Why players not are climbing the ranks in Ranked as expected

What in this Ranked season is hindering my progression

While I agree on the unrealistic expectations and that the system isn't perfect, I think the irrevocable ranks and star saving systems are pretty fine. Yes, some are very good at retaining their stars, but I think most are actually playing to win in the end.

You missed one off your list.

 

It is boring and tedious. I tried it again this season, just could not face endless boring games that bring nothing but frustration.

 

The promotion through ranks is not truly based upon ability or performance. It is quite easy to get carried up the ranks, if you play enough battles.Perhaps not to rank 1, but quite high all the same.

 

For a really balanced rank equation, then the top three damage/xp dealers on the winning team advance, the rest don't advance, and on the losing team the top thee damage/xp dealers keep their rank, the others lose it. No more carrying dead weight.

There are lots to be honest but the main two for me is: 

 

1) I am tied of dragging corpses over the finishing line.  Those that don't deserve it but get though anyway because 1 or 2 players play like a man possessed. 

2) I am tied of doing all the hard work and see other players throw it away for no reason what-so-ever.

 

It's not fun, it's stressful and not in a good way.

 

Clans battles is stressful but in a good way.

CB has 2 rather important things - "team" and "teamwork". That's what makes CB so great

Have to agree.

 

Having played both seasons of CW I've found a good clan makes it all pretty enjoyable.

 

First Season wasn't working but the one just gone I'm amongst a great group of folk who worked around all our personal lives, we all got a Stalingrad flag and I farmed something in excess of a million Elite XP.

 

Ranked is far more random and gives far less rewards unless you're talking Flint or Black.

Although, as a potato, it would probably kick me in the teeth, I agree with this general sentiment. I might make it top 4-5, or maybe 6 of the winning team though...

Oh, for the recorded i have seen more AFK players in 10 games in ranked than i have in Random in 50 games.  

 

Twice i have dragged these "players" through and they didn't even have to touch the mouse.  Is that fair?  The others were against and where annihilated.  One was an enemy cv (Graf) with myself in the Enterprise.... I showed no mercy what-so-ever with 3 bismarcks in the enemy team.  Is that fair? Nope.

Players lack patience and ppl throw games that are won by doing nothing. 

 

Irrevocable should be swiched to struggle to stay in set league, it would get rid off bots and total waste of space players.

10 battles and 7 wins in ranked......You are actually moaning about winning???? that's a new one. :Smile_amazed:

I'm climbing ranked slowly because I'm just not playing as much ranked as I expected to be playing.

 

Edit: quite frankly, I dislike the 'keep a star' system we have right now. I would rather they reward the top player on the winning team with two stars so they climb faster. Would make things more pleasant for everyone.

The reason why I'm not R1 is simple, I limit myself to a maximum of 2-3 games a day. The way my clan's sanity is slipping I realize that it was the right choice.

Nevertheless my 80% WR up to R10 (stupid underperforming Eugen) gave me a quick 20 battle progression, and from now on I will be sailing my Hindenburger trying to get to 19p with my captain.

And the 3 lost was:

 

Game 1 (Alabama) AFK DD in a 1 DD per side game. lost

Game 2 (Enterprise) 30 secs left in the game 2 (us) v 1.  All the DD had to do was not fire a shot, just stay invisible that was it, simple........He fired and got sunk by the Bismarck.  Muppet and lost.

Game 3 (Alabama) They simply had the better team i think.  

 

So two were caused by AFK and the average player in ranked.  The ones that were won were mostly due to my Average dam of 87,627, Exp 1,977, win/lose of 22/1 and being stressed during each game!!! 

 

And i really am an above average player, nothing special at all.

 

All our AFK players and "W" only button players just had to do was turn up gets a free lunch ticket..I don't think so fella. 

 

I might win 10/10 games but that doesn't mean it's both fair and/or fun.  Getting pistol whipped by a CV when yours is AFK is not fun at all and instead of feeling good after a win it's rather melancholic.  It matters a hell of alot more in Ranked because of less ships.

