In fact, if you visit his prfile you can see that he has the Scharnhorst but not the Gneisenau. On topic: Like the guys already said, it depends on what you want to have playstyle-wise, among others. Reliable workhorses with superb AA and armor layout forcing one to git gud or suffer, then USN BB from North Carolina onwards. If idiotproof is your virtue, then ze Germans. Frenchies on average focus smaller guns which may or may not be compensated with their numbers. Tea battleboats balance mediocre hulls and gunnery with lolHE shells and superb concealment. People do play differently on the PTS, but it would give you an idea of how the ships feel and whether they feel right for you and how things change as you go up the line. [SM0KE] Verblonde Players 9,787 posts 20,664 battles Report post #21 Posted June 6, 2018 Speaking as one of the worst BB players under the known sky, I find some of the German ones quite forgiving at this stage in my learning (so far, anyway); they tend to be most dangerous at mid-to-close ranges, and their armour (turtleback) similarly works better as you get closer. Some of them have phenomenal secondaries too, which means you can at least start some fires, even if you can't shoot straight with your main guns! All that stuff that orientates you towards closer ranged play does also mean it's easier to resist the BB malady of heading for the borders and 'sniping' from there... Her insane accuracy means that she can easily aim for weak spots with the spotter plane and she also has sufficient armor to negate most HE damage and avoid overmatching in her midplate. The Yamato (Japanese) is incredibly accurate but is significantly more vulnerable to other battleships that all of her contemporaries. She shares the same insane accuracy and the ability to overmatch tier X cruisers and battleships alike. Her main weakness is her sluggishness in general. It takes very long for her to get anywhere and her turret makes her slow to react to threats despite her proficiency as an assault gun platform. The Kurfurst (German) is very strong against HE. Her erratic guns and her clumsiness makes her a hard pick however, even with her hydroacoustic search. The Conqueror (British) is a little boring in my opinion, but has concealment on par with cruisers and the ability to deliver explosive damage with both HE and AP. I have seen people use her to insane effect, so a good pick as long as you know to watch your positioning and have good aim. The Republique (French) is interesting. Her guns are incredible if they behave and irritating when they don't. She also can be deceptively tough but I often feel like it's less a matter of what I'm doing with the ship as the RNG that uses her black hole armor to absorb shells. Of the AP focused battleships, I find her the easiest to farm damage with thanks to her fast speed and excellent guns. So well, pick your poison I guess. There's really no wrong choice here. You shouldn't spread yourself too thin though. The lines you have picked have good performers, so I would just suggest sticking with them.
