In Battle - ship id's display

Sorry, just started playing........ When in battle none of the ship id's are being displayed, should it display this info automatically or do i have to activate this setting myself ? , if so, how do i go about doing it ?.

You can either hold ALT key to show it or permanently activate it in the options. It's called Alternative Battle Interface under Controls (or something like that, don't have english client)

With ship ID's do you mean this: ?

 

 

You can see the names of the ships and their players + the health bars by pressing ALT. You can also go to the last tab of settings page, and select Alternative interface mode so it displays this same information all the time, so you don't need to press ALT:
