    Shikishima review

Shikishima Review (or, how to be heard across the map) The "other Yamato," the Shittyshima, the "big boom," are among the appelations of this misunderstood BB. It seems WG took the Yama, threw on 510mm guns, and created an IJN version of the Gneisenau, at the exorbitant price tag of 32000 steel, as most people who play competitive queues have 3-4 steel ships. Is this ship worth its price, or should you just play Yamato (or better still, the Musashi) instead? Before we get into this, as a disclaimer, I am a BB main, having reached rank 1 in BBs several times, as well as having played in typhoon league. I have played over a thousand games in Yamato, some 30 in Shiki and over a hundred in Musa. Lets break this ship down. Essential, what you get, is a Yamato with four differences. 1. The guns (obviously) 2. Better secondaries 3. better AA 4. Better rudder shift We will begin with the obvious, the guns. Shikishima mounts 3x2 510mm guns. Yamato mounts 3x3 460mm guns. Shikishima has less DPM, but an arguably better alpha strike. Base reload is 27 seconds, with roughly 19k citadel alpha damage, quite a wallop. Initial AP velocity is 765m/s. How do these guns actually perform? Well, dispersion is Yamato esque, meaning pretty good sigma, but poor vertical dispersion, and no access to a unique upgrade to tighten it up. So, in practice, dispersion is average, neither hot nor cold. The problem with average dispersion is that 6 guns make it feel a lot worse. A poor grouping on 12 guns in annoying, on 6 guns it means one overpen. You will fluff salvoes, but you will land 20-40k salvoes with alarming regularity. Additional, on the flip side, a 27 sec reload, with MB mod 3, and say, 50% HP missing for adrenaline rush, gives you a 21 second reload. That is frighteningly fast for guns of this calibre. Fluffed salvo? No worries, another is on its way. And when you connect, you connect for the big bucks. The penetration is some 5% better than Yama's beyond 15km and at long ranges, you can feel the difference. As for velocity, as befits such massive rounds, they suffer very little from air drag as they barrel their way to the enemy, making lead rather proportionate, and easy for long ranges. At 20km, the shells take only 17 seconds to reach the target, compared to 21 for Yamato. Secondaries- Shikishima has harugumo guns for secondaries, rather than shima guns like Yamato, with 7.7km base range. This means a fully secondary specced Shiki will reach out to 11.65km, with an impressive rate of fire and can penetrate 30mm of armour. It is a meme-build, while fun, leave secondaries to the experts like GK or Ohio, which have the armour scheme to match. Shiki and Yama share the same "cheeks." Better AA- shiki's AA is quite strong. It deals so much damage is comparable to ships like Bourgogne Anti-Air achievements are quite possible against t8/9 cvs, and you can shoot down some T10 planes too, in fair time. Of course, it won't stop a determined Hakuryo or Midway, but it will stop the steady bleed of HP to say a Graf Spee or Lexington. Rudder shift- Shiki's rudder shift stands at 18.7, some 4 seconds or roughly 20% faster than Yamato's. It is akin to the difference between stock Montana and Ohio's rudder shift. It is not awesome, but it really helps when moving around islands, or angling to protect your cheeks. Otherwise, you have a Yamato. A Yamato with badder guns and better AA. Your artillery is so powerful and so easy to lead at 20+ km, you really don't need to go close. Shoot at the flanks of any ship you can see, even 24km away. If you can lead semi-well, you will connect for good damage, even citadels. I would rate this ship slightly better for randoms than Yama. The guns are different, not better or worse, but the AA and rudder shift make it slightly better. So the big question, should I buy this ship? Well, 32 000 steel is A LOT of steel. If you don't make much steel, I would definitely get Stalingrad and Bourgogne first, which both are very powerful and offer a unique experience, This ship is an alternate Yamato. If you can rake in the steel, by all means, buy it. You won't be disappointed in the slightest, just play the tried and true tank build and this ship will do well. I have attached my best replay from my channel, to show that the guns certainly do perform, my recommended build and finally an artillery chart, if anyone is interested in the nitty-gritty of how her guns compare to Yamato's 460s. 2. When you spend your hard-earned currency on a ship, you dream of this kind of start, especially when you are Mr average. I fully expect MM to correct this anomaly with some rollovers so should be back to around 50% in no time Love the sonic boom. Not going to mention anything else, as I fear the gits will try and nerf my fun.

    Shikishima (ex-Yashima) Tier X

Japanese battleship Yashima, Tier X Yashima is an alternative project of Yamato, armed with 6 510-mm guns and modernized AA defense. The battleship has shells with high damage and very good penetration, but not the best ballistics. As these shells need to pass through a thick armor to detonate, there will often be over-penetration when lightly armored target is hit. But enemy battleships are a perfect target for Yashima. Hit points – 97200. Plating - 32 mm. Main battery - 3x2 510 mm. Firing range - 26.6 km. Dispersion at this range - 272 m. Sigma – 2.10. Maximum HE shell damage – 8100. Chance to cause fire – 40%. HE initial velocity - 720 m/s. Maximum AP shell damage - 19400. AP initial velocity - 720 m/s. Reload time - 35.0 s. 180 degree turn time - 60.0 s. Secondary Armament: 2x3 155.0 mm, range - 7.0 km. Maximum HE shell damage – 2600. Chance to cause fire – 10%. HE initial velocity - 925 m/s 10x2 100.0 mm, range - 7.0 km. Maximum HE shell damage – 1700. Chance to cause fire – 6%. HE initial velocity - 1000 m/s AA defense: 24x2 40.0 mm, 16x3 25.0 mm, 10x2 100.0 mm.
