Why players not are climbing the ranks in Ranked as expected

This is clearly a troll poll, with too many options.

 

In my case, after getting to rank 1 in my first ranked season (last season), I am unable to repeat that because I have no T10s. For that reason I will probably just do the odd few battles to get to rank 10 (I will start at 13 so it shouldn't take long) when my Benson is fully upgraded, but will have to stop there because there is no way in hell I will grind 400 battles in the Iowa just to get to the Montana. Same goes for the Baltimore. All other lines are at most at T7, and that is with quite an intensive grind since September last year.

 

I was hoping they would go to other tiers, but restricting this season to T10 just felt like a kick in the teeth. On one hand I understand that it's good to not have P2W in ranked, but to expect players to grind in excess of 1 million XP grinding a line fully for the privilege to participate in a stressful event is a bit too much, in my opinion.

Mostly plain lousy teamplay and selfish goons playing to save a star rather than trying to actively win.

I am actually doing better than normal this season, Asashio is a brilliant ship if the team understands that you are basically a one weapon platform and need the space for that weapon to be effective.  Just 2 more wins and I will be highest rank that I have achieved since the first season I played which was a long time ago.  As stated in the thread about the 9th season I tried all types of ships before settling on Asashio as the best option (This is a brilliant DD as I normally suck in DD's)

Asashio is the worst DD you can actually pick... you are powerless against other DDs. And you can only torp BBs. Its just dumb to play in ranked.

As always, I start at rank 19 and stop at rank 15
All irrevocable, a few flags, a day of premium, and I get a nice little decorative flag at the end of the season.

And they can not torp any CA/CL either, love it when I see one on the opposing team, I go out of my way to find it in my Zao or Minotaur

this season is pure horror for me....till t10 it was smooth....60+ WR.....after that.....like a bot....it ussualy goes like this....in 3 first game there are 4 non clan players with t 9 captain that die in first 3 mnutes from flood in yamato or run as dd straiht to radar...aftr that i totaly lost nerves, i 4-th i kill first idiot a spot and 5th i am just so frustrated that i start to play like braindead idiot.....and after week..still @ rant 10.....so yeah.....y final answer is i am idiot for playing this and i play like idiot

That is just wrong. Ranked has NOTHING to do with skill. Its a starsaving simulator. Do the right thing and you might lose a star. DMG farm with a Conq and you keep it. Thats it. No skill. Even the biggest potato can reach rank one. Only thing you need is patience. Not skill.

Star saving play will take along time to achieve as winning is more about damage...

 

As there's still no guarantee playing to farm will net you first place. If the team collapses too fast a BB will melt under focus fire and if a friendly DD is good then they'll just cap and kill enough enemy DDs to best a pure damage farmer.

Not at all wrong. It's not perfect, but I've played YY exclusively - If I play well, we have a good chance of winning, if I don't perform well enough, it's much more likely a loss. The climb is much tougher around rank 4-5 than it was 7-10. Why? Because players are performing better. Yes, the starsavers are an issue, but skill most certainly play a big role in the climb. I'll see if I'll continue for much longer. The cruiser meta is making things difficult.

In my case I don't even play ranked battles. I tried them but everybody does lemming train, going together to a same place and shooting from afar. It's not funny to play like that.

Without any hard data, confirmation bias can be wild. I think the tier X meta is very different than the tier 8 one, and quite simply is harder to carry in. I'm 90ish odd games in, and slipped from rank 6 to 7 last night. I limit myself to a handful of games a day, to avoid hating the game, so i mostly enjoy ranked, though i banged out about 20 yesterday, which is probably why i lost rank! You don't have to play it, it's not mandatory, it's just more content, like scenarios or Clans. I don't clan either because i play when i want to, it's not my job :) I'm almost exclusively a YY player this season, and the tier X cruiser meta is bloody interesting lol. I always play to win, for the exact same reason, it's a game, and i like winning in my games! Star saving is such a negative mindset, it baffles me that people can enjoy it, but the reality is i would think, they don't. Strange situation indeed. If i find myself getting salty and saying stupid crap in chat, i usually pull the plug for the night.

Over the last two days I climbed from 10.1 to 8.3 while losing only 3 games and one star. There was some luck involved, but I feel the game is much more enjoyable at t10. I'm almost exclusively playing dd sinceit is my strongest class and. ....well, I have a hard time trusting other guys to do the job well. So far I actually like this season, which I would have never expected beforehand.

It is a good season. I breezed through ranks 10-6 and had a great time in YY, but now I'm in cruiserhell :(. Still a good season but it's become much tougher to progress in a dd...

Hyperbole. Sometimes you get lucky, so it's not "literally" impossible. It's just far less likely. But yes, destroyers are not rewarded properly for their efforts. It is far easier, far less risky and most importantly far more XP for sitting in the back farming damage, while letting others cap, spot and detect incoming torpedoes for you at the risk of their own ship.

Today i lost rank4 and came back to rank5... Even having good players in the team, we didnt manage to have a succesful games... It got annoyingly annoying...

Yea, I just got back into rank 4 after a nice comeback no thanks to me, even though I managed to stay in the battle and cap 2 caps (sounds a lot better now), and another game in which I managed to top. The thing is that teams are better than in Random battles, there are less opportunities to take advantage of enemy team's stupidity ............

 

And everyone and their grandmother knows where you are as a lone dd trying to cap that middle base. You're lucky if there's only one radar close by to take into account. The focus is just so much greater. Yes, there are bad plays, but the frustration from many players is mostly due to that the opposition is taking advantage of mistakes just as much as your team and that's not as common in Random games.

 

I've been looking over my dd build and pondered about different ships, but I'm sticking with YY for the moment, switching only between smoke and radar now and then. Still pretty fun in Ranked, as long as you walk away at the right moments.

 

Edit not sure if I complimented you last time I saw you, might have run out. Well played either way. Tough game :(
