without this Mod and your damage is the same - if RNJesus didnt suddenly decide to hate you.

It does tell you where exactly you have to aim so you are allowed to pray to RNJesus at all.

This accusation (crit) is not true.

 

Anyway, imho there is no room for such mods (or Eye of Sauron) in WoWs anyway.

They should disable it or make it the regular aiming tool, so everybody has is and not  only a few who want to be unicoms. 

 

and to be honest its taking the fun out of the game, knowing your going into a game where others have an advantage over you, and less chance of winning, sad really.

From a commercial stand-point they have to ban this mod. Most of the challenge of a game is climbing the learning curve. This Mod get's you 90% of the way to the top. Any new player can master the slight changes you need to make from the aim-point to compensate for a dodging target in a hundered games tops. I can't see playing this game with aim mods (and spending $$$) for more than a few hundred games, never-mind the tens-of-thousands players do with Tanks.

 

Can you also imagine being a completely new player with no mods and trying out this game vs. players with a few thousand games and aim mods. You'd get sunk so fast every game you'd be hard pressed to stick around for more than a dozen tries.

 

As for me, I'm playing more and more Co-Op until this gets resolved.

My main problem for playing the game now is that I know some people have this mod installed, and I have been one shoted in my DD twice yesterday, by two BB, one from 8km away (but it was a kawachi, so max range for him) and another from a fuso, from 15 km away.

 

Also, found a Cleveland that was either very good or very aim bot user, because he squared both salvoes, without ranging shots on my Mogami from 12 km away while I was maneuvering.

 

I'm not saying that those guys used aim lead mod. Maybe they did, maybe they were good, maybe it was luck.

 

But the problem is that my mood is like "Well, I'm going to play other thing" because the DOUBT is enough for me to switch to another game. 

 

PS: Also, and totally unrelated, I'm finding some guys in BB who are traveling in a line, I fire my torpedoes in a jap destroyer out of sight and after 10 secs they start changing course. Luck? awareness? crazy Ivan? or a mod? I don't know, but as I told before, the sole DOUBT about the possibility, is more than enough.

Well, my hype-train for buying preorder-packs has most definitely derailed. And if they decide that these types of mods are no problem at all they will never see any of my :coin: thats for sure!

 

My guess is that a majority of challenge-seeking adult gamers feel the same way about this. Like said above, one can play non immersive games for simpletons on ones phone while taking a dump.

No need for that in a pvp-focused triple-A computer game, full stop.

Personally, when I see a destroyer turning away from me instead of trying to close in, I'm like "Prrroob must be a field of torps in front". Really easy to decipher their intentions once you see them.

 

Also, the smoke clouds. I turn away from them no matter how the destroyer moves. Go in and find 5 more DDs launching a field of torps at your own risk.

Thats just one of the smaller things that annoys me. I'm not great by any means, but I have been trying to put in the time and learn how to lead, good tactics and so on. Now it seems all that effort was pointless as the game fills up with people using this mod that easily derp you with no skill what-so-ever.

Why cant not one leave a game unmodded? You not happy how it looks or works dont play it then ffs. Mods ruin every game from WG. 

 

I dont like people modding to be able to get an advantage in battle and i think its against every EULA!

What i really wonder about is - normally, the staff looks into "hot topics" and posts after some time if its important/interesting.

 

This topic has NO staff post so far, although we are at more then 300 posts and still growing.

 

I REALLY hope this means that they are working on it in the background and not trying to sit it out like in WoT where people in the EU can more or less do what they want regarding the mods...
