Why is MM so bad to me, pls WG It´s clearly not enough Unicorns in my team, plzz Viktor buff my MM, give more Unicorns......

 

Game was over pretty quickly after the Duckshooting we had when enemy team lemminged all to A.

OP go see my post in the MM thread, i explain how WoWs MM system works, its easy to predict match outcomes before actually playing the match, i can even tell the percentage chance to win with the system i use.

It's hilarious how unbalanced this game is in just about every possible way.

And the only reason I died was a silly missplay of not using damage con even though I had it avaliable any time. Bald and MV are crying how the game will end super soon and at the same time I got distracted by something else and I forgot to put out the fires. At least I prolonged the match for one more kill ^^

 

Saddest part is you don't even need so many unicums and try hard divisions to get such outcomes. I find flat out wipes more and more frequent nowadays :(

I mean, the game lasted for a record time of 8,27min. But hey as soon as I saw their lemming I went full speed to nearest cap.

I musta been on the opposite team of the MM you are describing. Ive had awful games yesterday.

What took so long if match making was as lopsided as you say?

 

My fastest win is around 5 mins and multiple other time's it's been around 6 minutes.

True, but you still take out try hard division nevertheless.

 

I mean, one of the best CV players on the server, combined with two of the bestAA ships with radar (and dito players).

 

 

What do you think is gonna happen?

 

 

Enemy dds die in an instant, the average and even more than average CV has no counterplay whatsoever, you'll have all caps and enemy team won't even dare to contest.

To be safe, I'm not saying here you shouldn't take those ships as such. Just that if you are really annoyed with flat out wipes, you could have tried to go a little bit less weaponized?...

Well tryhard division makes stomps more frequent that is true, but what it also does it prevents them happening to your team. Amount of free wins full tomato teams got with us is considerable, players that couldn't wipe their own butts at the same time being perfectly capable of sabotaging your team efforts. What the image in the OP shows is an error of the matchmaker. Our team had about 10 unicums, an average Bismarck and a stock Tashkent if he didn't free exp the modules. We should be on the other side, then that would be an interesting game, however MM decided to give us a stomp.

 

A while back ago you could have met couple similar divisions per day, get some interesting games but there is less and less tryharding now and playing that way becomes more and more dull. And what happens is you win 40% automatically regardless of what you do, next 40% you need to perform average, then there is 20% left with hard carry that can either go well or not depending on the day. It wasn't that blatantly easy months back.

I very rarely play solo anymore myself, although I prefer 2 man divs over 3 man divs, because it feels somewhat more "balanced". I have my NA account for my solo adventures. There the full on try hard divs are still very much alive though - almost never see their purple clanmembers going solo. Though I don't really see a lot of games with more than one, so not really that fun (be it them being opposite, or same team)

 

 

I am pleasantly (well...) surprised by your feeling that the game has become (even) more lopsided since a few months. I share the exact same sentiment. It is just my opinion, but I have the feeling it somewhat started with the very regular 5BB+5DD (+ leftover) meta. I couldn't escape thinking that a lot more braindeads have started/picked up again on their DDs.

 

And while idiot BBs are irritating in their inability to read the gameflow (or unwillingness to act on it), idiot DDs have a way bigger impact.

 

I still have matchmonitor running most of the time, and with 10 beyond redemption DDs, it becomes impossible to predict anything.

Will it be two of my DDs who sit broadside in smoke and get double devstruck, or will it be the red team's? ... Things like that.

 

I don't know for sure if it is the influx of (bad) DDs that is to blame, but I agree that it is in the timespan that you refer to. You have a specific opinion on what is causing this BS?

Yeah, saw a few clan divisions recently and correctly predicted the game result. Unfortunately they were on the enemy team. The most frustrating thing is the MM seems to try to mirror divisions... but it thinks 3x T10s from same clan is equivalent to 2x T8s randomly together.

 

I wonder, is this the result of more players/clans taking clan battles seriously and recruiting and actually making sure to practice together in divisions? Can MM even be realistically expected to handle these cases?

 

Having said that, we did some sniping last week and somehow lost badly with 6 clan members on TS on the same team, so you can always hope they get too cocky and/or just really screw up :fish_palm:

This isn't new, anybody with a brain encounters it during play.

 

DD is easiest to kill, and there is very little of calculated DD play nowadays. Most of the time as you said, DD enters the cap, deploys its smoke and sits inside it broadside limiting it's ability to dodge and see what is coming after it if it's not torpedoes. You can still throw your ship away easily even if you play safe. Missing one thing that eventually kills you is very simple, that's the life of a DD or any ship for that matter in the era of prolonged radar, prolonged hydros, spotter planes, deep water invisitorps or whatnot. A BB that saves his HP for the endgame to then desperatly throw himself in the enemies arms effectively getting focused by half enemy team when its already too late, instead of spending its health slowly during the course of the game is no different to a overextending cruiser or a DD with no imagination.

 

Matches that feel balanced and do not feel like landslides are those with 2-3 DD or one DD per cap max, and with a healthy dose of long range HE spamming cruisers not necesarily with radar capabilities as oversaturation with radar makes cap contesting a hell. That mix usually makes DD's encountering only a single counterpart, BB's putting out one fire, then kiting away to the map border and then long range engagement starts.  Dev strikes still can happen but are less common at high ranges than up close, DD has to chase its forever kiting battleship target to score maybe one torp hit, CA/CL are outranged by the kiting BB and have to chase them as well and the slow paced game continues. BB's get pushed away, caps get recontested and match feels somehow balanced even tho players are doing stupid crap.

 

If MM oversaturates the teams with radar ships, hydro ships, AA ships, torpoedo boats, smoke ships or battleships, then games can take absurd not fun course and lead to boredom. Not even mentioning a unicum CV against a baboon, a unicum div without a counterweight on the other team, or compose the team of complete tomatoes against an average and then the magic landslide happens.

 

Game is RNG based to a big extent and players might or might not like it. The better the player is the less he likes all the dice rolls. Life cycle of a MMO is simple, old players are likely to leave someday, newcomers are being encouraged to join and WG does impressive job of not teaching any basics whatsoever to a new player. There is absolutely no way to teach them quickly the basics of cold and calculated play outside of counting on him being a smart gamer to begin with, doing it yourself in divisions or recommending CC content to follow but not everybody likes watching others play or reading boring guides.

 

Combine that with power of hydros, radars, AA, secondaries over enemy ships which translates to practically no torpedo zones, no-go zones, no-fly zones and such. Bring a player that doesn't respects those zones and he wastes his torps, wastes his planes, wastes his HP, ultimately wastes his ship.

I was even surprised when looking at the time after. But the important message here is the MM. Time can be somewhat irrelevant if it takes 20 min chasing 1-3 surviving potatoes to the border in standard battle for example.
