Obviously it's never possible to make up for every teammates' mistake, sometimes you are just stuck in a loss-loss situation because teammates are bad. But Hotspot is still a very carryable map overall.

 

The problem is the distance.

Awareness does not help if you foresee a flank collapsing, but actually cannot leave the one where you are at either.

 

On small maps you don't have to abandon your flank that soon, to help out at the other one.
