I feel the same as OP iam DD Player by heart i was happy about TX Ranked Battle announcement.

Getting to Rank 10 was very easy with LoYang np but now iam stuck no matter what i do or which ship i use.

My obious choizc was Z52 good for caps but sucks at torping stuff since you cant get Close enough due to the permanent Radar threat.

I tried Gearing with lets say not the results i expected.

 

Iam at the edge to put out my DM and Play cruiser instead but which DD Player you get then? i dont know

so far iam disappointed but didnt Play enough matches to see how it goes but first time iam about to Change playing DD against (Radar) Cruiser.

 

Update:

as i expected Cruiser is so much fun high caliber etc and granted me rank 9 quick

DD get still blamed for everything no cap no torps no smoke blablabla i guess i stick to cruiser

Maybe I've been very lucky with teams, but it's probably the best I've seen of ranked so far. Close, exciting games. No ships that are OP. Most players actually play well. ...and dds are still playable in my experience. I'm sure I'll come back crying about the general suckiness of humanity later though.

I know good players (from [RAIN] mostly) that find it easier to carry matches when playing a BB. That or a DM/Minotaur.

 

I won't recommend Moskva, it's way too vulnerable to focused fire and is spotted from the Moon and maybe from Mars. Both Zao and Henri lacks the ability to influence matches properly too.

 

So on my end it'll be Montana/République, and possibly Yamato.

Mosvka's an awesome boat for ranked.....just gotta position yourself well.

its better now than what it was the first day for sure .but still playing dd feels kind useless right now . still ill have my final judgement after a week when more bbs appear

Starting to loose the will to continue with ranked. The ability of some BB players is awfull, I have been down  to 1 star short of rank 10 and then  it just rolls back to rank 12/13, some BB’s just turn and run as soon as fired on, will not support you at caps etc.

I play the Edinburgh and tend to always come in the top 3 every game mostly above the BB’s in the team, very rarely do I see a BB top the team, it is just so demoralising, you try and cajole them along to go places but no they just meander off ??

Feel your pain m8 been yoyo-Ing miself like that through Saturday tried all classes to brake through but made it in the end.

It was a long time i stopped to play ranked on games cause at some points its really toxic to play with monkeys and its insulting for monkeys.

Thats why all the good BB players passed to rank10 already and you are teamed up with the average joe thar cannot carry a team.

The 5 - 1 bracket is filled with [edited]Conquerors camping in the back, farming damage and saving their stars every time.

Well, I messed around at rank 10 with Z-52, Conq and Mino with 1 point captains for a few games.

Still not sold on tier 10 balance/enjoyment, but it seems much better than tier 8 (why does tier 8 suck so hard? Free Bismark for everyone? Only 1 or 2 good ships? Terrible old maps?) So I've bought all the TX destroyers, equipped them and transferred across high level captains, inc Conq and Mino. 

 

Oh and props to WG for turning Tears of the Desert into a good map, easily the most most enjoyable one so far.

Repeating my post fron the pinned Ranked season 8 thread since this is where it belongs:

My first Ranked Battles season has been a highly enjoyable experience so far. Just achieved Rank 15 I think. Better standard of game play than all other modes (haven't done Clan Battles), more communication going on. I love it. It regularly brings out the best I can do. I just have too few / the wrong Tier VIII ships. But hey.

 

However.

 

Maybe it's me, but there's still confusion on the rules etc.

For one, what about the matchmaking? Does it take the players' ranks into account, with the "leagues" as rank brackets? IOW will players always only be matched up with other players from the same league?

 

Then the second thing is, I find it really very disappointing that right when you get into the swing of it, at Rank 10, you suddenly need a Tier X ship.

I take it there won't be any rental ships like in Clan Battles.

I haven't got one of my own yet, and don't really even want one, especially after experiencing some high tier Random Battles. Not my cup of tea. So this leaves three frustrating options and a fourth one one that'll make fellow players hate me (even more):

1. Stop doing anything else at all in my life, even stop playing lower and middling tiers, to grind out a Tier-X ship. OR
2. Buy a Tier-X premium ship (is there even one available? Somehow I'm sure there will be soon... before the Season is over.) EDIT: or 2a) spend a boatload of doubloons free-XP-ing a Tier-X ship. Which besides the money sounds like the worst idea ever. OR
3. Accept that my season is over at Rank 10. OR
4. Avoid reaching Rank 10.

EDIT: Have now started reading up on the beginning of this thread and it seems to confirm that T X also sucks in Ranked. Option 4 looking sweeter than ever. Now if I only could get that 'MURRICA F*CK YEAH camo from Texas for my Kidd, so people start really hating my guts.

(Seeing as the Free French ensign flying exclusively on all my German ships is just too small to get noticed.)

Thinks this season is far less frustrating than the last season, at least in the Tier 8 bracket.

No surprise.

basically players at rank 10/5 seeing 4+ Hindenburgs per game and taking measures.

Conqueror is the only ship with superior HE spamming abilities to Hindenburg

 

I'll soon be one more of them unless the amount of radar cruisers drops significantly enough for DDs to be viable again.

Graf Z and Enterprise have both around 59% WR, Lo Yang third with 54.65%... Asashio performs well at nearly 53% wins.

For tier 10 - Khaba surprisingly leads the way 54.22%, but the differences here are minor. Most play Hinden and DM - 14% and 11.3%. Cvs only take up 1.4% luckily.

Conq and Republique deal most damage.

On the other hand, hardly anybody plays Khaba. Thus it's easier to get a WR percentage peak (to be fair: in either direction)

My observations:

• Shells that hit me damage modules way too often, no matter the ship. I cant seem to keep up with repairs.
• The matchmaker in ranked is basically determining the outcome of many games - two radar ships on one side, none on the other. Take notice, it's happening folks.
• RPF has once again reared its ugly head and there is no room for tactical dd play. If you do not have it on your ship it's a distinct disadvantage.
• The ease at which players can get to tier 10 without having learned the game is now changing ranked gameplay to a farce, with tier 10 players wandering off into nowhere, capping oblivious to radar, entering a cap in a single dd or other against multiple enemy, generally blowing up in the same way you see borderline competent irl people playing in randoms. What makes these people think they're able to play in a focussed team..is overconfidence or false optimism in their abilities that prevalent in society?
• and then you get the cocky windowlickers, who when you ask a question or try to give advice nicely call you salty...you so salty 'm8' they say. There is no intelligent conversation anymore and no point trying to reason in a nice way. Watch out guys, these amazeballs are going to marry your daughters and breed...they're breeders.

I think rank 10 is all I am tolerating this season. Once I felt like competing, now it feels like too much work competing against factors like the rng, mm, and dodgy team mates before getting to play the game.

Take a look at the Midway leaderboard and make a prayer each time you see cvs lining up before the battle.

 

A lot of the bad tier 10 cv players must have hidden stats though, they don't add up very well.

Well, im one of those Hindenburgs and i think des moines is the real pain in the arse. Yet if I managed to save some stars were not cause of HE spamming but cause of better performance than the other 6 of my team.