 

I just wanna get some free flags and stop at rank 10 like i always do (really) :Smile_teethhappy:

For flags rank 12 is enough. I really don't like the stress in ranked, so I did bare minimum with "one-trick pony": Lo Yang. I could quite a few times easily save the star even when lost - because as usual I started the season late, player level was already abysmal at these ranks. But I also recall hopeless "cases" when even if all enemy DD were dead, even when we had cap and ship advantage, brainless Steves still pushed and got killed one after another before I could get into position to help. 

 

I thought about giving ranked a try this time, but when I saw that even really good "unicums" needed 100-200+ games to get to the top I decided to rather have fun than do the grind for Flint, Black or the fancy pirate flag. ..

Its just another game mode at the end of the day and it's something else for players to play, which is a good thing.

 

But it's just not my cup of tea :cap_tea: The kids, wife and job stresses me out enough to be fair.

 

How about Div Ranked? Just popped into my head and haven't given it one bit of thought so fire away.  But 2 Div teams in each team would help the team play side a bit? Maybe?

 

Its linked to the post because by the look of the poll, the majority of players don't play ranked because the teamwork is shocking. Thoughts?

I played a bit, got to rank 10 after 20 battles. 

 

Then Battletech was released and I kimda got sucked into that, so while I played that I watched some streamers having troubles with incompetent teammates from 10-1....

 

I decided that neither my Gearing or my Zao would enable me to carry people so in order to not sink too much time into it and get frustrated, I accepted rank 10 and started playing Randoms again :)

The main problem in my humble opinion is that a lot of people did the maths and came to the conclusion that the best way to climb in ranks is to play for Top-xp. Let's call them player type 'A' as opposed to type 'W' for players trying to win. Type 'A' also includes players that have no clue how to win games but play ranked anyway.

 

  1. One or two As in every team  -> challenging game.
  2. One team has three As and the other team just one -> roflstomp.
  3. Both teams have lot's of As -> boring sh*tshow with a random winner.

Well I started playing when it started ... I am a fairly new player to the game and this was my first season.

 

Played in the torpitz. Initially all was going well. People seemed to work together and I was getting wins that I couldn't get in randoms despite how well I played (its a jinxed ship for me in randoms). Got to rank 12 fairly easily and then it all went to rat crap. Teamplay evaporated and no one appeared to be working together.

 

I guess the majority woke up ... populated the ranked battles pool and turned it into just another random. Ofc in ranked where there are less ships, one or two who don't do what they should can eff it up even more for the rest of the team.

 

But what do I know, I am new here lol :cap_rambo:

I failed to make progress and started going backwards whenever I played my New Orleans. Result: play Cheeky Chapy, Mogami or Takao instead, where I have been making good progress.

 

I'll stop at Rank 10 because I don't have a Tier 10. I don't have a tier 10 because I've not found a Tier 9 ship that I enjoy playing yet. I'm not going to play a ship (a lot) that I don't enjoy. What's the point? Life's too short.

 

One good thing about Ranked is that you do get more battles that are closer than Random - where ROFLstomps happen too often.

My simple explanation for why people arent climbing as fast as they would want to is because they are either too bad to carry or cant understand how to use the flawed ranked system to be efficient in star farming.

 

Sure your DM radar positioning is good and will earn you a better WR than someone playing Hburg and farming damage on long range... but it will still result in far more stars lost compared to the damage farming Hburg that never loses a star on a loss.

 

Stop thinking what works in CW or randoms or what would theoretically be the best way to win a game and instead think what would be the best way to balance "games won - stars saved on loss" ratio. I hate to say this, but this is the way ranked works. If you cant exploit this flawed system then thats that. Winning ranked or getting good PR/WR in randoms is much more about exploitation than it is just straight up good play. Thats the real skill in this shitshow.
