I remember chasing one down with my Gearing and just continually hitting her from the stern with only 2/3 main guns using only HE. I continually changed my line so I was always on her stern and just burned her to death. As long as I was on her stern and stayed at distance I suffered very little. I do think that IZUMOS find it hard to avoid Torpedoes as they turn poorly... I am currently in NAGATO in my IJN BB line and will just blow through IZUMO to get me YAMATO... I play her like my "Musashi"... but "Musashi" she is not... Observations thus far: she is really "ugly duckling"... she is not as bad as many have written - but she is not good either... the guns are terribly inconsistent - one game you have comfortable 100K - 120K damage and you hit as expected - the very next game you struggle with 50K-60K damage because almost every sdalvo you fire is straddle but without any hits (or hits are causing so low damage on enemy that it is pathetic)... did I mention that she is not "visually beautiful" ? I played her like my "Musashi"... but "Musashi" she was not... 25.000+ less average damage in my "Izumo" than in my "Musashi" (with same 19 point captain = Isoruku Yamamoto) ... the guns are simply not consistent... Reminds me of when I met a Yamato semi-broadside at about that distance. There was an island in the way, and I only had one gun available. One shell clipped the cliff wall, so only two left. Result? Two citadels. Disperson can troll you, just like in any other battleship. It just doesn't do it very often. I'm not sure there's any battleship I've played where I've never had a broadside cruiser at that distance only to do pitiful damage. I'm not far from it myself, we can test this. I'll be the liability and you take a Taiho to make sure we win anyway. Still, I'm intrigued. What's the sigma on Izumo? I saw yesterday @CLyDeThaMonKeY playing Izumo and he had around 110k damage in short time. Atm im at Amagi, didnt yet bought it but im planing to grind to Yamato. From what I've heard from my friends, izumo is not bad ship when you have B or C hull upgraded. My subjective experience is that she's more accurate than Missouri at similar ranges.
