Why players not are climbing the ranks in Ranked as expected

What in this Ranked season is hindering my progression

Why would i pay money instead of getting it for free? Its not different from randoms anyway. And this is the problem imo. It supposed to be a competetiv mod.

Well I'm just saying I hope no one is doing it primarily for the gold as it's worth next to nothing compared to the work that would be put in.

 

And yeah, Ranked is basically Random Battles + mode.

As if the top loser saving a star wasn't bad enough...

It was one of the ideas. It can be changed. The goal is to make ranked competetiv and let people play with other random people in ther skill level. This is what ranked actually had to be. 

I dont agree with top loser saving star being bad. Back then I actually suggested if someone in losing team performs well enough, he should keep the star.

 

Btw i can say the same for you. Your point of view to ranked: "do not make it competetiv! I want to play 600 battles and reach ranked 1! Do not let divs as well!. :cap_haloween:

 

I know what i suggested is not gonna happen because of the quality of wows playerbase.

Oh yes, it needs looking at.

 

WG seem to have perfected the grind to R1 as most will need between 200 to 400 games at a 50%ish WR but I for one get less and less satisfaction every time. I'm only doing it to farm salt in the Black then that'll be it for me...

My reason isn't in there, I got ill and still atm. Took some time off from being sulky pouty in bed to post here though.... Still I cannot be bothered to get back into it; didn't get into the groove properly and feeling like a wet paper towel atm won't help any game I'd try to play. XD

I saw some complaints from a player about potato teams in ranked, him not progressing..., so I checked his stats and they were pretty much spot on by WR in Random tier 10 and Ranked tier 10. Isn't lack of progression more reasonable if you tend to lose more games than you usually win? If your stats also correspond in Random and Ranked, you kind of should know what to expect, shouldn't you?

 

Those of you who foremost blame the team for lack of progression, does anyone of you carry a significantly better solo WR in Random games tier 10, than in Ranked?

I would say I do to an extend. You have up realise that random games take longer and caps generally tick more slowly. This forces plays in ranked. The success of those is dependent on good coordination. You notice when playing with members of typhoon or hurricane clans.

In cruisers that I like to play - hinden, zao - it feels like a lottery as to which quality of DDs I'll have. I probably started too late, but  most DDs seem to be useless beyond belief. So atm I resorted to going z52, and even though I like the ship and can win a lot, it is frustrating, cause I almost never hold my star on a loss. And yeah, that includes capping multiple times and killing DDs.

 

Don't forget that because of 7 person team every ship is more important than in randoms, not to mention it is a tier 10 ship, the loss of which is extremely hard to compensate. Getting your only radar blapped in the 4th minute, while the enemy still has two left is something that is almost impossible to come back from.

 

(I know, coordinated pressure on the right spot could compensate. Hah.)

Your stats do look fairly similar. Plays are more forced in ranked, and teams are generally a bit better and games can be coordinated to some degree. Same for both Random and Ranked is that you have to do the best you can in any given match up.

I've been playing dds entire season. I know how hard it is to retain stars in losses to the point I've given it up. I'm just trying to increase the chance of my team winning and accept a star loss if I can't win.

Coordination is pretty much a toss up, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'd rather not see the WR of players before the battle, but I do check for recognizable clans and players, as well as ship match ups.

I am trying mate. I really am. Usually I get my team the spot, announce what I am going to do, announce the targets that are the biggest threat, predict enemy movements and what not. Too often players don't know the drill which brings us to:

This. I am the most useful in dds as well, they are by far my best class. The problem is that - even though a lot of people have played clan battles - a lot don't actually put what they (should have) learnt there to good use. Funnily enough players from typhoon or hurricane usually immediately know the drill. There is very little need for communication beyond the first 30s and they will intuitively do their job - and apologise if they fail at it. 

 

Due to me not being able to play more they have become a dying breed to encounter though. Was really lucky to have one of our desmo mains on my team yesterday. In fact, so long as the other guys don't die like flies,  it is pretty much checkers down if you have 2 to 3 people who know what to do. 

 

Update: reached rank four thanks to some great guys on my teams. When your only bb is afk of sorts for the whole game and you still win it's a great feeling. Witnessed an epic throw as well, but was fortunate enough to save the star. Glad to be having the hydro mod for my future z. Again it showed though that purple wins games. Shout out to the dude in the Monti who was an absolute team slave on hot spot. The rare breed of great bb player right there.

Because ranked players usually feel good about bullying unranked players like myself on random battles who are equally as good.....this is why I report narcissistic ranked players and degrade their reputation and ranked score.  Probably the answer you are looking for.  Ranked players have a rank E-Sports wannabe attitude

you degrade their reputation and ranked score?? Maybe their Karma a bit, but that really doesn't matter. I'm not sure what that answers and I don't think that was what I was looking for... :cap_hmm:

To answer the original question;

I know I'm not good enough to reach rank 1 so I don't try.

The first couple of rewards are good enough, so that's as far as I go.

 

Plus, I can honestly say that my winrate over the last 2 series of Ranked is 100%.......:cap_cool:

(Mostly cos I'v only played one game in each..:Smile_hiding:)

 

But I have fun without causing trouble for the more committed player.....:cap_popcorn:

Not necessarily. If the game is flooded with bad players, MM might not matter, and you may believe bad teammates/players is the issue - not MM. Hypothetically.

Yes, but that is if MM only flooded by bad players.

If MM is flooded by both good and bad players, and you end up having bad players on your team vs good ones on enemy team, i think then, bad teammates is related to bad MM.

If you believe that to be the issue - 'bad MM' might be the choice for you. There's just a bunch of different options to vote for and I think 'bad teammates' and 'bad MM' should be 2 separate options. It's mostly a subjective thing what you feel is hindering your progress. Not meant to be a science poll... I think I tried include every option I've seen people complain about for not liking Ranked or ranking up.
